GILBOW, Deannie Marie Moore, 25, Zephyrhills, passed away April 17, 2007. She was born March 14, 1982 in Panama City, Florida. She is survived by her loving family, including her parents, Cheryl Lynne and William James Moore, son, Brandon Dale Jones, and his father Thomas George Jones, brothers, William Moore, Jr. and Brian Moore, sister, Katie Moore, Charles Gilbow and his mother Ellen Gilbow, grandparents, Harold Moore and Sylvia Brannon all of Zephyrhills, Brandon’s grandparents, Barbara and Dale Lewis, numerous aunts and uncles, , and many, many friends. She will be missed! The family will receive friends April 23, 2007 from 11:00 – 1:00 PM at Hodges Family Funeral Home on Hwy 301 in Dade City. A Service will follow at 1:00 PM with Pastor Joe VanHeerden from Victorious Life officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a fund for Brandon’s Future at Bank of America. Danny Crawford
Crawford, William Daniel Sr., known as Danny Crawford, a life long resident of Dade City, passed away on Friday, April 20th, 2007. A gathering of friends and family will be held at Hodges Family Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 24th at 6:30 p.m. Danny was a loving father to two children, William D. Crawford Jr. and Angela N. Helton nd an adoring grandfather to Robyn, Zackery, Alexandria and Mikayla. He was also survived by his brother, Carl Crawford. Danny was a welder who had worked at Lykes Pasco and GHA Lock Joint Pipe in Lacoochee. All family and friends are welcome to celebrate his life on Tuesday. Please bring any stories or memories that you wish to share.
Oveda Johnson
Johnson, Oveda, 85, a native of Pompano Beach, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2007 in Tampa, Florida. She died confident in the care of her Heavenly Father. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Melvin Johnson. She is survived by her daughter Sue (Susie) and son-in-law Bill Donnan of Wesley Chapel. She was “Nana” to granddaughters Dana Zykoski and husband Scott of Tampa and Dawn Raridon and husband Joe of Sarasota as well as “Nana 2” to her precious great-grandchildren Lauren, Logan, Catherine, Hunter and Taylor.
She was born August 10, 1921 in Pompano Beach to pioneers Dave and Rosa Hardin who came to this area in 1910. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Pompano Beach. A charter member of the Pompano Beach Historical Society she was honored at the Broward County Pioneer Days as an official “Pioneer” in 1991. She will be remembered for organizing the Country Store for the Historical Society’s antique shows for many years. Oveda was loved by her family and friends because of her gift of friendship to all, optimism, wit and sense of humor. No one will ever forget her and she will live forever in our hearts. She has now joined her husband, parents and siblings in heaven, and we pray for their happiness in God and their eternal peace.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 pm on Friday, April 27, 2007 at Kraeer Funeral Home located at 200 North Federal Highway, Pompano Beach, with a graveside service at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 28, 2007 at Pompano Beach Cemetery with Reverend Herschel Creasman officiating.
In honor of Oveda being a 30 year breast cancer survivor, the family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Balbina Tabing
Tabing, Balbina died peacefully and joined our heavenly father April 18, 2007. She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Tabing and her two sisters. A native of Puerto Rico, she lived most of her life in New York City. She was a homemaker and of the Catholic faith. All who knew her will recall her gentle and caring ways and her love of animals. She is survived by three brothers in Puerto Rico and many nieces and nephews, three of whom were close to her during her final days, Edward Mejias, Josephina McNally and Angela Santiago. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, April 26, 2007 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in San Antonio with Father Henry Riffle officiating. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery where she will lay in peace with her beloved sister, Maria. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be sent to Gulfside Regional Hospice, 37826 Sky Ridge Circle, Dade City, Florida 33525.
Buddy Knight
KIGHT, Buddy, 58, of Dade City, passed away Tuesday, April 17th at his home surrounded by his family. He was born December 9, 1948 in Metter, GA, to William Cleveland Kight Jr. and Ermergene Prince Kight. He retired as a meat cutter from Kash N Karry. He is survived by his wife: Barbara L. Kight; 3 children: Sonya & David Surratt, Sabrina & Michael Nordeoff, James & Rachel Kight Jr.; his brother: Dean & Denise Kight; his sister: Mary & Paul Owens; and 6 grandchildren, the joy of Papa’s heart: Dawson “Gator”, Spencer “Scooter”, Landon “Doodlebug”, Caden “Turtle”, Michael “Tiger”, and Addison “Star”. Funeral services will be held 10am Friday, April 20, 2007 at the 301 Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens. Friends may call from 6-8pm Thursday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to Gulfside Regional Hospice.
Ruth Donna Westfield Scribner
Scribner, Ruth Donna Westfield, 88, passed away April 17, 2007. She was born May 17, 1918 in Penfield, New York. She was baptized on July 28, 1929 at the Advent Christian Church, Rochester, NY. She graduated from Penfield High School, Penfield, NY June 1936, one of the top players on her high school basketball team. She married John V. Scribner August 26, 1936 in Bergen, NY. She retired from Loblaws in Erie, PA in 1975 where she worked as a meat packer. After her retirement, she moved to Betmar Estates, Zephyrhills, FL. Throughout her years her activities included bowling, card club, golf, swimming and crafts. She belonged to the visually impaired support group in Zephyrhills. She is survived by her husband, John of 70 years, Zephyrhills, daughter, Janet (Anibal) Medina, Fort Myers, Fl; sons, Robert (Sharon) Cochranton, PA and John R. (Nancy) Yalaha, Fl. Dale (Lorraine), Zephyrhills and Roger (Janice), Interlachen, FL, 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, friend, Elsie Forsberg since 1941, Erie, PA former daughter-in-law, Jeanne Scribner, Erie and former son-in-law, Wilbert (Bummy) Bomgardner, Erie. Visitation will be held at Hodges Family Funeral Home on Hwy 30l in Dade City from 12:00-2:00 PM Thursday, April 19, 2007. A Service will follow at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Hernando Pasco Hospice.
Bernard Connell
Bernard Connell was called home April 12, 2007 at University Community Hospital in Tampa. He was a member of Community Baptist Church, located in Palm
River. He enjoyed his life with his wife, Helen Connell, his daughter Wendy Mesa, Brother Benjamin Connell, Sister Mary Beeler, and Son-in-law Raul Mesa. He lived
his life loving his grandchildren, which are, Kiana Rivas, Kara Powell, Kasie Powell, Kay-lynn Powell,and Christina O'Connell. Bernard will never be forgotten for who he was. He will greatly missed. Friends may call upon the family 6-8 Monday, April 16, at Hodges Funeral Home, 11441 US HWY 301, Dade City. Services will be held 2PM Tuesday at the Funeral Home with Chuck Richards, officiating. Interment will follow at Dade City Cemetery.
Allen L. Troyano
Troyano, Allen L., Sr., 76, Oldsmar , FL , passed away Sunday, April 15, 2007. He was born Jan. 16, 1931 in Brooklyn , NY the son of John and Freida Lock Troyano. He was an interior design contractor and had worked with his son, Allen, Jr. He has lived in Florida the last 23 years and was of the Catholic faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Troyano and his son, Allen, Jr. He is survived by his daughter, Aline (Robert) Bryant, Brooksville, brother, Teddy Troyano, Zephyrhills, sister, Helen Crowther, Oldsmar; 4 grandchildren, a great grandson, many nieces and nephews and friends. Graveside services will be held at 4 pm Tuesday at Spring Lake Methodist Cemetery , Old Spring Lake Road , conducted by Rev. David Stauffer.
John A. Greif
Greif, John A., 66, of Dade City, died April 13, 2007 at Pasco Regional Medical Center. A life long and native resident of this area, he formerly owned S&F Liquors in Lacoochee and was a lifetime member of the NRA. Survivors include three sons, Michael of Franklin, TN, Edward of Georgetown, SC, and Wade of Manhattan, Kansas; two brothers, Jimmy of Dade City and Jerry of San Antonio; a sister, Virginia McKendree of San Antonio; and four grandchildren. A Rosary service will be held at 7p.m. on Thursday, April 19 at 7 p.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church. A celebration of his life will be held at Herman Schrader’s home commencing at 1 p.m. on Saturday, 4/21.
