EVENSON, Bessie M., 81, of Dade City, died Friday, December 12, 2003 at Pasco Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include a daughter Patricia Evenson of Dade City; three grandchildren, Edwin Pitts, II, Tara Miller and Michael Moncrieff; and five great grandchildren, Katrina J. Pitts, Jeramiah Pitts, Anthony Pitts, Troy Miller and Tyler Miller.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2003 at the Dade City Christian Church on Clinton Avenue.
Dalton Morgan
MORGAN. Dalton L., 70, of Dade City, died Friday, December 12, 2003 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Center in Dade City. A native of Harrisburg, Arkansas, he moved to this area in 1983 from Michigan. He was a retired business owner and was Protestant. He was a loving husband and father and will be dearly missed by all.
Survivors include his wife, Sue; nine children, Pam Wood of Eauclair, MI, Patty Johnson of Hartford, MI, Dennis Morgan of Eauclair, Daniel Morgan of Largo, FL, Carla Galbraith of Benton Harbor, MI, Tina Saunders of Coloma, MI, Richard Young of Dade City; and Colleen Carrington and Rickie Sue Jaske, both of Benton Harbor; a sister, Naomi Morgan of Largo; two brothers, Wayne Morgan of Hasting, MI and George Morgan of Independence, Missouri; 27 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Norma Helen Hill and Margaret McDaniel.
Funeral services will be held in Benton Harbor.
Mary Smith
Smith, Mary E., 96, of Dade City, died Thursday, December 11, 2003 at Royal Oak Nursing Center. A native of Columbia, South Carolina, she moved to this area in 1999 from Lakeland. She was a retired business owner having obtained the first liquor license issued to a female in the Sate of South Carolina. She was a member of the Northside Baptist Church in Orangeburg, SC.
Survivors include two sons, Russell Smith of Jacksonville, FL and Carl Smith of Orangeburg; two granddaughters, Susan Gartman of Orangeburg and Teresa Perkins of Dade City; and numerous other grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held in Orangeburg. A memorial service will be held in the First United Methodist Church in Dade City at a later date.
Howard Maier
Maier, Howard, 46, of Dade City, died Wednesday, December 10, 2003 at Pasco Regional Medical Center. A native of St. Petersburg, he was a staff member at Lighthouse Ministries. He is survived by a sister, Joyce Kelly of California; and many loving friends. A memorial service will he be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2003 at the Dade City Church of God, 14525 21st Street in Dade City.
Bonnie J. Christian
Christian, Bonnie J., 59, of Dade City, FL, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003 under the care of LifePath Hospice in Sun City Center. She was born January 10, 1944 in Newark, NY, and was a resident of the Dade City area for many years. She worked for the Lykes Brothers Corporation for 20 years.
She is survived by her husband: William Christian, Dade City, FL; 2 daughters: Tammy Christian Clayton, Lakeland, FL, Patricia Christian Stalvey, Nashville, GA; 1 sister: Pauline Tarana, Savannah, GA; 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter: Theresa Gail Nathe, who passed away November 16, 1984.
Memorial services was held 2pm Saturday, December 13, 2003 at Hodges Family Funeral Home with Rev. Randall Belcher officiating. Flowers will be gratefully accepted, but those that wish may make donations in her memory to LifePath Hospice, 3010 West Azeele Street, Tampa, Florida 33609.
Michelle Pauline Bingham
BINGHAM, Michelle, 33, of Dade City, died Thursday, December 4, 2003 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa. She moved to this area in 1974 from her native Pontiac, Michigan. She was employed in the food services industry and was Baptist.
Survivors include a son, Anthony Wayne Bingham of Lake Wales; her mother and step-father, Jody and James Anthony Harp of Lake Wales; her father and step-mother, James F. and Elizabeth D. Bingham of Valdosta, GA; two sisters, Candice Marie Welch and Kimberly Ann Hay, both of Dade City; one step-brother: Michael James Bingham; Valdosta, GA; two nephews and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 11, 2003 in the chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home.
Marzetta Earl Chavers
CHAVERS, Marzetta Earl, 61, of Dade City, FL, went to be with the Lord, Friday, December 5, 2003 at the Hernando-Pasco Hospice House in Dade City.
He is survived by his wife: Joyce A. Chavers, Dade City, FL; his mother: Henrietta M. Chavers, Dade City, FL; 1 brother: Marlon Gene & Dolores Chavers, Castleberry, AL; 2 sisters: Katrina Lewis and Edna & Ernie O'Steen, all of Dade City, FL; 6 step-children, 8 nieces and nephews, 19 great nieces and nephews, and many aunts, cousins, and 1 uncle. He was born November 12, 1942 in Covington County, AL, to Earl Cortez Chavers and Henrietta Matthews Chavers.
He moved to Dade City 43 years ago from Winter Gardens, FL. He worked for Lykes Pasco Packing Co. for 32 years and was an active member of the Christian Fellowship Church.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Tuesday (tomorrow) at the Christian Fellowship Church with Pastor Tim Ratterree officiating. Burial will follow at Dade City Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 5-8 p.m. at Hodges Family Funeral Home. Samuel White
WHITE, Samuel, 75, of Tampa, FL, passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2003 at the Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Center in Dade City. He was born March 16, 1928 in Eufaula, AL to Colonel White and Marybelle Petty White. He was a factory worker for Portland Cement.
He is survived by his loving family. Funeral services will take place in Eufaula, AL.
Howard William Grup
GRUP, Howard W., 85, of Zephyrhills, died Friday, November 28th, 2003 at University Community Hospital. He moved here in 1984 from his native New York. He was a retired Electronic Specailist for General Electric and was a US Army Veteran of WWII, serving in the European Theatre. He served on many town boards in Duanesburg, NY and was an Elder and Choir Director for The Reformed Presbyterian Church in Duanesburg. Locally, he was a member, and Elder, of the Tampa Bay Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Papesh of Monticello, MN and Peggy Schindler of Delanson, NY; a brother, William R. Grup of Hartwick, NY; a sister, Doris Klusner of Greenvalley, AZ; and two grandchildren, Ryan C. Smith of Minneapolis, MN and Loreal M. Schindler of Delanson.
Funeral services were held in the chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 2, 2003 at 12 Noon with Rev. Freddy Fritz officiating. Burial followed at Florida National Cemetery. The family received friends from 5-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Monday evening, December 1, 2003.
Lloyd K. Bently
BENTLEY Jr., Lloyd Kenneth, 78, of Zephyrhills, FL, passed away Monday, November 24, 2003 in Zephyrhills. He was born September 22, 1925 in Jamestown, New York and was the retired owner of Randolph Motors in Randolph, New York. He was a US Naval veteran.
He is survived by his wife Mildred; two sons, Ryan Bentley of Jamestown, NY and Dennis Bentley of Randolph, NY; a sister, Lois McIntyre of Portland, NY; and two grandchildren, Todd Bentley and Hannah Bentley , both of Jamestown.
Interment will take place at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 10th, 2003 with the Dade City VFW officiating.
