Myles, Bruce, 66, of Zephyrhills, left this life on January 1, 2007. Mr. Myles was born on November 7, 1940 in Port Huron, MI to Earl Edward and Lydia Myles. Mr. Myles loved fishing, boating, and traveling. He left a message to his friends and family: “I had a good life, my blessing were many. The land of the Free, Home of the Brave, ever mindful that it is only possible under God’s good will. And may God bless all my friends and family for all your love and prayers.” Mr. Myles is survived by his son Bruce Myles Jr. of Port Huron, MI. A memorial service will be held in his honor today at 2:00 pm at the New River Church on Ernest Drive and State Road 54. Arrangements were handled by Hodges Family Funeral Home, Zephyrhills, FL.
Carl John Halladay
Halladay, Carl John, 63 of Zephyrhills, after a 2 year battle with cancer, went to be with our Lord on January 3, 2007. Carl, our perfect “gentle” man was raised and lived in Groton New York for over 40 years. Carl worked for Empire Soils and Smith Corona in New York for over 30 years. Carl moved to Zephyrhills, FL in 1990 and worked for Lykes for 8 years and the Jed Pittman Clerk of the Circuit Court for 7 years before retiring in October 2006. Carl leaves behind his beloved wife, Diana Lynn Halladay of Zephyrhills; sister, Annette Sharpsteen of Cortland, NY; daughters, Cheryl and her husband Matt Dobush of Dryden, NY and Melinda and her husband Tom Stelick of Groton, NY; step-daughter, Dawn Zampitella of Brandon, FL; and grandchildren, Katie and Sarah Stelick, Joshua and Jessica Dobush, Lauren and Caitlyn Zampitella.
A celebration of his Carl’s life will be held at the Blanton Baptist Church, 17351 Hyland Lane, Dade City FL 33523 on Saturday, January 6, 2007 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Blanton Baptist Church or Hernando Pasco Hospice in Dade City.
Mary Treat Richards
Mary Treat Richards, 85, of Plant City, passed away December 31, 2006 at her family home. Born May 29, 1921 in Genoa, NY, She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Grace (Shaw) Elser. She was united in marriage to Wilson Treat who passed away in 1990. She later married Wesley Richards who also passed away. Mary retired from Cayuga County Nursing Home, Auburn, NY. She moved from New York to Zephyrhills, Florida in 1982, then to Plant City , Fl. in 2001. She was a member of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Plant City. She was predeceased by 2 brothers, Charles Elser and John Elser. Survivors include 1 daughter, Marjorie Treat (David) Bowden of Plant City, Fl; 2 sisters, Edith Mayette of Tampa, Fl and Yvonne Fox of Marathon, NY; 2 brothers, Donald Elser of Moravia, NY and Albert Elser of Genoa, NY; 4 grandchildren, Michael Bowden, Edward Bowden, Patricia McCarty, and Catherine Deese and 8 great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 6, 2006 at 11 AM at Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Plant City, Fl. with Rev. Donald Mason and David Martin, officiating. Barbara A. Lasher
Lasher, Barbara A., 73, of Zephyrhills, FL, passed away Monday evening, January 1, 2007 at Florida Hospital Zephyrhills. She was born May 4, 1933 in Hudson, NY, to Alexander Scrodin and Amelia Durnick and moved to Zephyrhills 14 years ago from Middleburgh, NY. She was a retail sales clerk. She is survived by her daughter: Lynne Westervelt, and her husband, Bob Henderson, of Zephyrhills, FL; 1 grandson: Jeffrey Westervelt, Zephyrhills, FL; 2 nephews: Thomas Scrodin, Bristol, VT, Michael Scrodin, Burlington, VT. A memorial gathering will be held Friday afternoon, January 5, 2007, from 2-4pm at the 301 Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home in Dade City. She will be interred next to her husband, Eldridge W. Lasher Jr. at the Chapel Hill Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family request donations in her memory to the Arthritis Foundation at 410 12th Street W., Bradenton, FL 34205, and specify for Rheumatoid Arthritis research.
Kennard E. Jr., “Curly” Gibbons
Gibbons, Kennard E. Jr., “Curly”, 57, of Zephyrhills, left this life while under the care of Heartland of Zephyrhills Nursing Home. Mr. Gibbons was born on March 6, 1949 in Bellaire, OH to parents Kennard and Bertha Gibbons. He was baptized into the Methodist church and served in the United States Coast Guard for 7 years. He returned home to work at International Harvest for 10 years and owned the family business, “3K’s Night Club” of Shadyside, OH and was the owner of Ethel’s Lounge and Zephyr Bowling Alley. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Teena Gibbons, his daughter Tammy Perkins and step-daughter Deana Hughes as well as four grandchildren Cody, Jaeden, Dillon, and Emily. He also leaves behind several siblings 2 brothers, and 1 sister and many dear friends and extended family. He joins in Heaven and his family sends a special memorial to Charlie Gibbons. A memorial service will be held at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL, on January 12, 2007 at 12:30pm. Michael David Petrizzo
Michael David Petrizzo, 31, of Wesley Chapel, FL, died December 31, 2006, at home after a yearlong battle with cancer. Michael was predeceased by his grandparents, Alfred DeBoben, Louis DeBoben, Dolores Boylan DeBoben, Thomas A. Petrizzo, Mary Cronin Petrizzo, and his aunt, Debra DeBoben Mock. He will be forever missed by his parents, Michael P. Petrizzo and Patricia DeBoben Petrizzo of Wesley Chapel, and his brother, Adam Petrizzo of St. Petersburg, FL. He will also be lovingly remembered by aunts Carol Rost of New City, NY, Christine Pennington of Palm Bay, FL, Kathleen Petrizzo of Orlando, FL, uncles Mark DeBoben of Seffner, FL, Kurt DeBoben of Ft. Pierce, FL, Thomas Petrizzo of Monroe, NY, and ten cousins. Michael was born in Jacksonville, FL, where he attended San Jose Episcopal and St. Joseph’s Catholic Elementary Schools. He moved to Mission Viejo, CA, in 1988, attending Capistrano Valley High School before moving to Tampa in 1992. A graduate of Chamberlain High School, Michael attended Florida State University and was a lab technician for several area businesses. Michael fought a long, hard battle against his disease but ultimately lost. An avid fisherman and nature lover, Michael is now wading the flats, fishing pole in hand, the warm rays of the sun on his face, enjoying the peace he was denied in life. His family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Moffitt Cancer Center for their excellent care throughout his illness and Hernando-Pasco Hospice for giving him dignity and comfort in his final days. Ernest Lee Shank
Ernest Lee Shank, 67, of Zephyrhills, FL. went home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 1, 2007 while in the care of Hernando Pasco Hospice Care Center. He was the son of Paul U. and Della M. Shank of Funkstown, MD. He was born August 22, 1939. Ernie, as he was known to most, was raised by his grandparents, Jacob B. and Della Mae Monninger. He graduated from South Hagerstown High School in Hagerstown, MD in 1957. He was honorably discharged from the Navy. He married his wife Fern (Martin) Shank on August 24, 1962. He was an accomplished salesman at Brewer’s Saab in Maugansville, MD and Hamilton Pontiac Cadillac Nissan in Hagerstown, MD. He was a former member of Broadfording Church of God in Hagerstown, MD. He was also a previous member of Community Rescue Service in Hagerstown. Ernie and his family moved to Zephyrhills, FL in August 1988. He became a member of Zephyr Christian Church in 1992. He was also a previous member of the Zephyrhills Lion’s Club. He retired from Iggesund Tools, North America, Inc. in Oldsmar, FL. He is survived by his loving wife, Fern, of 44 years. He was the proud father of Curtis (Dale) Dwight, Scott (Andrea) Steven, and Della Marie and grandfather of Emma Li, Jacob, Devon, and Dylan. He is also survived by his sister, Violet Kendall, all of Zephyrhills, and step-grandchildren Tim, Rob, and John (wife Crystal) Buchanan; and step –great-grandchildren Timothy and Nicholas Buchanan of Kissimmee, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Della Shank and his sisters, Ruth Shank and Virginia Wiles. Memorial donations can be made in his name to Zephyr Christian Church or Hernando Pasco Hospice. Viewing hours will be held from 6-8pm on Thursday, January 4th, 2007 at Hodges Family Funeral Home (36327 State Road 54, Zephyrhills) and funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 5, 2007 at 10am at the Zephyr Christian Church with burial to follow at Oakside Cemetery.
Rev. Donald B. Gollinge
Gollinge, Reverend. Donald B., 76, of Zephyrhills, Florida, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2006 at Florida Hospital Zephyrhills. He was born May 13, 1930 in New York City the son of Fred and Irene Daly Gollinge. He was ordained May 31, 1958 by the Archdiocese of New York where he served in numerous parishes throughout the Diocese. He retired to the Pocono’s and later resided in Zephyrhills, where he assisted at St. Joseph Catholic Church. He served as the chaplain for Father Rittmeyer, Council of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by a brother and several nieces and nephews and his extended family, Louis and Ann Barbarino of Kunkletown, PA, Carolyn Forsyth of Staten Island, NY and Chuck and Suzanne Dornquast and family of Zephyrhills. Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m, Wednesday, January 3, at Hodges Family Funeral Home, 36327 Highway 54, Zephyrhills. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m., Thursday, January 4th, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Zephyrhills with burial to follow at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery, San Antonio, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Knights of Columbus Scholarship Fund in care of St. Joseph Church.
Henry L. Houser
Houser, Henry L., 78, of Zephyrhills, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2006 at Heartland of Zephyrhills. He was born October 6, 1928 in Evansville, TN the son of Dave and Adah Houser. He has lived in the Tampa area and Tennessee most of his life. He was a retired concrete mason. He is survived by daughter, Sharon and her husband, Larry Hale of Zephyrhills; grandchildren: Brad and wife Jennifer Hale and Ashley and her husband Keith Rummage all of Zephyrhills; and great grandson, Matthew Hale. Graveside services will be held at 10:00am on Thursday at Chapel Hill Gardens Cemetery, Dade City with Pastor Marc Roath officiating.
Fred Byron Cutler
Cutler, Fred Byron, age 77 of Zephyrhills passed away Monday, January 1, 2007. He was born July 1, 1929 to Byron and Evelyn Cutler in Middletown, NY. Fred joined the Air Force as a young man and proudly fought in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He is a decorated veteran. He retired as a Technical Sergeant of the Air Force in July of 1969. He then became a park ranger for Hillsborough County. He is survived by his sons, Wade Cutler and Jeffrey Cutler of Zephyrhills; a daughter, Martha Flippo of Texas; brother Glen and Gene Cutler of New York; Grandchildren Jennie Griffin of Lowville, NY, Michael Cutler of Zephyrhills, Jeffrey Cutler of Ridge Manor; and great grandchildren Isaiah, MacKenzie, Zachary and Michael Griffin of Lowville, NY. Visitation will be 6 to 7 pm Thursday at Hodges Family Funeral Home, 36327 Highway 54, Zephyrhills. Graveside services will be 1:30 Friday at Florida National Cemetery with Military Honors.
