Robert R. Benard
BENARD, Robert R., 82, of Dade City, died Sunday, September 28th, 2003 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Center in Dade City. A veteran of the USsheriff_badge_shiny_md_blk.gif Army during WWII, he served during D-Day at Normandy, in France and Germany and during the Battle of the Bulge in the Ardennes. He returned to his native Manchester, New Hampshire and became a Manchester Police Officer. He retired in 1971 with the rank of Master Sgt. He moved to the Dade City area after retirement and was employed as an Assistant Manager for the Dairy & Produce Division of Little General.
Survivors include his wife, Jean; two daughters, Gloria Taylor of San Jancinto, CA and Elaine Bernier of Manchester, NH; a brother, Armand Bernard of Lutz; two sisters, Rachel Steinmuller of Pompano Beach and Claire Boyce of Manchester; four grandchildren, Renea Smith of Fairbanks, Alaska, Jay Poland of Lake Elsinore, CA, Denise Courtney of Seattle, WA and Thomas Bernard of Manchester; and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1st, 2003 at St. Rita's Catholic Church. Burial followed at Floral Memory Gardens. The family received friends at the funeral home from 8-9:00 p.m. on Sept. 30, 2003.

John George Schildt
Schildt, John George, 61, of Dade City, FL, passed away Saturday, September 27, 2003 at his home surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his wife: Geri Schildt, Dade City, FL; 2 sons & daughters-in-law: Brian & Angel Schildt, Dade City, FL, John & Becky Schildt, Phoenix, AZ; 1 daughter & son-in-law: Kim & Jason Ladd, Dade City, FL; 11 grandchildren: John, Jessie, Jacob, Ashtyn, AJ, Ashlyn, Austin, Blaine, Daniel, Caitlin, and Brian.
He was born June 16, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY, and moved to Dade City 3 years ago from Orlando, FL. He was a retired Service Manager who enjoyed golf and spending time with his grandchildren.
Graveside services were held 11am Tuesday (today) at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell with Pastor Harold Fisher officiating. V.F.W. Post #4283 provided military honors at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in his memory sent to Hernando-Pasco Hospice 7066 Fort King Road, Zephyrhills, FL 33541 or the Make A Wish Foundation of Sarasota/Tampa Bay 5033 W. Laurel Street, Suite 110, Tampa, FL 33607.

Edward Bass
BASS, Edward, 60, of Zephyrhills, formerly of Dover, died Saturday, September 27th, 2003 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice in Dade City. A native of Montgomery, Alabama, he was a long time resident of Dover, moving to this area one year ago and was a drywall subcontractor.
Survivors include two sons, James Edward Bass, Sr. of Turtletown, TN and Timothy Edward Bass of Winder, GA; six siblings, Wheeler Bass of Webster, Kathrine Wetherington of Plant City, Aline Watson of Dover, Lois Gilley of Plant City, Edna Bass of Brandon and Betty Creel of Zephyrhills; and five grandchildren, Tony Bass of Turtletown, Rebecca Bass of Locust Grove, GA, James Edward Bass, III and Jimmy Allen Bass, both of Turtletown, and James Edward Bass, Jr., of Easley, SC.
Funeral services were held in the chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 1st, 2003. The family received friends from 5-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 30, 2003. Burial was at Springhead Cemetery in Plant City.

Richard P. Pericak
Pericak, Richard P., 72, of Tampa Bay Golf & Country Club in San Antonio, FL, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2003 in Dade City, FL.
He is survived by his wife: Kay Pericak, San Antonio, FL; his daughter & son-in-law: Becky & Rick Standley, Erie, PA; his son & daughter-in-law: Patrick & Wynn Pericak, Boulder, CO; 1 sister: Irene Weber, Buffalo, NY; 3 brothers: Stephen Pericak, Alfred Pericak, and James Pericak, all of Springville, NY; 4 grandchildren: A.J. Zuber, Thomas Pericak, Zoe Pericak, and William Pericak.
He was born March 17, 1931 in Woodlawn, NY, and moved to San Antonio 7 years ago from Fort Myers, FL. He retired from the Retail Ice Cream business and was a member of St. Anthony of Padua and the Zephyrhills Elks Lodge. A Memorial Mass will be held 11am Friday (tomorrow) at St. Anthony of Padua in San Antonio. Inurnment will take place at Florida National Cemetery at a later date.

Patricia J. Schoch
SCHOCH, Patricia J. "Pat", 62, of Dade City, FL, passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2003 at her home. She was born December 10, 1940 in Buffalo, NY. She was an Executive Secretary for Xerox in Webster, NY.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years: Donald Schoch, Dade City, FL; 1 daughter: Suzanne Marie Schoch-Kithredge, Tolland, CN; 1 son: Donald Schoch, Jr., Cary, IL.

Jerome Janke
Jerome Janke, 69, of Dade City, died Thursday, September 11th, 2003 at Pasco Regional Medical Center. He was born October 28, 1933 in Athens, WI, and moved to Dade City 29 years ago from Wisconsin. He owned and operated Janke Construction Co.. He was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the V.F. W.. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in Germany.
He was a loving husband, best friend, and partner to his surviving wife of 42 years: Carol "Gottschalk" Janke, Dade City; his mother: Mary Janke Johnas, Necedah, WI; 4 sisters & brothers-in-law: Luella & Andrew Schriener, Athens, WI, Marilyn & Delmar Becker, Wausau WI, Therese & Ray Thuot, Wausau, WI, Joan & Joe Braun, Milan, WI; 1 brother & sister-in-law: Russell & Charlene Janke, Athens, WI; his mother-in-law: Lucille E. Gottschalk, Edgar, WI; 3 sisters-in-law: Claudine Janke, Athens, WI, Patricia Ann & Robert Schmirler, Dade City, Gail & Richard Sjoquist, Burnsville, MN; and many dear nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father: Herb Janke, and his brother: James Janke.
Funeral services were held 1pm Saturday, September 13, 2003 at St. Rita Catholic Church. Friends called 11:30 - 12:30 pm Saturday at Hodges Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations sent to Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute, Thoracic Research Unit, 12902 Magnolia Drive, Tampa, FL 33612, or Hernando-Pasco Hospice, 7066 Ft. King Rd., Zephyrhills, FL 33541.

Harry Fred Martin
MARTIN, Harry F., 91, of Zephyrhills, died Monday, September 8th, 2003 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Center. He was born in Bradford, VT, the son of Henry and Effie (Hadlock) Martin. Following graduation from Bradford Academy in 1930, he worked on area farms. He operated his own farm in in Bradford and was also a self employed carpenter. He had a reputation as a hard working man, a neighbor who was ready to help those in need. He loved sports, especially baseball, both as a player and spectator. He also enjoyed cribbage, dancing, berry-picking and gardening. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Independent Order of Odd Fellow, Champion Lodge #17, Rebecca Assembly of Vermont and was a member and officer of the Zephyrhills Grange.
Survivors include his wife, Sally; his children, Charlotte L. Welch, Carolyn M. Coffin and Gene H. Martin, all of Bradford, Larry C. Martin of Fairlee, VT and Kathleen M. Oakes of Piermont, NH; five step children; 15 grandchildren; 14 step-grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; seven step-great grandchildren; and one step great great grandchild.

Randy Scott Groover
GROOVER, Randy Scott, 36, of Dade City, died Saturday, September 6th, 2003. A life long resident of Dade City, he worked in the landscaping industry, was a journeyman electrician, and was Baptist.
Survivors include two sons, Randy Scott Groover, Jr. and Jacob Ryan Groover, both of Dade City; his parents, Bobby and Alla Groover of Dade City; two brothers, Tim Groover of Holland, MI and Gary Groover of Woodstock, GA; four sisters, Patti Griffin of Bald Knob, Ark., Wanda Hanson of Woodstock, GA, Janet Craig of Zephyrhills, and Annette Groover of Brooksville; and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held in the chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home on Thursday, September 11th, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Ruby Strickland officiating. Burial followed at Chapel Hill Gardens. The family received friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on September 10th, 2003 at the funeral home.

Robert James Mullen
MULLEN, Robert J., 76, of Ridge Manor, died Thursday, September 4th, 2003 at Pasco Regional Medical Center. A native of Auburn, NY, he moved to this area in 1985. A retired Tractor Trailer Driver, he was a member of All Faiths United Church of Christ in Ridge Manor.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce; a son, Terry Robert Mullen and his wife, Dianne of Auburn, NY; a daughter Linda Swarthout and her husband, Jim of Ridge Manor; two sisters, Jane Nash and Florence Tucker and her husband, Roscoe, both of Auburn; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.
