Timothy Johnathon Clay, age 21, of Okeechobee, died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002, at Raulerson Hospital.
Mr. Clay was born on July 27, 1981, in Pahokee. Timothy had been a lifetime resident of Okeechobee and graduated from Okeechobee High School. He worked at Lightsey's Restaurant and enjoyed surfing and many other outdoor sports.
Tim was saved and baptized just three short months ago. When he was only 4 years old, Tim taught himself to read. Having a born desire for knowledge, he strived to learn all he could and had dreams of one day being owner/operator of his own restaurant. He had many, many friends whom he loved to hang out with, make laugh and just have a good time. He was loyal and true to all who were loved by him.
Timothy is survived by his parents, Mark and Darlene Simrell of Arcadia; two brothers, Tommy and John Clay of Okeechobee; one niece, Jasmine Clay of Okeechobee; maternal grandmother, Marian Howser of Okeechobee; and aunts, Norma Droz and Elaine Smith of Okeechobee, Veronica Iliano of Cleveland, Ohio, and Carol Stone of Wellington.
Friends may call at the Buxton Funeral Home on Saturday, Sept. 14, from noon until 2 p.m.
Funeral services will follow visitation at 2 p.m. with Reverend Joe Bishop and Dave Robertson officiating.

William F. Keobernik, Jr.
William F. Koebernik, Jr., age 48, of Okeechobee, died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002, at Raulerson Hospital.
Mr. Koebernik was born on July 30, 1954, in Key West. Mr. Koebernik was a 20 year resident of Okeechobee, he enjoyed fishing and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include: his son, William F. Koebernik III; daughters, Amanda and Mahola of Oklahoma; his father and stepmother, William F. Sr. and Dee Koebernik of Okeechobee; mother and stepfather, Helen and Ray Davis of Mississippi; three brothers, Robert (Bonnie) Koebernik of Lansing, N.C., Allan Koebernik of Conway, Ark. and Jeff (Angie) Koebernik of Okeechobee; two sisters, Amy Koebernik of Okeechobee and Cynthia White of Tampa also survives him.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 10, from 4 until 7 p.m., at the Buxton Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at 2 p.m., at the Buxton Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Joe Regnier of Grace Brethren Church officiating. Interment to follow in Basinger Cemetery.

Frank David Lloyd, Sr.
Frank David Lloyd, Sr., age 68, of Okeechobee, died on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, at the Dept. of Veteran Affairs Medical Center in West Palm Beach,
Mr. Lloyd was born on July 28, 1934, in Poca, W. Va., son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank W. Lloyd. Mr. Lloyd was a graduate of Poca High School, where he was an honor's student; an all-American athlete and had perfect attendance. He was an U.S. Air Force veteran; upon his honorable discharge from the Air Force, he moved to Florida. He was a resident of West Palm Beach for 22 years before moving to Okeechobee 16 years ago. Mr. Lloyd was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie No. 4137; the Loyal Order of Moose; and The American Legion, all in Okeechobee.
Survivors include: his devoted wife, Carolyn Stanley Lloyd; three children, Frank D. Lloyd, Jr., of Lake Park, Scott Lloyd of Chicago, Ill., Keli Miritello of Mundelin, Ill.; six grandchildren; four step children, Patricia Hannan of Green Haven, Md., Jeanne Disney of Miami, Nancy Shepherd of Jupiter, David Stanley of Lake Worth; 11 step grandchildren; and 12 step great-grandchildren also survive him.
There will be a memorial service on Saturday, Sept. 14, at 2 p.m., at the Eagles Aerie, 9985 U.S. 441 North, in Okeechobee.

Leona Wilson
Leona Wilson, age 83, of Okeechobee, died Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002, at Okeechobee Health Care Facility.
Mrs. Wilson was born on March 27, 1919, in New York. Mrs. Wilson had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1956. She was a member of the VFW Post 4423 Women's Auxiliary and the Fort Drum Community Church.
Preceded in death by: her husbands, Jimmy Wilson, Thomas O. Jones and Llewellyn M. Davis; and son, William George Davis.
Survivors include: three sons, Howard C. (Lucinda) Davis of Fort Drum, James L. Davis of Fayetteville, Tenn., and Terry L. Davis of Benson, N.C.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one stepdaughter, Juanita (Wayne) Cullers of Vero Beach; and one sister, Marjorie Barnes of Rochester, N.Y.

Miles Conrad McPherson
Miles Conrad McPherson, age 47, of Tallahassee, died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002, in Tallahassee.
Mr. McPherson was born on Dec. 8, 1954, in Fort Pierce. A native of Fort Pierce, he had lived in Okeechobee before moving to Tallahassee in 1971. Mr. McPherson was of the Baptist Faith and a graduate of Godby High School.
Survivors include: his loving son, Shane McPherson of Tallahassee; and his parents, J.C. and Iris McPherson of Tallahassee; and a number of other relatives also survive him.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Sept. 6, from 6 until 8 p.m., at the Beggs Funeral Home in Tallahassee.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Sept. 7, at 11 a.m., at the Beggs Funeral Home, with Interment to follow in Southside Cemetery, Tallahassee.

Elizabeth Heath, age 80, of Okeechobee, died Wednesday, September 4, 2002, at her residence.
Mrs. Heath was born on Feb. 3, 1922, in Lebanon, Ind., and had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1969.
Survivors include: her husband of 58 years, Donald Heath of Okeechobee; one sister, Mildred Long of Lebanon, Ind.; and brother-in-law, Marion Heath of Lebanon, Ind. also survives her.

Robert E. Heim
Robert E. Heim, age 71, of Okeechobee, died Wednesday, September 4, 2002, at his residence.
Mr. Heim was born on Oct. 11, 1930 and had been a resident of Okeechobee for two years. He had served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the VFW Post 10539 in Okeechobee.
Survivors include: his wife, Barbara Heim of Boca Raton; and friends, Jean Price and family also survive him.

Jerry M. Johnson
Jerry M. Johnson, age 55, of Okeechobee, died Wednesday, August 28, 2002, at his residence.
Mr. Johnson was born on September 8, 1946, in Sebring, Florida. He was a laborer by trade.
Survivors include: his sister, Arrie Martin of Okeechobee; and one brother, Jerome (Earlene) Johnson of Indiantown also survives him.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Sept. 7, from 9:30 until 11 a.m., at the New St. Stephens AME Church in Okeechobee.
Funeral services will follow visitation on Sept. 7, at 11:30 a.m., at the New St. Stephens AME Church, with Reverend Elijah Murphy, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

Raymond Leroy Hall
Raymond Leroy Hall, age 61, of Okeechobee, died Friday, August 30, 2002, in Palm Beach.
Mr. Hall was born on August 21, 1941, in Wabash, Ind., son of the late Raymond Hall and Helen Rose. Mr. Hall was a heavy equipment operator for the railroad; he came to Okeechobee from Wabash, Ind., 15 years ago. He was a member of the Moose Club, American Legion and the Taylor Creek Bass Club. Mr. Hall was a veteran who served in the U.S. Air Force.
Preceded in death by his father, Raymond Hall.
Survivors include: his wife of 39 years, Ruby Hall of Okeechobee; his mother, Helen Rose of Wabash, Ind.; and brother, Earl Hall of Ohio also survives him.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Sept. 5, at 7 p.m., at the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home, with Dr. John Keith officiating.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Okeechobee.

Rudolf Suchel
Rudolf Suchel, age 89, of Okeechobee, died Friday, August 30, 2002, at Raulerson Hospital.
Mr. Suchel was born on December 2, 1912, in Cleveland, Ohio. Mr. Suchel had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1978. He moved to West Palm Beach from Cleveland in 1945, where he worked in construction until 1978, when he retired and moved to Okeechobee. During his retirement, he worked at the Martin County Power Plant for 17 years as a security guard and volunteered as a Master Gardener for the Okeechobee County Extension Office for 18 years. He was a member of the Widow to Widowers Support Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Suchel.
Survivors include: two daughters, Pat Mahaffey of Livingston, Ky. and Trudy Cason of Okeechobee; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ollie Ward and Helen Chevney, both of Ohio.
There will be no visitation or services.

Jose Suarez
Jose Suarez, age 70, of Eatonton, Ga., died Sunday, September 1, 2002, at his residence.
Mr. Suarez was born on Oct. 6, 1931, in Mercedes, Texas. Mr. Suarez had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1957, before relocating to Eatonton, Ga., in 1987. He was truck driver for Armellini Express Lanes and was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include: his wife, Etta Mae Suarez of Eatonton, Ga.; one daughter, Barbara Chapman of Eatonton, Ga.; one son, Jerry Wayne Suarez of Okeechobee; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Benito Suarez and Juan Suarez, Sr., both of Okeechobee; and three sisters, Aurora Juarez, Lupe Madrigal and Rose Rogers, all of Okeechobee also survive him.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 4, from 5 until 7 p.m., at the Buxton Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, Sept. 5, at 10 a.m., at the Buxton Funeral Home, with Reverend Larry Kilgore, Pastor of Okeechobee Church of God officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

Dennis Eugene Massey
Dennis Eugene Massey, age 85, of Okeechobee, died Sunday, September 1, 2002, at Raulerson Hospital.
Mr. Massey was born on July 18, 1917, in Poca, W. Va., to Thomas Earl and Lily Blanch Painter Massey. Mr. Massey, formerly of Minford, Ohio, had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1985, after retiring as owner/operator of Massey-Gravely Company. Mr. Massey grew up and attended schools in Poca, W. Va. He was a 50 Plus Year Member and Royal Arch Masonry, as well as a member of the Knight Templar and Beni Kedim Shrine. Mr. Massey was a past president of the Minfords Lions Club and Past Director of the Minford Phone Company and Minford Banking Center in Minford, Ohio. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Okeechobee.
Survivors include: his loving wife of over 63 years, Orba Shelton Massey of Okeechobee; one son, Dennis Massey, Jr. of Minford, Ohio; two daughters, Judith Massey of Okeechobee and Peggy (Tom) Baker of Huntington, W. Va.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren also survive him.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 4, from 10 until 11 a.m., after which funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., at the Buxton Funeral Home, with Reverend Fred Gardner, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

Les Kroll
Les Kroll, age 59, of Okeechobee, died Friday, August 30, 2002, at Raulerson Hospital.
Mr. Kroll was born on July 3, 1943, in Muskegon, Mich. He had been a resident of Okeechobee for nine years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and was of the Catholic Faith.
Survivors include: one daughter, Carrie Louise (Randy) Mahoney of Whitehall, Mich.; three grandchildren, Carson, Hannah and Riley Mahoney, all of Whitehall, Mich.; brother, Jim Kroll of Lake Worth; two half brothers, Robert Witte of Montague, Mich. and Mikel Eirman of Brooksville.
There will be no visitation.
Private services will be held at a later date in Michigan.

John Allen Mitchem
John Allen Mitchem, age 72, of Okeechobee, died Friday, August 30, 2002, at Okeechobee Health Care Facility.
Mr. Mitchem was born on Dec. 19, 1929, in Dunnegan, Mo., Mr. Mitchem had been a resident of Okeechobee for 13 years. An electronics mechanic, he retired Jan. 3, 1985, with more than 36 years of federal service. Enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1948, he served in Alaska, Okinawa, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Thailand. He also served as a recruiter in an office at Jefferson and Gravois before retiring from military service in 1968. An Aerospace Center employee since September 1968, he maintained fire and security alarms. He was a member of the American Legion Post 64 in Okeechobee. During his retirement he enjoyed traveling and fishing.
Survivors include: his wife of 23 years, Gladys Mitchem of Okeechobee; one daughter, Stephanie Douglas of Chesterfield, Mo.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two stepsons, Ronald M. (Connie) Sickels of Waterloo, Ill. and Bradley (Marla) R. Sickels of Okeechobee; three stepdaughters, Wanda (Michael) Emrick of Waterloo, Ill., Judy (Howard) Ashby of Belleville, Ill. and Brenda (Wayne) Reed of Freeburg, Ill.; 11 step grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; and one brother, Kenneth Mitchem of Humansville, Mo.

James Lloyd Cannon, Sr.
James Lloyd Cannon, Sr., age 76, of Fort Pierce, died Wednesday, August 28, 2002, in Fort Pierce.
Mr. Cannon was born on April 10, 1926, in Brooks County, Ga. He moved to Fort Pierce from Pavo, Ga., and has lived there for 40 years. Mr. Cannon was a shipping foreman by trade; he worked with MacArthur Dairy in Fort Pierce for 27 years and he loved to fish.
Survivors include: two sons, James L. Cannon, Jr. of Okeechobee and William Carl Cannon of Fort Pierce; four daughters, Judy Cannon and Edna Cannon, both of Fort Pierce, Lorraine Wix and Jane Young, both of Norman Park, Ga.; 16 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren also survive him.
Visitation was held Thursday, Aug. 29, at the Haisley-Hobbs Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Aug. 30, at 2 p.m., at Haisley-Hobbs Funeral Home, Inc., with Reverend Tommy York officiating. Interment will be in White City Cemetery, Fort Pierce.
