PRESCOTT, Wilbur, 78, of Bushnell, died Saturday, January 24, 2004 at home. A native of Orlando, he has been a life long resident of Florida. He was a Veteran of WWII serving in the US Navy in the Pacific Theatre and was a retired plasterer.
Survivors include his wife, Jean; two sons, Sam of Massachusetts and Donny of Tallahassee; a daughter, Diane of St. Petersburg; a stepson, Phillip Ewald Of Homosassa, FL; and seven grandchildren. Graveside funeral services were held at Florida National Cemetery on Wednesday, February 4, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. with the Dade City VFW officiating.
Anthony Pastore
PASTORE, Anthony, 72, of Zephyrhills, died Friday, January 23, 2004 at home. Arrangements are private.
Fossie Hudson
HUDSON, Fossie, 96, of Dade City, a member of the pioneer Hudson family, died Tuesday, January 20, 2004 at Royal Oak Nursing Care Center in Dade City. A native of Vienna, Illinois, she moved to Dade City in 1927 from Illmo, Missouri and was a retired florist, having been co-owner of Wyman's Florist in Dade City. She was a founding member of the Dade City Garden Club and was a member of the Dade City Women's Club.
Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Hudson and his wife, Ellen of Dade City and Wyman Hudson of Dade City; seven grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, and former Dade City Chief of Police, Leon Hudson and by a daughter, Dorothy Jane McCabe.
Funeral services were held in the chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m on Friday, January 23, 2004 with Pastor Al Ruggles officiating. The family received friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial followed at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Pete Brock, Clyde Hobby, Lewis Abraham, Bill Branas, Fred Norman and Larry Beddingfield.
Edward "Mac" McNally
MCNALLY, Edward "Mac", 75, of Dade City, a man of honor, left this earth on Sunday, January 18, 2004. He was a man of truth and his handshake was his bond. He was born in Lansing, Michigan on January 8, 1929 but considered himself a true Floridian. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He worked for Tampa Electric Co. for forty five years. His accomplishments were many. He was Chairman of the Board of Pasco Regional Hospital, Past President of the Dade City Rotary Club and was honored by them as a Paul Harris Fellow. He was on the Board of Directors of First Union Bank and the Southwest Florida Blood Bank. As a long time member of the Greater Dade City Chamber of Commerce and a Past President, he was honored with the Richard Tombrink Man of the Year Award in 1995. He was also a Past President of Downtown Dade City Mainstreet and on the Board of Pasco Hernando Community College. He was for many years involved with the United Way. He loved his town and his town loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Maggie; his daughter, Michele Sutton and husband Brent; two granddaughters, Maggie Ann and Katie Sutton; a brother, Jerry from Edmond, Oklahoma; and a sister, Sue from Orlando, FL.
The family received friends at the funeral home from 5-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2004. Funeral services were held at the First United Methodist Church in Dade City at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2004 with Dr. Jim Renault officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Clyde Carter Allen
Allen, Clyde, 87, of Zephyrhills, died Friday, January 16, 2004 at home. A native of Pittsburgh, PA, he moved to this area in 1988 from Pine Island, Florida. He was a retired carpenter and was a member of St. Elizabeth Episcopal Church in Zephyrhills. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps in the Pacific Theatre in WWII serving in both Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima.
Survivors include a son, Ron Allen of Titusville; a sister, Virginia Tedford of Ft. Myers; three grandchildren, Mark Allen of Monroe Falls, Ohio, David Allen of Orlando and Aaron Allen of Pensacola; and a great grandchild, Stevi Allen of Pensacola.
Memorial services were held at St. Elizabeth Episcopal Church in Zephyrhills.
Mildred Rape
Rape, Mildred, 89, of Wesley Chapel, died Friday, January 16, 2004 at home. A native of Griffin, Georgia, she moved to this area in 1942. She was a homemaker and was Pentecostal.
Survivors include two sons, Marshall L. Salter of Zephyrhills and Warren E. Rape of Brooksville; three daughters, Martha A. Cruse of Gibsonton, Myra N. Lambert of Dover and Shirley L. Voy of Wesley Chapel; 21 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and nieces Nellie Brumalow and Carolyn Wilson, both of Winder, GA as well as numerous other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, James Rape and two children, Sandra Joyce Rape and Harvard Marcus Rape.
Memorial services were held 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 25, 2004 at her daughter's home at 7411 Pop Drive in Wesley Chapel.
Irene H. Bell
Bell, Irene H., 92, of Zephyrhills, FL, entered into the Lord's presence Thursday, January 15, 2004, welcomed by her husband and children who preceded her in death. She was born May 28, 1911 in Jennings, FL, to Daniel W. & Clara Cunningham Herring. She was a Nurse at St. Joseph Hospital in Tampa for many years and attended the Charity Baptist Church in Zephyrhills.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years: Glenn T. Bell; 1 daughter: Juanette Holt; and 2 sons: Glenn T. Bell Jr. and Ralph M. Bell. She is survived by 1 son & daughter-in-law: Robert B. & Norma Bell, Brandon, FL; 1 daughter-in-law: Sandra Bell, Zephyrhills, FL; 3 brothers: Kenneth Herring, Palatka, FL, Russell Herring, Plant City, FL, Marvin Herring, Brandon, FL; 1 sister: Allene Cameron, Plant City, FL; 17 grandchildren including Warren Holt and Marty Thomas who served as her guardians and caretakers; 18 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held 11am, Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004 at Hodges Family Funeral Home & Cremation Center at 5221 8th Street, Zephyrhills, FL. Friends called one hour prior to service time, from 10-11am on Tuesday.
Helen Vaughan
VAUGHAN, Helen Dorothy Slaveoff, 84, of Dade City, FL, formerly of Tampa, FL, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2004 at the Pasco Regional Medical Center in Dade City. She was born September 26, 1919 in Pittsburgh, PA, to Stephen G. & Anna Horvat. She was a Homemaker.
She is survived by her daughter: Annette M. Zamboni, Riverview, FL; her son: Paul Joseph Koval, North Carolina; 1 brother: Steve Horvat, North Carolina; 1 sister: Margaret DeCarlo, Dade City, FL; 2 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Lola Hamilton
Hamilton, Lola, 79, formerly of Zephyrhills, died January 14, 2004 in Ocala. Born in Melvin, Kentucky, she also lived in Ohio, Virginia, and Arizona. She was a mail carrier during World War II, then a homemaker.
She is survived by her children: Patsy Stoneburner of Ocala, Barbara Brubaker of Albuquerque, Jim Hamilton of Sun Valley, Arizona, and Geraldine Robinson of Orrville, Ohio; seven grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral and burial to be held in Mesa, Arizona.
Mary McCarthy Barthle
BARTHLE, Mary McCarthy, 82, of Lake Iola, died Monday, January 12, 2004 at Pasco Regional Medical Center. A life-long resident of Lake Iola, she was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in St. Joe.
Survivors include a daughter, Yvonne Bradley and her husband, LeRoy of Lakeland; a granddaughter, Amanda Bradley of Lakeland; two sisters, Agnes Croft and Frances Capparelli, both of Lake Iola; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Robert Barthle and by two brothers, John and Joseph McCarthy.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Thursday, January 15, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Pat Rebel as celebrant. The family received friends at the church from 5-7:00 p.m. Wednesday with a wake service at 6:00 p.m. and a rosary at 6:30. Burial was at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends were invited back to Sacred Heart Church Hall following the Mass.
Flowers will be graciously accepted, or donations in her name may be made to the Sacred Heart Child Care Center.
