Frieda K. Bennett
BENNETT, Frieda K., 91, of Dade City, died Friday, April 4th, 2003 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Center in Dade City. She moved here in 1999 from her native Ohio. She was a retired secretary and was a member of the Unity Church of Truth in Massillon, Ohio as well as the Trirosis Women's Club of Canton, Ohio and the Garden Club of Canton.
Survivors include a son, Christopher E. Bennett of Jefferson, Georgia; a daughter, Kathy A. Campbell of Bushnell; three brothers, Herman A. Hoeprich of Canton, Ohio, John G. Hoeprich of Tribes Hill, NY and Paul B. Hoeprich of Wilmington, Delaware; five grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to Hernando-Pasco Hospice.

Grady Register
REGISTER, Grady, 79, of Lacoochee, FL, died Wednesday, April 2nd, 2003 at Pasco Regional Medical Center. He had been a resident of this area since 1935, coming from his native Georgia. He was a WWII Army Veteran in the European Theatre and was a retired logger for Boyette Timber. He was Baptist.
Survivors include a daughter: Marilyn "Sue" Register, of Lacoochee; two sons, Duane Register and Grady Herring, both of Lacoochee; three brothers, Buford Register of Zephyrhills, Paul Register of Dade City and Richard Register of Wollaston, Mass.; four sisters, Jewell Hattaway and Ophelia Williams, both of Dade City, Mildred Alsabrook of Avon Park and Gladys Howard of Lakeland; eight grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Madelyn and a brother, James "Red" Register.
Graveside funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 7th , 2003 at Floral Memory Gardens with Rev. Dwight Tadlock officiating.

Lois M. Wiedoff
Wiedoff, Lois M., 81, of Dade City, FL, passed away Monday, March 31, 2003 in Zephyrhills, FL. She was born June 18, 1921 in Milwaukee, WI, and moved to this area 28 years ago from . She worked as a Trust Officer in the Banking Industry.
She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law: Ronald & Fran Wiedoff, Clearwater, FL; her daughter & son-in-law: Sandi & Tom Schultz, Dade City, FL; 4 grandchildren: Jason & Maribelle Wiedoff, Delafield, WI Traci & Conery Wilbanks, Orlando, FL, Brett & Cindy Wiedoff, South Beach, OR, Jim & Allison Schultz, Smyrna, GA; 3 great grandchildren: Amanda & Jeffrey Wiedoff, Delafield, WI, Morgan Schultz, Smyrna, GA. In 1987, she was preceded in death by her husband Wilbur.
A private family service will be held at a later date. At the request of Lois, she asked that friends spend time with their loved ones and celebrate their lives together. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Hernando-Pasco Hospice c/o 12107 Majestic Blvd., Hudson, FL 34667.

Aula Matthew Penix
PENIX, Aula M., 22, of Dade City, died Thursday, March 27th, 2003. A native of New York City, he was a long time resident of Dade City.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Katheren and Billy Southward of Dade City; a sister, Tara Penix; two brothers, Akili Penix and Akida Penix; his grandmother, Essie Mae Penix; his uncles, Clarence Sims, Bobby Lenton, Wayne Penix, Robert Penix, Jr., Jose Comacho, Alvin Penix, Clinton Penix, Mark Penix and Bernard Penix; his aunts, Adele Sims, Delores Penix, Roberta Penix, Cheryl Wormack, Felecia Penix, Marilyn Comacho, Deina Penix, Robin Penix, Geneva Penix, and Janet Penix; his nieces and nephews, Robyn Myers, Robert Meyers, Jr., Alisha Roberts, Jayvaughn Myers and Javionte Penix; three great aunts; two great uncles; 61 cousins; and a host of other relatives. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert L. Penix, Sr.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 5th, 2003 at Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church with Reverend Bryant Fayson officiating. The family received friends at the funeral home from 6- 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 4th, 2003. Burial followed at Dade City Cemetery.

Lewis Robert Phillips Sr.
PHILLIPS, Lewis R. Sr., 74, of Lacoochee, FL, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2003 at his home in Lacoochee. He is survived by 2 sons & daughters-in-law: Lewis & Jackie Phillips Jr., Lacoochee, FL, Bruce & Leasha Davis, Lacoochee, FL; 1 brother: Charlie Phillips, Lacoochee, FL; 5 grandchildren: Austin, Sydney, Robin, Grover, and Sylvia.
He was born November 5, 1928 in Maclenny, FL, and moved to this area 70 years ago from Maclenny. He retired from Lykes Pasco Packing Co. as a Supervisor and was a Veteran.

John D. Swanson
SWANSON, John D., 77, of Dade City, FL, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2003 in Dade City. He is survived by his wife: Marilyn Swanson, Dade City, FL; his daughter: Barbara Johnson, Zeeland, MI; 3 sisters: Arloah Ferguson, Michigan, Rosemary Boutwell, Minnesota, Thelma Booth, Michigan; and 4 grandchildren.
He was born April 13, 1925 in Charlevoix, MI, and was a 20 year winter resident of Dade City, FL. He retired from Harbor Industries Manufacturing Co. in Charlevoix and was a WW II Veteran. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Zephyrhills, FL, and the American Legion in Charlevoix, MI.
Funeral services were held in Charlevoix, MI, with Hodges Family Funeral Home in charge of local arrangements.

Richard W. Frye
FRYE, Richard W., 78, of Dade City, FL, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2003 in Dade City. He is survived by 1 sister: Orma Hagger, Detroit, MI; his nephew: Gary Frye, Dade City, FL; 2 great nieces: Michelle Aguilar & Misty Loftis, both of Dade City, FL.
He was born July 5, 1924 in Logan County, WV, and moved to this area in 1939. He was on the Clean Up Crew at Lykes Pasco Packing Co. in Dade City.
Graveside services were held 11am Friday, March 28, 2003 at the Dade City Cemetery with Rev. Stephen J. Waulding officiating.

Rebecca Hood
HOOD, Rebecca "Becky", 71, of Dade City, FL, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2003 in Dade City. She is survived by 2 sons: Michael Hood and William Hood, both of Dade City, FL; 1 daughter: Carolyn Hood Johnson, Dade City, FL; 1 sister: Velma Reynolds, Rockford, AL; 11 grandchildren: Cindy, Vanessa, Benny, Amanda, Christopher, Charlie, Amy K., John, Marc, Pam, and Steven; 9 great grandchildren: James, Danyale, Justin, Toni, Tevin, Donovan, Mark, Bethany, and Christopher; 1 nephew: Sonny Reynolds; 1 niece: Gail Patterson. She was preceded in death by her husband: James Hood; and 1 grandson: Michael "BooBoo" Hood II.
She was born December 6, 1931 in Rockford, AL, and moved to this area in 1957. She was a Citrus Grader, having worked at the Lykes Pasco Packing Co. for over 25 years, and was a Methodist.
Funeral services were held 12 noon Thursday, March 27, 2003 at Hodges Family Funeral Home with Rev. Randall Belcher officiating. Burial followed at Floral Memory Gardens.

Vera Cobb
COBB, Vera McMullen, 91, of Dade City, died Wednesday, March 19th, 2003 at Pasco Regional Medical Center. A member of the Pioneer McMullen family, she was born in Pinellas County in 1911 to John and Alice McMullen. She moved to Orlando in 1939 after her marriage to Vance Cobb and moved back to Pinellas County in the early 1970's. In 1980, she moved to Dade City and was active in the Literacy Program and was a volunteer for both the Chamber of Commerce and the Dade City Hospital. She was a member of the Seminole United Methodist Church. Her passions were music and the outdoors and she was an avid piano player and gardener.
Survivors include a son, Judge Wayne Cobb of Dade City; a daughter, Jane Gergley of Winter Park, Florida; three brothers, Robert McMullen and Webster McMullen, both of Largo and Carl McMullen of New Port Richey; a sister, Betty Jean Johnson of Largo; six grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Vance Cobb; a son, Gordon Cobb; and a granddaughter, Terri Sue Cobb.
Funeral services were held at Seminole United Methodist Church at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25th, 2003 with Pastor John E. Denmark officiating. The family received friends at the funeral home from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 24th, 2003.

Mary E. "Liz" Suggs
SUGGS, Mary E., "Liz", 70, of Dade City, died Wednesday, March 19th, 2003 at home. A native of Opp, Alabama, she moved to this area in 1969 from Homestead, Florida. She was a waitress at the Crest Restaurant as well as William's Lunch on Limoge. She retired from St. Leo University in 1997 and was Baptist.
Survivors include four daughters, Mary Donna Waldrup of Opp, Alabama, Selina Marie Johnson of Bainbridge Island, Washington, Willie Amanda Hughes of Dade City and Mia Ann Suggs of Dallas, Texas; a son, James Wesley Suggs of Dade City; her mother, Mary Tolson of Opp, Alabama; her siblings, HK Tolson , Dot Ennis and Willie Merle Anderson, all of Opp, and Tommy Tolson of Anchorage, Alaska; twelve grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held in the chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home on Saturday, March 22nd, 2003 at 5:00 PM with Pastor Matkin Ellis officiating. The family received friends at the funeral home from 3-5:00 p.m. on Saturday prior to the service.
