Jake Thomas, age 19, died Monday, May 31, 2004 in Okeechobee. Mr. Thomas was born July 28, 1984 in Fort Pierce to Wyatt and Debra Thomas.
Jake was a member of FFA and he enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He was preceded in death by: his grandparents, Jack and Birdie Bridges; and, grandfather, Herman Thomas.
Survivors include: father and stepmother, Wyatt and Lisa Thomas; mother, Debra Thomas; son, Tyler James Thomas; sister, Jessica (Kevin) Throop; nephew, Calab Throop; grandmother, Katherine Thomas; three uncles, Wilson Thomas of Demopolis, Ala., Earl (Tammy) Thomas, and Ronnie Bridges; three aunts, Kathie Bass, Jane Warren of Hobe Sound and Connie Bridges; step-grandparents, Ed and Jan Troost; step-aunt, Lori Hester of Waycross, Ga.; and, several cousins.
Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m., on Thursday, June 3, at Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home. Graveside services will be Friday, June 4, at 10 a.m., at Basinger Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in the name of Jacob Thomas at Mid Florida Credit Union in Okeechobee.

Willie Frank 'Buck' Smith, Sr.
Willie Frank 'Buck' Smith, Sr., age 63, of Okeechobee, died Friday, May 28, 2004, at Okeechobee Health Care Facility. He was born Feb. 3, 1941, in Geneva, Ala.. Mr. Smith had been a resident of Okeechobee for 55 years. He was a member of May's Temple Church of God in Christ. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by those who cherish his memory.
Survivors include: three sisters, Mae Ida (Cleveland) Rosier and Pearl (Alvin Joe) White of Okeechobee and Nina Exum of South Carolina; brother, WilIie James Allen of Okeechobee; sons, Willie, Solomon, D'Andre, Desmond, Devon and Derrious; daughter, Melody; devoted stepson, Webb, all of Okeechobee; and, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Friends may call at the Buxton Funeral Home on Friday, June 4, from noon until funeral service time at 1 p.m. Evangelist Brenda Jones will officiate. Private interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Joseph Dale Pritchett
Joseph Dale Pritchett, age 74, of Okeechobee, died Friday, May 21, 2004, at Okeechobee Health Care Facility. Born June 3, 1929, in Grayville, Ill., Mr. Pritchett had been a resident of Okeechobee for 30 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the VFW and Buckhead Ridge Moose Lodge. He enjoyed woodworking and fishing.
He was preceded in death by: his son, Michael Pritchett; and, sister, Marilyn.
Survivors include: his beloved wife of 26 years, Donna Pritchett of Okeechobee; son, Tim (Jamie) Pritchett of Okeechobee; five daughters, Karen (Chris) Gulbrandsen of Port St. Lucie, Diane Pritchett of Merritt Island, Melinda Toms, Hope (Gary) Ferrell and Tracey Lee Hale, all of Mountvalle, Va.; 19 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Paul (Darlene) Pritchett of Houston, Texas, Bill (Mattie) Pritchett of Sebring, Ed (Jean) Pritchett of Verona, Va., Stoney (Mickey) Pritchett of Bridgeport, Ill.; two sisters, Dorothy Wiseman of Belmont, Ill. and Virginia (Mel) Muscak of Sebring; and, lifetime friend, James R Kobecker.
Committal service with full cemetery honors and interment of cremains will be conducted in Evergreen Cemetery on Wednesday, June 2, at 10 a.m.

Helen M. Gabriel
Helen M. Gabriel, age 85, died Thursday, May 27, 2004, at Okeechobee Health Care Facility. She was born March 18, 1919, in Hamilton, Ohio to William and Luella Gabriel. She was a retired plant controller for Stern's and Foster Mattress. She moved to Buckhead Ridge in 1989.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother George E. Gabriel.
Survivors include: her sister, Janett 'Jean' A. Stamler and her nephew, Michael C. Tillery both of Ohio.
No services will be held.
Inurnment will be at Venice Cemetery in Ohio.

Julia M. Arrowood Arthurhultz
Julia M. Arrowood Arthurhultz, of Tunkhannock, Pa., died Tuesday, May 25, in Mercy Hospital Scranton. She was born in Mehoopany, Pa., on May 13, 1918, daughter of the late Earle D. and Olive I. Lewis Goodwin. She was a graduate of Tunkhannock High School Class of 1936. She was employed for 38 years in the Post Office at Mehoopany serving as acting Postmaster during the Johnson administration. She held dual memberships in the Mehoopany Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for over 23 years, and Grace Christian Church in Okeechobee.
She loved working in the kitchen, and will always be remembered for her baking.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bruce Arrowood; son, Lewis Willis Arrowood; and, brother, Bernard Goodwin.
Survivors include: her husband, Wayne L. Arthurhultz; sons, Bruce R. Arrowood, Sebring, Lawrence J. Arrowood, of Mehoopany, Pa., Michael L. Arrowood, Laccyville, Pa.; daughter, Marilyn A. Robinson, Mehoopany, Pa.; brothers, Harold Goodwin, and twin brothers, Paul and Perle Goodwin, all of Forkston, Pa.; step-son, Michael Arthurhultz, of Osceola, Ind.; step-daughters, Becky Shaffer, of Gainesville, Karen Rieffel, of Okeechobee; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and, six step-great-grandchildren.

Mary E. O'Keefe
Mary E. O'Keefe, age 82, of Okeechobee, died Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce. Born Sept. 13, 1921 in Buffalo, N.Y., Mrs. O'Keefe formerly of St. Petersburg and Orlando, had been a resident of Okeechobee for 10 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, John and Julia Burke O'Keefe; and, sister, Catherine.
Survivors include: two sisters, June McCall of Okeechobee and Rita Lonergan of Los Angeles, Calif.; several nieces; and, nephews.
A mass will be conducted at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 701 S.W. Sixth St. in Okeechobee, on Monday, May 31, at 10 a.m. with Father Hugh Duffy, officiating. Interment and committal will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in St Petersburg, on Tuesday, June 1, at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Okeechobee, P.O. Box 1548, Okeechobee, Fla. 34973.

Janice Marlene Clough
Janice Marlene Clough, age 70, of Canal Point, died Thursday, May 27, 2004 at Okeechobee Health Care Facility. Born Jan. 11, 1934 in Ellsworth, Maine, Mrs. Clough had been a resident of Canal Point over 40 years. She was owner/operator of Grassy Waters Restaurant and a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Pahokee.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Fredrick Higgins and Mike Clough; daughter, Rebecca Higgins; sisters, Lila Leonard and Pauline Barnsworth; and brother, Jerald Turner.
Survivors include: her children, Victoria (Bobby) Harrison and Randall Higgins of Canal Point, Jo Ellen (Chris) Modisette of Longview, Texas and Bernie Higgins of Vero Beach; grandchildren, Crystal (Michael) Waldrop and Sabrina (Andy) Yates of Okeechobee, Christina Gomez and Bobby Harrison, Jr. of Canal Point, Randall Hoffman of Orlando, Fredrick Higgins, III of Vero Beach and Kyle and Cody Modisette of Longview, Texas; great grandchildren, Kayla and Lindsey Waldrop, Brianne Yates and Kelsi Kula, all of Okeechobee, and Marc, George and Christopher Gomez of Canal Point; brothers, Hayden Joy of Orrington, Maine, David Joy of Terryville, Conn. and Edward Joy of Ellsworth, Maine; sisters, Clara Salsbury of Burlington, Conn., Diane Carter of Ellsworth, Maine and Donna McNulty of Manord, Mass.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 30, at the Church of the Nazarene, 480 Bacom Point Road in Pahokee, from 2 until memorial service time at 3 p.m. Pastor Danny Moore will officiate.

Michael G. Anderson
Michael G. Anderson, age 51, of Okeechobee, died Sunday, May 23, 2004 at his residence. He was born, Nov. 3, 1952 in Indianapolis, Ind., he had been a resident of Okeechobee for five years.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Drucilla Anderson.
Survivors include: his father, Ted Anderson of Okeechobee; three brothers, Mark Anderson of Fort Myers, Marvin Anderson of Port St. Lucie and Ted (Donna) Anderson, Jr. of rural Palm Beach County; three sisters, Marsha (Buddy) Bass and Mary Elizabeth Smith of White Oak, Texas and Myra Anderson of Glad Water, Texas.
There will be no visitation or services.
