BARTHLE, Jerome J., 68, of St. Joseph, died Friday, February 4, 2005 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Center in Dade City. A native of St. Joseph, he was a veteran of the US Army serving in Hawaii. He was employed in the citrus/agricultural industry and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was the caretaker for Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery in St. Joe for many years. An avid Bucs fan, he loved the outdoors, especially hunting.
Survivors include two brothers, Benedict Barthle of St. Joe, Andrew Barthle and his wife, Pat of St. Joe; two sisters, Antoinette Lagere and her husband, Robert of Fayetteville, Georgia and Elizabeth Guertin and her husband, Thomas of Franklin, North Carolina; and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, February 6, 2005 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 7, 2005 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Patrick Rebel as celebrant. Burial followed at Sacred Heart Cemetery in St. Joseph.

Estela Mendoza-Linares
MENDOZA-LINARES, Estela, 50, of Zephyrhills, FL, passed away Wednesday, March 16 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 5, 1955 in New York, NY, to Elmo Mendoza and Margarita Rivera. She moved to this area just a few weeks ago from Highland County.
She is survived by her mother: Margarita Rivera Mendoza, Zephyrhills, FL; her daughter: Malinda Linares, Lake Placid, FL; her son: David Castro, Zephyrhills, FL; her sister: Janet Rodriquez, New York, NY; and 9 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 4pm Saturday, March 19, 2005 at Hodges Family Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Zephyrhills. Flowers will be gratefully accepted, or those that wish may make donations in her name to Hernando-Pasco Hospice 7066 Fort King Road, Zephyrhills, FL 33541.
Bertie Mae Moore
MOORE, Bertie Mae, 95, of Dade City, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2005 at the Heritage Park Specialty Care Center.. She was born November 3, 1909 in Hawkinsville, GA, to Martha Jane and Henry W. Sheppard. A loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she moved to this area in 1972 from Plant City. She was a sectionizer and a Baptist.
She is survived by 4 sons: James E. & Mary Moore, Dade City, FL, William D. & Jean Moore, Dade City, FL, Richard M. & Paula Moore, Huntley, IL, Phillip A. & Debbie Moore, Meansville, GA; 2 daughters: Frances & Robert DesRosier, Dade City, FL, Linda & Jerry Simonds, Trilby, FL; 1 son-in-law: James Brewster, Corpus Christi, TX; 14 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 9 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband: James H. "Red" Moore; 1 son: Kenneth Moore; and 1 daughter: Betty Brewster.
Funeral services will be held 10am Monday, March 21, 2005 at Hodges Family Funeral Home in Dade City with Rev. Randall Belcher officiating. Burial will follow at Dade City Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4pm Sunday at the funeral home.
James Franklin Broome
Broome, James Franklin, 72, of Lakeland, FL, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2005 in Dade City under the care of Hernando-Pasco Hospice. He was born November 21, 1931 in Llano, TX. He moved to Lakeland 30 years ago from Texas. He was a truck driver.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years: Margaret Woodrum Broome; 5 children, 5 step-children, 27 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ora Lee Williams
WILLIAMS, Ora Lee, 72, of Dade City, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2005, at Royal Oak Nursing Home. She was born June 19, 1932 in Dawson, GA, to Chester Blank and Jessie Scott. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Zion AME Church. She moved to Dade City 2 1/2 years ago from Fort Lauderdale, FL.
She is survived by 3 daughters: Janie Williams, Baltimore, MD, Cora Brown, Fort Lauderdale, FL, Shirley Harrell, Fort Lauderdale, FL; 4 sons: John H. Smith, Largo, FL, George E. Smith, Baltimore, MD, Eugene N. Smith, Dade City, FL, Johnny Harrell, Fort Lauderdale, FL; 4 sisters, 2 brothers, 12 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11:00am Saturday, March 19, 2005 at Mt. Zion AME Church. Friends may call from 6-8pm Thursday (today) at Hodges Family Funeral Home in Dade City. Burial will follow at Dade City Cemetery.
Bernard Leo Cotter
COTTER, Bernard L, 54, of Dade City, died Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at home. A native of St. Paul, Minnesota, he moved to Florida in 1959 and to Dade City from Ocala in 1964. He was employed as the Public Works Manager for the Federated States of Micronesia until 2003.
Survivors include his wife, Ramona; five children, Patrick of Paris Island, South Carolina, Jody, Dionne, Masae, and Bradley, all of Dade City; his parents, Irene and Leo Cotter of Dade City; his siblings, Terry Cotter of Jacksonville, Thomas Cotter and Kenny Cotter, both of Dade City, Michael Cotter of Lakeland, Paul Cotter and Theresa Fiore, both of Jacksonville, and Mary Jo Gude and Cathy Henry, both of Dade City; and seven grandchildren.
The family received friends from 6-8:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Thursday, March 17, 2005. A wake service was held at 6:00 p.m. with a Rosary following. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 18, 2005 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Patrick Rebel as celebrant. Burial followed at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
LosAngeles Brooks
Brooks, LosAngeles, 84, of Bluefield, WV, passed away March 14, 2005 in Dade City, FL, under the care of Gulfside Regional Hospice. She was born May 28, 1920 in Bluefield, VA, to George McKinley Carroll and Rachael Francis Mayberry. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse and was a winter resident in Zephyrhills for many years.
She is survived by 1 son: Thomas Jessie Bowles Jr., Alexandria, VA; 2 daughters: Judith Elaine Mandakunis, Zephyrhills, FL, Carolyn Elizabeth Sellers, Lillington, NC; 1 sister: Annie Marie Patteson, Bluefield, WV; 1 step-sister: Barbara Hurst, Troutsville, VA; 1 step-brother: Larry William Carroll, Bluefield, WV; 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held in Princeton, WV.
Rena Jo Blankenship
BLANKENSHIP, Rena Jo, 44, of Dade City, died Thursday, March 10, 2005 at Pasco Regional Medical Center. She moved to this area in 1965 from her native Arkansas. A strong willed person, she overcame many obstacles. She loved being a mother and grandmother and will be truly missed by those who knew her.
Survivors include a daughter, Jennifer Melvin and her husband, Timothy of Ridge Manor; her mother, Jean Stewart of Dade City; a sister, Karen Fadling of Darby; two brothers, Carl Mears of Ft. Myers and Greg Stewart of Dade City; three grandchildren, Destiny Melvin, Taylor Melvin and Skyler Melvin, all of Ridge Manor; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
The family received friends from 5-7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 14, 2005 at the funeral home. Graveside funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at Chapel Hill Gardens.
Edward Leon Brinson
Brinson, Edward Leon, 77, of Zephyrhills, FL, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2005 at East Pasco Medical Center in Zephyrhills. He was born June 6, 1927 in Fountain County, IN, to Edward Brinson and Goldie Green Brinson. He was a U.S. Army Veteran; serving as an M.P. in Germany during WW II, and then serving in the tank division during the Korean Conflict. He retired from TRW (formerly the Ross Gear Co.) in Lafayette, IN in 1986, and was a member of the D.A.V.. He moved to Zephyrhills 18 years ago from Lafayette.
He is survived by his wife: Esther Kay Brinson; 5 children: Robert, Patricia, Cheryl, Christina, Edward; 1 sister: Regina Perkins; 1 brother: Lewis Sexton; several grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held 10am, Monday, March 14, 2005 at Hodges Family Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Pastor Rick Stewart officiating.
