Rider, Bette M., 66, of Dade City passed away Saturday, June 21, 2008 in Dade City under the care of Hernando-Pasco Hospice. She was born January 12, 1942 in Chicago, IL to Carl and Margaret Slater Rider and moved to this area 25 years ago. She was a hairdresser and attended St. Mary Episcopal Church. She is survived by her son: Todd A. Stupp, Tucson, AZ; her brother: Al & Carla Rider, Kissimmee, FL; and her sister: Jeri Jeske, Salt Lake City, UT. She was preceded in death by her parents: Carl and Margaret Rider, and three brothers: Tom Rider, Bob Celaya and Richard Celaya. Memorial services will be held 2pm Saturday, June 28, 2008 at St. Mary Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, the family request.
Melvin A. Nicoll
Nicoll, Melvin A., 83, Crystal Springs, FL, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2008. He was born Feb. 20, 1925 in Andover, Mass. He served in the US Navy during World War II. He had been a school custodian having worked at Pasco Elementary School, before retiring. He moved to Pasco Co. from Andover, Mass in 1982. He was a member of St. Matthew’s Masonic Lodge, Andover. He is survived by his four children: Sandra (Christopher) McCarthy, Sharon Nicoll, Jamie Nicoll and Douglas Nicoll; his grandchildren: Caitlin and Zachary Nicoll and Andrew McCarty; his sisters, Doris Hoyer and Ruth Werner; his companion of 24 years, Margaret Hall and her children: Fred Hall, James Hall, Gary Hall, Janet Hall, Daniel Hall, Kenneth Hall and her 13 grandchildren. Services will be 11 am Monday, June 23, at the 301 Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home, Dade City with burial at Chapel Hill Gardens. The family will receive friends 2 hours prior to the service.

Fewox, Jimmy William, 67, of Dade City, formerly of Tampa, FL, went home to be with the Lord Monday June 16, 2008. He was the former owner and operator of Jimmy’s Florist in Tampa for 14 years. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Judy Davis Fewox; daughter Joy Frier and her husband Rev. Mark S. Frier, son Joel William Fewox and his wife S. Kristine Fewox, 2 brothers, Lewis Fewox, Venton, VA and John Fewox, Brooksville, FL; four grandchildren: Jordon Frier, Kelsie, Meaghan and Clay Fewox. A memorial celebration will be held 2pm Saturday, June 21, 2008 at the Dade City Church of God. Mares, Fransisca Ruiz, 79, Dade City, passed away Monday, June 16, 2008. She was born June 19, 1928 in Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico. She has lived in Dade City the last 37 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carmen Mares. She is survived by her children: Eugania Gallegos, TX, Maria Luisa, WI, Jose Luis Mares, Dade City, Tomas Mares, Dade City, Juana Alicia Mares, Dade City, Juana Maria Garcia, Dade City and Dora Serna, Dade City;22 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. Visitation will be 10:30 to 12:30 pm Friday at the 301 Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home, Dade City. Funeral Mass will be 1 pm Friday at St. Rita Catholic Church with Father Raphael Martos. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens.

Crisp, Blanche I., 87, Ridge Manor, died Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at Florida Hospital Zephyrhills. A native of Virginia she moved to this area in 1979. Survivors include two sons, Gerald Crisp and his wife, Jeanette of Webster and Phillip R. Crisp and his wife, Dianne of Dade City; a brother, Jess Crouse of Bandy, Virginia; two sisters, Eura Pruett of Poundy Mill, Virginia and Grace Mackiwitz Newark, Delaware;13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Ralph Crisp; s son, Ronald Dean Crisp; a grandson, Gerald “Jay” Crisp; and 6 brothers; and 2 sisters. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 19, 2008 from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, June 20, 2008 at the 5th Street Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Florida National Cemetery. Reception to follow at Dade City Moose Lodge.

Steele, James C., Jr., 88, Zephyrhills, passed away Monday, June 16, 2008. He was born March 30, 1920 in Brackenridge, PA. He has lived in Zephyrhills since 1983. He is survived by his wife of 19 ½ years, Charlene; his children: Rev. J. C. (Caroline) Steele, III, Deltona, FL and Janet (Bill) Harrell, Sarvar, PA; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; stepchildren: Phyllis Witzigman, Oneida, NY, Debra Hubbard, Munsville, NY, Edna Anderson, Lancaster, KY, Phillip Hubbard, Jr., Oneida, NY and Edith Fera, Oneida, NY; 9 step grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren. Memorial Services will be 11 am, Saturday June 28, 2008 at Zephyrhills Alliance Church. Inurnment will be in Oakside Cemetery.

Bauknight, Pauline, 85, of Dade City, died Monday, June 16, 2008 at Zephyr Haven Nursing Care Center. A native of West Virginia, she moved to this area in 1977. She was a homemaker and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dade City. Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Maples and her husband, Eric of Dade City; and a grandson, Cory Maples of Plant City. She was predeceased by her husband, JW Bauknight. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at the 5th Street Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, June 19, 2008. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens.

Chessher, Rhett 67, of Dade City went home to be with the Lord June 13, 2008. She came to this area in 1947 from Baker, FL. She was a beautician by trade, and was employed at Merv's Barber Shop. She was preceded in death by her parents; Joseph and Alma Williams Chessher, 2 sisters; Wilma Gosnell and Mary Chessher, and 1 son; Fred Rodgers Armstrong Jr. She is survived by 5 daughters: Debra Collins, Dade City, Rita Crews, Lakeland, Loretta Mazol, Orlando, Vera Wiggins and Sara Mcdonald, Lake City; 4 sons: Allen Hart, Dade City, Willie and Phillip Rodriguez, John Anderson, all of Lake City; 4 brothers: John, Joe, and J.B. Chessher, all of Lacoochee, Void Chessher, Sanford, 5 sisters: Maggie Chessher, Lacoochee, Maxie McClamma and Mollie Head, both of Bushnell, Tish Briggs, Zephyrhills, Faye Hobbs, Dade City, 20 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 10am Friday, June 18, 2008 at the Heart Center Church of God in Lacoochee. She will be laid to rest at Richland Baptist Church Cemetery. Private First Class Norman “Ehren” Murburg III
Murburg III, Private First Class Norman “Ehren”, 20 of Dade City passed away during his green beret training June 10, 2008 in North Carolina. He was born July 20, 1987 in Dunedin, FL to Norman Murburg Jr and Karen Goldblatt Murburg. Ehren graduated with honors from Pasco High School in 2005 and was a Bright Futures Scholar at the University of Florida where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He is survived by his father: Norman Murburg Jr & Carol Wilson of Dade City; his mother: Karen Goldblatt Murburg of Clearwater; his sister: Erica Murburg of Dade City; his grandmothers: Thelma Murburg of Norwood, NJ, Dorothy Goldblatt of St. Petersburg, FL; his step-brothers: Dyami Wilson, Kirby Wilson, and step-sister: Lena Wilson, all of Clearwater, FL. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers: Maurice M. Goldblatt and Lt. Commander Norman Murburg. Funeral services will be held 11am Thursday, June 19, 2008 at St. Anthony of Padua in San Antonio, FL. Friends may call from 6-8pm Wednesday evening at the 301 Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home and from 9:30am till 11am at the church on Thursday morning. Interment will follow at Florida National Cemetery with military honors.
