Crews, Rachel Mae, 88, of Tampa, went to be with the Lord on April 23, 2008. She was born in Perry, Florida, but grew up in on a farm in Zephyrhills. She moved to Ybor City in the 1940s and worked as a cigar roller for Hav-A-Tampa . She married Hubert Crews in 1955 and moved to North Tampa in 1958. She was an excellent cook and mother who, besides raising three sons, took in ironing and child care. An avid reader, although she only completed six years of primary school, she enjoyed working mostly for teachers, for whom she had a great deal of respect. She considered being an educator just as important as being a doctor or even a minister. She took great pride in sending teachers to work with clean, starched shirts and pants. She also loved to cook world-class Southern style vegetables and fried chicken for the kids under her care. She was a life-long member of the Assemblies of God. Survivors include three sons: Ray, a distribution manager at Cork and Olive; Terry, an English teacher at Chamberlain High School; and Gary, a Pasco County Sherriff’s deputy; and a very loving sister, Mertie Bird, who has taught Sunday School at First Assembly of God in Zephyrhills for over seventy years. She is also survived by three grand-daughters: Shannon, Melissa, and Jenifer. A viewing will be held from 5 - 7 PM, April 25, at Hodges Funeral Home, 36327 Hwy 54, Zephyrhills. Funeral services will be held at 9AM, April 26, at Richland Assemblies of God, 8527 Old Lakeland Highway, Zephyrhills.
Katharine Louise Tyler Bardin
Bardin, Katharine Louise Tyler, 77, of Dade City, Florida died April 23, 2008 in Dade City, Florida after a very long and courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. She was born July 15, 1930 in Santa Monica, California. She was raised in Santa Monica, San Francisco and Santa Maria, California. Katharine moved to Dade City in 1962 from Santa Maria. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Robert F. Bardin, her parents, Morgan S. and Marian F. Tyler, two brothers, Morgan S. and Edward F. Tyler, a nephew, Steven G. Tyler, Dade City. She was a wonderful wife, mother, mother-in-law and friend. She is survived by her four children, Robert F. and his wife Karen, Deanna and her husband A.R. "Chip" Mander III, Richard T. and his wife Dina Bardin, Tricia and her husband Derek Hall, four granddaughters: Morgan, Gentry and Shelby Mander and Bailey Bardin, two grandsons: Robert "Robbie" and Matthew Hall. Katharine is also survived by her sister Virginia Wenzel of Oceanside, CA and her brother John and DeDe Tyler of Spicewood, Texas, her sister-in-law Norma Hawes Tyler of Winter Haven, FL and Barbara Gresham, Santa Maria, CA. Her nieces Bunny Cass, Pam Tyler Montgomery, Lisa Snyder, Gail Gresham, Annie Gresham and Elizabeth Gresham all from California, Debra Syntaschk, Texas and Rena Ludwick, Colorado. Her nephews Morgan S. Tyler of Dade City, Dr. John Tyler, Colorado, Brian Tyler, Washington, and Gary Gresham, California. She was a former member of the Pasco County Cowbelles, Dade City Garden Club, Santa Maria Valley Historical Society. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hernando Pasco Hospice or the charity of your choice in her memory. Laugere, Loretta J., 73, of Dade City passed away Tuesday morning, April 22, 2008 at her home. She was born June 29, 1934 in Detroit, MI, to Floyd & Ada Gordon Collyer and moved to this area 18 years ago from New Caney, TX. She was an active member of New Hope Assembly of God. She is survived by 12 children: Ralph, Rochelle, Chris, Adele, Jean, Corinne, Roy, Glenn, Rick, John, Yvette, Ella; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2pm Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at the 301 Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home. Friends may call one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens.

Lois Marie Hendry Johnson
Johnson, Lois Marie Hendry, 71, passed away Friday, April 18, 2008 of heart failure at the Florida Hospital in Zephyrhills. Marie was born October 11, 1936 to William Johnson Hendry and Marjorie Jane Smith Hendry, in Dade City. Marie attended Moody Bible Institute and graduated from Florida Southern College with a Bachelors degree in music. She received her Masters degree in Counseling from the University of South Florida. Marie was a music teacher in the Polk County schools, and served as organist for over fifty years for many denominations in Chicago, Polk County and Pasco County. She is preceded in death by her husband, Carl Henry Johnson, a sister, Diane Sue Mackie, and a son, Carl Henry Johnson, II. She is survived by two sons, Clyde and Sharron Johnson of Amboy, Washington, and Calvin and Karen Johnson of Lakeland, eight grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Free Methodist Church at 21st and Howard in Dade City. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Free Methodist Church. A Memorial Concert is planned for a later date.
Frank R. Petrock
Petrock, Frank R., 79, of Dade City passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2008 under the care of Hernando-Pasco Hospice in Dade City. He was born November 23, 1928 in Summit, NJ to Joseph & Margaret Elizabeth McCaffrey Petrock and moved to this area 10 years ago from Succasunna, NJ. He loved the sunshine, golf, and poker. He was a good man who loved to help others. He is survived by his wife of 59 years: Concetta V. Petrock, Dade City; 5 children: Margaret Gaffney, Andover, NJ, Anthony Petrock, Andover, NJ, Frank Joseph Petrock, Port Charlotte, FL, Anne Deem, Newton, NJ, Theresa Giordano, Hopatcong, NJ; 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was a loving husband and father who loved all of his grandchildren, great grandchildren and many other family members. A memorial service will be held 2pm Monday, April 21, 2008 at St. Rita Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to Hernando-Pasco Hospice. He will be missed tremendously. We love you.

Valcarcel, Nicholas, 78, Crystal Springs, FL, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2008. He was born March 6, 1930 in Cuba. “Nick” as he was affectionately known to all his Sweetbay customers and coworkers will be missed by all. Services will be 4 pm Sunday, April 20 at the Hwy 54 Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home, Zephryhills with Father Kanna officiating. Burial will be later at Hillsborough Memorial Gardens in Brandon.
