Tabb, George Garland, 70, of Dade City, died Monday, November 27, 2006 at home. A resident of this area since 1974 when he retired after 20 years service in the US Marine Corps as a SSGT. He also was retired from Pasco County after serving 26 years in the surveying department. Survivors include his wife, Judy; his Mother Sally Zerby of Tallahassee; his children, Butch Tabb of Butte, Montana, Teresa Gregory of Zephyrhills, George Hiser of Tampa, Julie Sanchez of Tampa and Robert Tabb of Mesa, Arizona; a sister, Annette Reeves of Tallahassee, M.O. Tabb of Cathedral City, CA and Billy Tabb of Jacksonville; a half sister, Kay Brooks of Gainesville; a half brother, Rusty Zerby of Jacksonville; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; an aunt, Irene Vause of Panacea Springs, FL; and 22 nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the 5th Street Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, November 30, 2006. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, December 1, 2006 at 11:15p.m. with Brother King officiating. Burial will follow, with full Marine Military Honors, at Florida National Cemetery.
Robert L. "Bobby" Abraham
Abraham, Robert Lewis "Bobby", 53, of Dade City, died Sunday, November 26, 2006. A life long area resident, he was employed in the family business, Zip Fuel for 33 years. Currently he was a farmer in Trenton, Florida and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dade City. A loving husband, son, brother, and friend, he will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his wife, Dawn of Dade City; a son, Kye Abraham and his wife, Jody of Michigan; two step daughters, Jessica Goldinger and Amber Coburn both of South Carolina; his mother, Mildred of Dade City; a brother, Tony Abraham and his wife, Pam of Dade City; two sisters, Lisa Rodenberry and her husband, Kip of Orlando and Laura Hart of Dade City; three grandchildren, Chad Abraham and Aaron Abraham, both of Michigan and McKenzie Goldinger of South Carolina; an aunt, Lorise Abraham of Dade City; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Lewis Abraham in 2004. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 29, 2006 in the 5th Street Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am. at the funeral home on Thursday, November 30, 2006 with Pastor Eldridge Parrish officiating.
Madill, Florrie Mae Ansley
Madill, Florrie Mae Ansley, 91, of Dade City, died Friday, November 24, 2006, at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Center in Dade City. Born in Blanton, she was a 3rd generation Floridian. A pioneer Pasco family, she and her late Husband, Edwin L. Madill were instrumental in establishing business in this area, including Pasco Motors, Madill Furniture Store, as well as others, and were active community leaders. She was the founder of Madill Furniture Store in Dade City and ran the store until her retirement. After she retired she became a full time homemaker and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dade City. She was a former member of the Dade City Garden Club and the Dade City Women’s Club. A beautiful lady, a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and friend, she will be missed by all those who knew her. Survivors include two daughters, Nina Sue Nash and her husband Gerald S., Sr. of Covington, Georgia and Carol Madill Lockey, and her husband, Dr. Richard F. Lockey of Tampa; three grandchildren, Nina Sue Casillo, Gerald S. Nash, Jr. and Richard A. Nash and his wife Jody.; five great grandchildren, Chelsea Casillo, Kailee Casillo, Rebeka Casillo, Hogan Lee Nash and Ansley Mae Nash; and by a cousin, Bill Clanton of Dade City. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, 5th Street Chapel, from 5-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 28, 2006. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at the First United Methodist Church in Dade City with Rev. Al Brock and Dr. James Renault officiating. Burial will follow at Dade City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to Hernando-Pasco Hospice, First United Methodist Church of Dade City or Blanton Methodist Church.
Gerald McLeod
MCLEOD, Gerald, 76, passed away November 23, 2006, at home in San Antonio, Fla. Born in Kinston, Ala., in 1930, he moved to Dade City, Fla., in 1952. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Irma; two daughters, Cindy Waller and Vicki Crutcher; five sons, Mike, Randy, Rodney, Tim and John; 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jack McLeod of Madison, Fla. and Max McLeod of Whittier, N.C. He served three years active duty in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the San Antonio Jaycees, bringing the idea of the rattlesnake roundup from his native Alabama town to San Antonio, Fla. He founded Southern Machinery & Equipment, S&M Enterprises and Murrell Pest Control, Inc. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, passing that love to his children and grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Monday, November 27, 2006 from 5-7:00p.m. Funeral services will be held in the 5th Street Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 28, 2006 with Father Henry Riffle and Chares Waller officiating. Thomas Palermo
Palermo, Thomas , 84 of Zephyrhills, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at Sunbelt Health Care Center. He was born November 13, 1922 in Rochester, NY. They have lived in Zephyrhills for the last 20 years. He was a kind, gentle and loving man. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Darl; his son, Joseph T. Palermo of Rochester, NY; his sister, Teresa Nowack of Rochester, NY; a granddaughter, Christine Hendershot of Lovington, NM and a great granddaughter, Amber Sherrell. Services private with interment in Rochester, NY at a later date.
Nathaniel James McLaughlin
McLaughlin, Nathaniel James, 19, of Zephyrhills, passed away suddenly Saturday, November 18, 2006, as a result of an automobile accident. He was born on March 28, 1987 in Charleston, WV, the son of Larry and Kim McLaughlin. He worked as a house painter and he loved scuba diving, art and music. He truly loved his friends and family. He is survived by his parents, Larry and Kim; brother, Matthew and sister, Elizabeth; grandparents, Iris McLaughlin, of Berkeley Springs, WV, and Reino and Rachel Salmi of Bay Village, OH, and aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many dear fiends. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 pm on Friday, November 24, 2006 at Hodges Funeral Home, 14046 5th Street, Dade City. A celebration of Nathan’s life, here and in heaven, will be held at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 37637 Magnolia Ave, Dade City, on Saturday, November 25, 2006 at 11:00 am.. Contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts of America or to the St. Mary’s Youth Group.
Virginia Pond Foss
Foss, Virginia Pond, 92, of Wesley Chapel, Florida passed away on November 20, 2006 after a brief illness. Born June 22, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Howard L. and Nell Martin Pond. She was a 1932 graduate of Rutland High School. Her family were pioneers of Meigs County. In 1942 she moved to Athens Ohio where she raised her family. In 1977 she retired from Ohio University and in 1996 moved to Florida to be close to family. Virginia maintained her membership in the First United Methodist Church of Athens. She will most be remembered as a loving mother and for her devotion to family. Her honesty, integrity, mental toughness, and wit were the cornerstone of her life. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother and infant sister, her sister Beatrice Reinhart, and son, Jeffrey L. Foss. She is survived by her son Conrad P. Foss (Wesley Chapel, FL), a brother, Howard L. Pond Jr. (Canal Winchester, OH), five grandchildren, Maria Ballentine (Jacksonville Beach, FL), Shane Foss (Jacksonville, FL), David Foss (Avon, OH), Michael Foss (Wesley Chapel, FL), and five great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 1:00p.m. Saturday Nov. 25, 2006 at Hodges Family Funeral Home, 36327 State Route 54, Zephyrhills, FL, with Rev. Randall Belcher officiating. Interment will take place in the family cemetery at Salem Center (Meigs County) Ohio.
Louise Carrick
Carrick, Louise, 81, of Zephyrhills left this life on November 21, 2006 while at her home under the care of Hernando Pasco Hospice. Mrs. Carrick was born on August 16, 1925 in Flint, Michigan to parents Robert and Edna Elliott. Mrs. Carrick spent most of her life in Michigan where she lived with her beloved husband of 61 years Delbert Carrick. Mr. and Mrs. Carrick came to this area as snow birds 29 years ago and have lived in Zephyrhills permanently for the past 6 years. Mrs. Carrick leaves behind a very loving family including her husband Delbert, her children Donna Ann (Duke) Graessle of Oxford, MI and David (Sam) Carrick of Mio, MI, also her grandchildren Charles O’Dell of Fort Myers and Heather Zeilke of Clarkston, MI. Mrs. Carrick loved to sew and cook and was affectionately known as the “Cookie Lady”. She will be missed by all who knew her. Arrangements for her return home to Michigan were handled by Hodges Family Funeral Home and services will be held in Atlanta, Michigan.
Thomas "Tommy" Groom
Groom, Thomas “Tommy” 55 yrs, of Wesley Chapel, passed away Saturday, November 18, 2006 while at his home. He was born May 4, 1951 in New York the son of William and Ardienne Groom. He has lived in area for 28 years. He was a veteran of US Army. He is survived by his wife: Shelly of Lutz; his children: Carrie Delorey of New Port Richey, Cody Groom of Lutz, and step daughter Allison Hill of Lutz; his sisters: Marilyn Nosworthy of Dawsonville, GA and Adrienne Groom of North Fort Myers, FL; his grandchildren: Cierra Delory and Jakob Groom, many nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 24th, 2006 from 5-7pm and a funeral service will follow at 7:00pm at Hodges Family Funeral Home, 36327 Highway 54, Zephyrhills.
