Richard B. Henry
Henry, Richard B., 85, of Dade City, FL, passed away Monday, January 15, 2007 under the care of Hernando-Pasco Hospice. He was born November 5, 1921 in Sligo, PA, to Cora Burns and Edwin Henry. Dick served as a liaison pilot in the US Army Air Corp in the South Pacific during WW II. He retired as a Lt. Col from the US Army Reserves on November 5, 1981. He was employed as a salesman for 37 years by R & S Metals, in Clarion, PA. Dick was an active member of the 1st United Methodist Church in Clarion; a member of the United Methodist Men’s Group for 20 years, and served as a Stephens Minister. He volunteered at Clarion Hospital and Dade City Hospital. He was a member of the Fiddle a Rounds square dance club. He enjoyed gardening, watching high school sports, and spending time with family, especially riding his jet ski on the Clarion River. He is survived by his wife: Marjorie Henry, Dade City, FL; daughter: Carol & Bruce Kiser, Marble, PA; son: Gary & Darla Henry, Rimersburg, PA; daughter: Dr. Denise & Tony Lavrich, Brooksville, FL; daughter-in-law: Erma Henry, Pittsburg, PA; son-in-law: Jon Drew, Kittaning, PA; 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife: Garnet I. Henry; son: Dennis Henry; daughter: Marsha Drew; parents: Cora Burns and Edwin Henry; and 3 brothers: Turney Henry, Albert Henry, and Max Henry. Memorial services will be held 1pm, Saturday, January 27, 2007 at the 1st United Methodist Church in Clarion, PA. Family request memorial donations in his memory sent to the Clarion Hospital Cancer Center or Hernando-Pasco Hospice.

Victoria Jean Gough
Victoria Jean Gough, 57, of Dade City, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at Pasco Regional Medical Center. Born January 11, 1950 in Dade City, Fl she was the daughter of the late Allen Raulerson and Bula (Palmer) Nipper. On August 18, 1967 she was united in marriage to Henry Alton Gough Jr. in Webster, Fl. Her favorite enjoyments were Bingo and trips to Biloxi. Survivors include her beloved husband of 40 years, Henry Gough Jr. of Dade City; 3 sons, Allen Gough (Arlene), Michael Gough (Kim), Henry “Goober” Gough III (Jill) all of Dade City; 1 daughter, Carol Ann Wander (Scott) of Okeechobee; 4 sisters, Laura Hadley (JC), Alice Debruyn (Lonnie Smith), Cindy Jett, Rene Virkler (Chief) 1 brother, Terry Nipper; 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her including her best friend, Lee Trevino; good friend and brother-in-law, Jean Gough; family friend, Eric Gilliard; and canine companions, Lucy and Baby. Friends may call upon the family today, January 18, 2006, from 6-8 PM at Hodges Family Funeral Home U.S. Highway 301 Dade City, Fl. Funeral Services will be held Friday at 9:30 AM at the Funeral Home.

Patricia L. Sixt
Sixt, Patricia L., 73 of Zephyrhills, Florida, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2007 in Tampa. She was born Sept. 23, 1933 in Watertown, NY the daughter of Augustus Beck Kane and Myrtle Irene (Connell) Kane. She graduated from Sacketts Harbor High School, Sacketts Harbor, NY. She had resided in DeRuyter and Verona Beach, NY for many years and had wintered in Florida for several years, before permanently moving to Zephyrhills in 1992. She spent the majority of her career in various food service managerial positions in Upstate New York. She was preceded death by her husbands, Orville DeForest Button in 1988 and Donald Joseph Sixt in 2002; the father of her children, Frederick Lawrence, Sr. and two brothers, Lawrence Dean Kane and Robert Cecil Kane. She is survived by her children: Kathryn Renee Lawrence of Utica, NY, Frederick Earl Lawrence of Clayton, OK, Victoria Lynn Robbins of Goodyear, AZ, James Delbert Lawrence of Tully, NY and Rebecca Joette Lawrence of DeRuyter, NY; her sisters, Marjorie Orcutt of Oneida Castle, NY and Sally Ann Brouse of Adams, NY; her “boys”, Rocky and Skeeter; many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Memorial visitation will be 2 to 4 pm., Monday, January 22, 2007 at Hodges Family Funeral Home, 36327 Highway 54, Zephyrhills. Inurnment will be at a later date in New York.

J.C. Sparkman
Sparkman, J.C., 83, of Dade City, passed away Monday, January 15, 2007 at the rehab center at Heritage Park Care Center in Dade City. He was born April 29, 1923 in Manatee, FL, to Harley Reid Sparkman and Belle Tomberlin Sparkman and moved to Dade City in 1941 from Bartow, FL. He retired from the Withlacoochee River Electric Co-op and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dade City. He was also active with the Cummers Hunt Club, the Dade City Rod & Gun Club, and the Fox Hunters Club. He is survived by his wife of 55 years: Vivian Head Sparkman, Dade City, FL; 3 sisters: Margaret S. Parrish, Dade City, FL, Hazel S. & Gwayne Baldwin, Montgomery, AL, Helen S. & Byron Wales, Raceland, LA; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: H.R. and Belle Sparkman; 2 brothers: E.B. “Stack” Sparkman and William L. “Bill” Sparkman; and 1 brother-in-law: Rhuda Parrish. Funeral services will be held 11am Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at the 5th Street Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens. Friends may call from 6-8pm Tuesday evening at the 5th street chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home.

Martha Rosemary Smith
Smith, Martha R., 72., of Dade City, died Sunday, January 14th, 2007 at Royal Oak Nursing Center. She moved here from here native Cleveland, Ohio in 1969 and was a retired as a Store Manager for Southland Corporation in 1986. She is the Beloved Mother of Sandi Puntel of Crossville, TN, Cindy Kuhn and her husband, Michael of St. Petersburg, Michele Pugh and her husband, Gary of Crossville, Marylou Jordan and her husband, Thomas of Dade City, Denise Schettino and her husband William of Tampa and Daniel Smith and his wife, Darlene of Land O' Lakes; thirteen grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. Services and burial will be in Cleveland, Ohio.

Jeanette Birbeck
Jeanette Birbeck 71, Zephyrhills, “Florida went to be with her lord January 14, 2007. She was born February 12, 1935 in Fort Fairfield, Maine. She graduated from Hartford High School 1954 and married her high school sweetheart Al Birbeck September 29th 1956. She practiced as a Cosmetologist and Cosmetology Instructor. They spent the majority of their life together in Grand Rapids Michigan. After retiring they traveled. They became permanent residents of Zephyrhills, Florida in 2000. Jan and Al celebrated 50 years of marriage serving the Lord together. She was a member of First Assembly of God in Zephyrhills, Florida. Jan is survived by her husband Al, Daughters Dr. Tammy Birbeck, and Karen Birbeck-Schulte; son -in law Todd Schulte; grandchildren, Rebekah Bush, Aaron Finney, Joshua Bush, Nathan Finney, Caleb Walcott, Laurel Schaaf, Brooke Schaaf. She had a servant’s heart and will be deeply missed by many friends and family members. Friends and family are invited to a memorial service Wednesday January 17, 2007 at 1:00pm at First Assembly of God in Zephyrhills, Florida with luncheon to follow in the family life center. Hodges Family Funeral Home, Hwy 54 Chapel, Zephyrhills in charge of arrangements.

Madeline Vandervort
Vandervort, Madeleine G., 66 years, of Zephyrhills, passed away Friday, January 12, 2007 at Hernando Pasco Hospice Care Center, Dade City. She was born January 19, 1940 in Kansas City, Missouri the daughter of Ernest Clyde and Geraldine Heleine Wilson Burrus. She has lived in Zephyrhills for over 60 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester John Vandervort, Sr. She is survived by her children: Sylvester, Jr. of North Tampa, Robert C. Vandervort of Winter Haven, FL and Ava H. Vandervort of Zephyrhills; her brothers, John Burrus of Zephyrhills and David Vandervort of Tampa. She was a good wife, mother and friend to many. Memorial services will be conducted at a later date. Hodges Family Funeral Home, Highway 54 Chapel in charge of arrangements.

Idell Houston
Houston, Idell, 98 yrs, of Lake Orion, Michigan and former Shady Oaks, Zephyrhills, Florida, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2007. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Houston, Sr. She is survived by two sons: Lester (Pat) Houston, Jr. of The Villages, FL and Bob (Janet) Houston of Waterford, MI; a sister-in-law, Barbara McBride of Zephyrhills; her six grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren and a great great grandson. Funeral services 11 a.m., Saturday, January 20, 2007 at Hodges Family Funeral Home, Hwy 301 Chapel, Dade City with burial to follow at Chapel Hill Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m until service time.

James Michael Phillips
Phillips, James Michael, 60, of Dade City, passed away Tuesday evening, January 9, 2007, after a brief illness. He was born October 16, 1946 in Boca Raton, FL, to William Phillips and Hazel Maxine Chestnut and was a longtime resident of the Dade City area. He retired after many years with Postal Service in Dade City and was a US Air Force Veteran having served in the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his mother: Maxine Humphreys, Dade City, FL; 1 sister: Anita Phillips, Dade City, FL; 2 sons: Larry Phillips, North Charleston, SC, Tony Phillips, Dade City, FL; 1 daughter: Amanda Phillips, Sanford, FL; and 4 grandchildren. Graveside services will be held 10am Friday, January 12, 2007 at Chapel Hill Gardens Cemetery in Dade City with Rev. Kevin Morris officiating.

Anna (Annahit) Manasian Nanian
Nanian, Anna (Annahit) Manasian, was born on May 8, 1927 and left her earthly family on Sunday, January 7, 2007 to join her husband, Martin J. Nanian and her youngest son, Gary M. Nanian. Anna was the youngest daughter of Makrouhe and Garabed Narsasian Manasian of Niagara Fall, NY. Her father left Turkish Armenia, during WWI, to avoid military conscription into the Turkish Army (Armenian males were immediately killed upon enlistment or sent to slave-labor camps) and came to America. Her mother fled from the Armenian town of Van, on foot with her immediate family to a British refugee camp in Bombay, India. After two years, she received passage money from her husband to come to America. Anna also possessed a spirit for survival, having survived typhoid fever (the first case in 25 years in Niagara Falls) and rheumatic fever as a child. As the daughter of immigrants, there was no money for college, so Anna worked in a library as a children’s librarian. Later she met and married Martin J. Nanian and moved to Jackson, Michigan and raised their six children. Her love of books generated having a library in the marital home, with a shelf reserved for books on Armenia. She inspired a love books in her children through her great storytelling abilities. After her children had graduated from high school and
college, Anna moved to Dade City, Florida to join her husband and three daughters. Anna was from the generation that believed that motherhood was a profession, and
she took her job very seriously. It was important that her children were surrounded by love, raised with Christian values and given the opportunity for an education. This petite, 79 year old lady leaves behind her two sisters: Elizabeth Manasian and Rose and her husband, Louie Battino; a nephew, Charles & his wife, Sue Battino, all of Niagara Falls, NY; five children: Marjorie Nanian, of Novi, MI; Debra & her husband George Welch and Elizabeth & her husband Michael Mitchell, both of Dade City; Corinne and her husband, Ted Cook of Blythewood, SC; and Arthur Nanian of White Lake, MI; 11 grandchildren: Maryann and George Mugerian, Andrew and Tyler Welch, Gary, Robby, Teddy and Jordan Cook, Correen, Thomas and Alexander Mitchell; and God-son, Tobias and his wife Linda Timm of East Lansing, MI. A funeral service will be held at 4 pm Thursday, January 11 with visitation one hour prior to the funeral at Hodges Family Funeral Home, 301 Chapel, Dade City with Father Doug Zimmerman officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in Hillcrest Cemetery, Jackson, MI. In respecting honor Anna’s love of books, the family requests that donation be made to the following libraries: Hugh Embry, 14215 4th St., Dade City; Pasco Elementary School, 37350 Florida Ave, Dade City; Zephyrhills Public Library, 5347 8th St., Zephyrhills or Zephyrhills High School, 6335 12th St., Zephyrhills.

Dalton Patrick George
George, Dalton Patrick, 13, died Friday, January 5, 2007 in a fatal car accident. He was a 7th grade student at Weightman Middle School where he participated with the Lacrosse and Chess Team. He is survived by his parents, Dale C. George and Sherry R. George; 2 brothers, Michael W. Nelson, Tampa, Cody L. George, Wesley Chapel; 3 sisters, Alice Nelson, Wesley Chapel, Chantel George, Tampa, Rebecca D. George, Wesley Chapel; paternal grandparents, Jerry and Clara George, maternal great grandmother, Georgia Ann Mathis; maternal grandparents, Ronald and Christi Mathis, Bonifay; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He will be missed and loved by all. Friends may call from 5-7pm Tuesday evening at Hodges Family Funeral Home 54 Chapel in Zephyrhills. Funeral services will be held 11am Wednesday, January 10, 2009 at the funeral home with Rev. Ben Gallon officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to the family to help defray funeral expenses.
