Zedra B. Goolsby, age 81, of Okeechobee, died Monday, May 24, 2004 at Raulerson Hospital. He was born Sept. 28, 1922 in Gainesville. Mr. Goolsby had been a resident of Okeechobee almost 30 years. He was a charter member of Independent Florida Dairy Farmers Association and a member of the Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his son, David Goolsby.
Survivors include: his beloved wife of 39 years, Winifred Goolsby of Okeechobee; son, Robert (Amanda) Goolsby of Gainesville; two daughters, Jo Ann (Steve) Bell of Hernando, Miss. and Joan (John) Shute of Davie; stepson, Henry (Joan) Tuliszewski of Davie; daughter-in-law, Pat Goolsby; 11 grandchildren; and, eight great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the Buxton Funeral Home on Thursday, May 27, from noon until memorial service time at 1 p.m. Rev. James Lynch, Pastor of the Church of Christ will officiate.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.
Raymond Hobson
Raymond Hobson, age 55, of Okeechobee died Monday, May 24, 2004 at Raulerson Hospital. He was born Nov. 23, 1948 to Raymond and Barbara Hobson.
Mr. Hobson came to Okeechobee from Jupiter in 1989. He was employed by Evans Properties in Okeechobee. He also served our nation in the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include: his loving wife of 21 years, Cheryl; one daughter, Robin Gardner of Tacoma, Wash.; one son, Raymond T. Hobson, Jr. of Wenatchee, Wash.; one step-daughter, Christina Donth of Redwood City, Calif.; three brothers, Richard Hobson of Tampa, Randy Hobson of Ft. Riley, Kan. and Ronnie Hobson of Stark; and, five grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m., Thursday, May 27, at Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home.
Services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, May 28, at Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home.
The family has requested no flowers please. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Alan Charles Oppenheim
Alan Charles Oppenheim, age 72, of Okeechobee, died Saturday, May 22, 2004 at Raulerson Hospital. Formerly of Ft. Pierce, Mr. Oppenheim has been a 15-year resident of Okeechobee.
Having served in the United States Air Force, he worked as a truck driver.
Survivors include: his wife, Pat; one son, John Oppenheim of Stuart; two daughters, Debi (Bob) Glass of Port St. Lucie and Nancy Lee (Mark) Stevens of Okeechobee; three grandsons, John, Jr., Joshua and Matthew Stevens; two granddaughters, Cassandra Perry and Candyce Richard; one great-grandson, Shane Andrew Perry; and, one brother Gerald (Marjorie) Oppenheim of Delray Beach.
Although there will be no formal visiting hours or services, the family will receive friends at their home on Saturday, May 29, from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Jackie George Preston
Jackie George Preston, age 74, died Tuesday, May 25, 2004 at Raulerson Hospital. He was born May 26, 1929 in Detroit, Mich. to Ralph and Gertrude Preston.
He served our nation in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he was awarded the Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star, the UN Service Medal, and the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, VFW, American Legion, AmVets and Elks Lodge. He was a winter resident of Okeechobee.
He was preceded in death by his late wife, Katherine Preston.
Survivors include: his beloved wife, Jo Ann of Carmi, Ill.; three sons, Thomas Harmon of Carmi, Ill., Martin Harmon of Xenia, Ohio, and Jody Jordan of Santee, Calif.; one daughter, Lisa Graham of Princeton, Ind.; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and, four brothers, Charles Preston of Carmi, Ill., Robert Preston of McLeansboro, Ill., Ralph William Preston of Smith Mills, Ky., and Donald Preston of Carmi, Ill.
Funeral services will be arranged by Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, Ill.

Joseph Dale Pritchett
Joseph Dale Pritchett, age 74, of Okeechobee, died Friday, May 21, 2004 at Okeechobee Health Care Facility. He was born, June 3, 1929 in Grayville, Ill. He had been a resident of Okeechobee for 30 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict and was a member of the VFW and Buckhead Ridge Moose Lodge. He enjoyed woodworking and fishing.
He was preceded in death by: his son, Michael Pritchett; and, sister, Marilyn.
Survivors include: his beloved wile of 26 years, Donna Pritchett of Okeechobee; son, Tim (Jamie) Pritchett of Okeechobee; five daughters, Karen (Chris) Gulbrandsen of Port St Lucie, Diane Pritchett of Merritt Island, Melinda Toms, Hope (Gary) Ferrell and Tracey Lee Hale, all of Montvalle, Va.; nineteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; four brothers, Paul (Darlene) Pritchett of Houston, Texas, Bill (Mattie) Pritchett of Sebring, Ed (Jean) Pritchett of Verona, Va., Stoney (Mickey) Pritchett of Bridgeport, Ill.; two sisters, Dorothy Wiseman of Belmont, Ill. and Virginia (Mel) Muscak of Sebring; and, lifetime friend, James R, Kobecker.

Robert Clark Shultz
Robert Clark Shultz, age 82, of Okeechobee, died Sunday, April 18, 2004 at his residence. He was born April 4, 1922, in Sullivan, W.Va., he had been a winter resident of Okeechobee since l991 and a permanent resident for one year. He was retired after serving 28 years with the U.S. Navy. He was a 32nd Degree Mason of the Masonic Lodge, Blue Lodge 95 and a member of the Scottish Rite in Charleston, W.Va., additionally, he was past president of Fleet Reserve Association Branch 37 in Portsmouth, Va.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Shultz.
Survivors include: his beloved wife of 61 years, Nancy Shultz of Okeechobee; one son, Robert C. Shultz, II of Okeechobee; one grandson, Robert C. Shultz III of Virginia Beach, Va.; and, several nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be conducted in the Buxton Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, May 29, at 1 p.m. Rev. Dr. John Keith, Pastor of Oakview Baptist Church will officiate.

Altave 'Dee' Davis
Altave 'Dee' Davis, age 72, of Okeechobee, died Thursday, May 20, 2004, at Kindred Hospital in Fort Lauderdale. She was born Nov. 26, 1931, in Lakeport, Mrs. Davis had been a lifetime resident of Okeechobee. She was a licensed cosmetologist/barber for 35 years and a member of the Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Esther McDuffie.
Survivors include: her beloved husband of 35 years, Jesse Lee Davis of Okeechobee; three sons, Robert (Barbara) Stewart, Donnie Stewart and Michael (Angela) Davis, all of Okeechobee; two daughters, Kaye (Alan) Buchanan of Okeechobee and Belinda (Tim) Freeman of Tallahassee; one stepson, Mac Davis of Port St Lucie; three stepdaughters, Barbara Childs of North Carolina, Skeeter Entry of Okeechobee and Janet Hurst of Port St. Lucie; and two sisters, Mae (H.T.) Scott of Okeechobee and Shirley (Ken) Mitchum of Venus.
Friends may call at the Buxton Funeral Home on Sunday, May 23, from 5 until 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the Buxton Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, May 24, at 10 a.m. Rev. Noah Taylor, Pastor of North Okeechobee Church of God, will officiate and interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

James B. Peterson, Sr.
James B. Peterson, Sr., age 82, of Okeechobee died Thursday, May 13, 2004, at Okeechobee Health Care Facility. He was born July 21, 1921, in Covington County, Miss., to Adam and Matilda Peterson. He was retired from the U.S. Marine Corps, having served his country proudly and faithfully during WWII and the Korean War. Mr. Peterson came to Okeechobee from Miami in 1970.
He was preceded in death by his youngest son, Fred Peterson and his grandson, Charles Collier.
Survivors include: his son, James B. Peterson; daughter, Jean Collier; granddaughter, Crystal Peterson; and, great-grandsons, Marc and Cory Collier. Mr. Peterson was loved and will be missed by his extended family of Harry and Bette Moldenhauer, Sandra Sandy, and Michael and Kerry Mohorek.
Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m., at Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home on Sunday, May 16.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., on Monday, May 17, at Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home.

Patrick Dean Copeland
Patrick Dean Copeland, age 26, of Okeechobee, died Monday, May 10, 2004. He was born Oct. 3, 1977, in Kokomo, Ind. Mr. Copeland had resided in Okeechobee for 18 months. He was a member of the Moose Lodge.
Survivors include: his mother, Marcella (Ermal) Williams of Okeechobee; daughter, Taelor N. Copeland of Kokomo, Ind.; brother, Matthew Arcy Copeland of Peru, Ind.; grandfather, Billy Copeland of Miss.; and, great-grandmother, Helen Conwell of Kokomo, Ind..
There will be no visitation or services.
