Roxie S. Lee
LEE, Roxie S., 96, of Dade City, died Thursday, September 26th, 2002 at home. A native of Suwannee County, Florida, she moved to Dade City in 1947 from Lakeland. She was a Homemaker, Retail Salesperson, Seamstress and Realtor, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lakeland.
Survivors include a son, Michael Thomas Lee of Ashland City, Tennessee; three daughters, Joy Mogyorosy of Dade City, Patricia Mona of Zumbrota, Minnesota and Barbara Alford of Dade City; one brother, Bobby Stansel of Wellborn, Florida; thirteen grandchildren, Brenda Davis, Jim Mona, John Mona, Jerry Mona, Joel Mona, Laurie Grimsrude, Donna Boyd, Karen Peterson, Margy Mulholland, David Alford, Michael Lee, Keith Lee and Tracey Bechtelheimer; twenty one great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
The family will receive friends on Monday evening, September 30th, 2002 from 6-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 1st, 2002 in the Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home with Pastor Bruce Moore officiating.
Flowers will be graciously accepted, but for those who wish, donations may be made to Hernando-Pasco Hospice.
Helen Sungail
Helen Sungail, 86, of Zephyrthills, died Wednesday, September 25th, 2002 at Hernando-Pasco Care Center in Dade City. Arrangements are private.
Doris Elder
ELDER, Doris M., 75, of Dade City, died September 25th, 2002 at home. A native of Port Hope, Canada, she was a long-time resident of this area and was a retired accountant.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda M. Elder of Honolulu, Hawaii.
Funeral Services will be private. .
Dewey Alford
Alford, M. Dewey, 67, of Dade City, FL, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2002 in Lakeland, FL. He was born August 24, 1935 in Dade City, FL, to George & Gladys Alford and was a lifelong area resident. He was a Fruit Procurement Manager for Citrosuco North America Inc., and had previously owned and operated Standard Oil Stations in the Dade City area.
He is survived by his wife: Sandy Alford, Dade City, FL; 2 daughters & son-in- law: Tiffany Alford, Tara A. & Steve Roenicke, Dade City, FL; 1 son: M. Dewey Alford Jr., Dade City, FL; 1 brother: Gene Alford, Dade City, FL; 4 grandchildren: Natalia, Ben, Mallory, and Aaron Alford. He was preceded in death by his son: George Alford.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 am Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002 at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Dade City. Entombment followed at the Chapel Hill Gardens Mausoleum. Friends called Tuesday from 6-8pm at the Hodges Family Funeral Home.
Robert McComas
McComas, Robert R., 71, of Zephyrhills, FL, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002 at his home. He was born August 23, 1931 in Chesapeake, OH, and moved to Zephyrhills 4 years ago from St. Louis, MO. He was a retired Supervisor for Chrysler Corp.
He is survived by daughter & son-in-law: Denise & William Maness, Lakeland, FL; 3 sons & daughter-in-law: Daniel McComas, Zephyrhills, FL, Patrick McComas, St. Louis, MO, Terrance & Lynn McComas, Rockford, IL; brother & sister-in-law: Ronald & Constance McComas, Zephyrhills, FL; sister & brother-in-law: Clarine & Robert LaPerre, Avoca, MI; 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He now joins his wife of 49 years: Delores H. McComas.
A memorial service was held 10am Saturday, Sept. 21, 2002 at the Clubhouse of Forest Lake Estates in Zephyrhills. Interment will take place at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
James A. Wheelus
Wheelus, James, 58, of Inverness, died Sept. 1, 2002 at home. He was a US Marine Veteran of Vietnam and was a self employed handyman.
Survivors include three sons, Curtis of San Diego, and Jim and Rick, both of Key West; two brothers, Robert and Tommy of Oklahoma City; a sister, Jeanie of Texas; and his fiancee, Maccine Yanson of Zephyrhills.
Sara L. Thompson
Thompson, Sara L., 37, of Dade City, FL, passed away Friday, Sept. 6, 2002 at the Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Center in Dade City. She was born December 8, 1964 in Dade City. She worked at Sparton Electronics for 6 years and Lykes Pasco Packing Co. for 8 years.
She is survived by her husband: Bradley Thompson, Dade City, FL; 3 sons: Aaron, Kenneth, and David Thompson, all of Dade City, FL; her mother: Nell Jean Hill, Croom-A-Coochee, FL; her sister: Debra Simonds, Dade City, FL; 3 brothers: Alvin Jr. and James Hill, both of Croom, FL, and Jackie Hill, Mayo, FL; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Graveside services were held 1pm Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002 at the Linden Cemetery with Pastor Charles Hunt officiating. Friends called on Monday from 5-8pm at the Funeral Home.
Helen Blaisdell
Blaisdell, Helen L., 83, of Dade City, FL, passed away Sunday, September 1, 2002 in Dade City. She was born March 8, 1919 in Great Bend, PA, and moved to Dade City 2 years ago from Winter Garden, FL. She was a retired newspaper publisher and had attended the First United Methodist Church in Zephyrhills, FL.
She is survived by 3 sons: David Thomas, Kennett Square, PA, Roger Thomas, Rose, NY, Brian Thomas, Maryland; 1 sister: Beverly Rhinesmith, Dade City, FL; many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Sophie D. Williams
Williams, Sophie D., 91, of Dade City, (formerly of Wauchula) passed away Friday, August 30, 2002 in Zephyrhills, FL. She and her husband owned and operated Johnnie's Steak House in Wauchula. She had attended the New Hope Baptist Church in Wauchula.
She is survived by her loving family.
Graveside services were held 1pm Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002 at the Wauchula Cemetery.
Royce Lyon Larkin
LARKIN, Royce Lyon, 78, of Dade City, died Wednesday, August 28, 2002 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa. A native of Ranger, Texas, she moved to Dade City in 1944. She was a retired Realtor and was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Dade City.
She was predeceased by her husbands, Webb C. Clarke, Jr. and E.B. Larkin. Survivors include two sons, Webb C. Clarke, III of Zephyrhills and Gloyd Clarke of Dade City; a daughter, Camille Reynolds of Dade City; seven grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Funeral Services were private. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to Hernando-Pasco Hospice or the charity of your choice.
