Thomas Carlyle (Pop) Foster
Thomas Carlyle Foster (Pop)-86, Master Sergeant U.S. Army (Retired) passed away May 28, 2008 at Baldomero Lopez Nursing Home after a long courage battle with Alzheimer's. He was born in 1921 to Dewey and Goldie Foster in Huntington, WV; He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Fred Foster of Toledo, Ohio and long time companion May Young . He is survived by his loving and devoted daughter Rosalind Foster Love, son in law Neil, granddaughter Kecia Adkins and grandson Michael Love. Tom served in World War II, traveling to Africa, Italy and Germany. He was awarded many metals for his service to the country including the Bronze Star. After retiring from the Army, Tom worked for the C & O railroad as a data entry clerk, eventually retiring from the railroad and moving to Tampa, FL with his family. His family could not have asked for a better father and grandfather. He will be deeply missed. There will be no services per Tom's wishes, in lieu of flowers please donate to your local Veterans organization or to your local Alzheimer's association . Howard N. Christopher
Christopher, Howard, N., 67, of Ridge Manor, died Saturday, May 31, 2008 at home. A native of NJ, he moved to this area in 1970 and was a US Navy Veteran. He was the owner of several service stations in Tampa and Zephyrhills. He was a member of the FVW, American Legion, the Moose Lodge, AmVet, and the Gold Wing Road Riders. Survivors include his wife, Eva; a son Daniel N. Christopher and his wife, Heather of Shullsburg, WI; seven step-grandchildren; 20 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held in the 5th Street Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home Family Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2008. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Florida National Cemetery.
Charles Melvin Stanberry
Charles Melvin Stanberry, 60, of Ridge Manor passed away Thursday, May 29, 2008 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born July 11, 1947 in Bellaglade, Fl to Jenny and Floyd Stanberry. He served in the United States Army from 1966 to1969. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Stanberry on May 1, 1971.He retired as a foreman for the Railroad Company. Some of his enjoyments included fishing, cooking and collecting trains. Above all he loved spending time with his grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 sister, Corrine Blount and 1 brother in law, Jr. Johnson. Survivors include his beloved wife of 37 years, Elizabeth of Ridge Manor; 2 sisters, Clonia (Buddy) Bradey of Georgia and Carolyn Johnson of AL; 1 son, Casey Melvin Stanberry of Ridge Manor; 3 daughters, Sara Fern Stanberry, Joy Lynn Stanberry both of Ridge Manor and Holly Ann Stanberry of AL; 1 grandchild, Rosie Lanigan of Ridge Manor; 5 brother in laws, Jimmy (Patsy)Keen of Wildwood, Tommy Keen of Wildwood, Roger (Pat)Lee of FL, Mike (Fonda) Keen of Corbin, KY and Jimmy Blount and Family of Dade City; Faithful Friend, Rex and side kick, Honey. Visitation will be 4-6 Sunday, June 1st at Hodges Family Funeral Home 11441 US Hwy 301, Dade City Fl 33525. Funeral Services are 11 AM Monday at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Florida National Cemetery.
Rosalie Cooner
Cooner, Rosalie, 70, of Dade City, died Friday, May 30 at Gulfside Regional Hospice. She moved to this area in the early 1970’s from her native Oblong, Ill. She has worked for L.G. Edwards Insurance as a bookkeeper for 35 faithful years. Survivors include a daughter, Cassandra Russell of Dade City; two sisters, Maryann Herx of Jefferson City, MO and Beverly Louise Russell of Phoenix, AR; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Alice M. McCloy
Alice M. McCloy, 82, of Zephyrhills passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at her home. She was born August 23, 1925 in Allegheny, PA to Joseph and Blanche Rutkowske. Some of her enjoyments were Bingo, Casinos and puzzles and her #1 enjoyment was WWE wrestling. She was preceded in death by 1 son, Joseph McCloy; 2 daughters, Doris Sue McCloy and Teresa Hill. Survivors include, 1 son, John L. McCloy of Zephyrhills; 5 daughters, Ruby Berarducci of Zephyrhills, Patricia Mason of Zephyrhills, Jean Hammond of Coshocton, Ohio, Kathleen Loomer of Coshocton, Ohio, and Marslean Kuglin of Mentor, Ohio; 24 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren;2 sisters, Josephine Trotto of DelRay Bch, Fl and Lois DeCarlos of Colo Springs, CO. Visitation will be 6-8 Tuesday, June 3rd at Hodges Family Funeral Home 11441 US Hwy 301 Dade City. Funeral Services are 12 noon Friday, June 4th at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens.
Trenard D. Canty
Canty, Trenard D., 18, of Dade City, passed away Monday, May 26, 2008. He was born February 12, 1990 in Zephyrhills to Willie Alphonzo Hills Sr. and Synnica Trenette Canty. He was a senior at Pasco High School and attended the United Church of God in Christ. He is survived by his mother: Synnica Canty, his father: Willie A. Hills Sr., 3 siblings: Tija Hills, Keano Hills, Malia Hills; and a host of grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Funeral services will be held 11am Saturday, May 31, 2008 at the First Baptist Church of Dade City. Interment will follow at Dade City Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8pm Friday evening at the 301 Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home.
Jose H. Rivera
Rivera, Jose H., 72, Land O’Lakes, passed away, Saturday, May 17, 2008. He was born June 15, 1935 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Demetria Rivera; his children: Jose Rivera of Carolina, San Juan, Carmen Rivera of Land ‘O Lakes and Carlos Rivera of Tampa; 5 grandchildren and a great grandson. Private services were held at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell.
Charles C. Cole
Cole , Jr., Charles C., 75, of Brooksville, FL, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2008 in Hudson. He was born January 25, 1933 in Harrisburg, PA and moved to this area 9 years ago from Pinellas County. He was retired from the Construction Industry, attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a Korean War Veteran. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather, and he will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife of 31 years: Linda L. Cole; and his children: Timothy, Daniel, Charles, Andrea Bice, Michelle Rich; stepchildren: Fredrick, Victor and Joseph Churchill, Terri Churchill and Mary Ann Leonard; 21 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Funeral Mass will be held 10am Thursday, May 29, 2008 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. Friends may call from 7-9pm Wednesday evening at the 301 Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home in Dade City.
