John W. Sloan
Sloan, John W., 50, of Zephyrhills, passed away April 28, 2005 at home. John was born October 10, 1954 in Clendenin, West Virginia. A son of the late Alford and Lucille Sloan. At age 10, they moved to Passaic, New Jersey where he was raised and attended school. he worked as a printer in New Jersey. After retiring, he moved to Florida to be near his sister and brother-in-law, Karroll and Roscoe Dunlap, nieces Tammie and Tanya Dunlap and grand nephew, Allen Dunlap all of Zephyrhills, FL.
He is also survived by his bother and sister-in-law, Jim and Drema Sloan of St. Albuns, West Virginia. Brother Rodger Sloan of Passaic, New Jersey. One son Adam Sloan, several nieces, nephews grand nephews, and grand nieces. He was preceded in death by brother Mike Sloan. John will most be remembered by his strong family commitment, unconditional love, and his competitive nature as an avid golfer and tournament pool player. Brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend, in your passing, we hold nothing dear but fond memories of the times spent together. Your contagious laughter and memories, we will always cherish. And with every smile, we will again be with you.
Private services were held at the convenience of the family.

Richard B. Herring
Herring, Richard B., 93 , of Dade City, died Sunday, May 1st at Pasco Regional Medical Center. A native of North Carolina, he served in the Civilian Conservation Corps during the early 30's and moved to Dade City in 1942 where he worked at Lykes Pasco Packing for 37 years. He loved to work with his hands and build things, training animals, and singing in the choir at the First Baptist Church of Dade City.
He is survived by his wife of almost 71 years: Maggie Marie Herring, Dade City, FL; 2 sons: Richard Stewart Herring and his wife Joanne of Williston, FL, Stephen Bradley Herring, and his wife Vickie of Dade City, FL; 2 daughters: Patricia Elizabeth Gregorie and her husband Dale of Tarpon Springs, FL, Lisa Laurette Herring, Dade City, FL; 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter: Carmen Jean Herring Parker.
The family will receive friends at Hodges Family Funeral Home on 5th Street in Dade City from 6-8pm Wednesday, May 4, 2005. The funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, May 5, 2005 at the First Baptist Church of Dade City at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Floral Memory Gardens in Dade City.

Virginia Parks Thomas Orender
ORENDER, Virginia Parks Thomas, 82, of Dade City, died Saturday, April 30, 2005 at Pasco Regional Medical Center. A native of Lakeland, she moved to Dade City in 1942 and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Tampa Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Ermie C. Thomas and his wife, Laurie K. of Dade City and Richard R. Thomas and his wife, Frances of Dade City; a brother, R.W. Parks of Homosassa; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, F. J. Thomas and a son, Frank Thomas.
The family received friends in the 5th Street Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home on Monday, May 2, 2005 from 5 until 7:00 p.m. Graveside services were held Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Dade City Cemetery.

Kenneth Mark Higginson
HIGGINSON, Kenneth Mark, 92, of Zephyrhills, died Friday, April 29, 2005 at home. A native of Warren, Ohio, he moved to this area as a young child. During WWII he served as superintendent at a shipyard in Mobile, Alabama. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and loved to home teach.
He is survived by two sons, Joseph Higginson of Dade City and Kenneth Higginson of Cocoa, Florida; two daughters, Barbara Taylor of Vero Beach and Laura Jung of Killeen, Texas; a brother, Walter Higginson of Crystal Springs; two sisters, Ruth Eikeland and Dorothy Frazer both of Tampa; ten grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. with Bishop Greathouse officiating. The family received friends thirty minutes prior to the service at the church. Burial followed at Oakside Cemetery in Zephyrhills. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to the Fast offering at the Church or to your favorite charity

Debora Lynn Reis
REIS, Debora Lynn, 47, of West Bend, died Thursday, April 28th, 2004 in Zephyrhills, Florida. A native of West Bend, she was a winter visitor in Florida and had been previously employed at a nursing home in West Bend.
Survivors include her parents, Charles and Ethel Reiss of West Bend; two sisters, Sharon Olsen of West Bend and Pamela Jonas of Oshkosh; and one nephew, Bradley Jonas and two nieces, Courtney Jonas and Elizabeth Jonas, all of Oshkosh.
Funeral services will be held at a later date at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Slinger, Wisconsin.

Terri Watson
WATSON, Terri, 33, of Dade City, passed away Friday, April 29, 2005 at the Pasco Regional Medical Center in Dade City. She was born October 21, 1971 in Zephyrhills, FL, and lived most of her life in the Dade City area.
She is survived by her son: Bobby Joe Evans, Dade City, FL; her daughter: Amanda Rachel Hood, Tampa, FL; her parents: Barbara J. & Joseph L. Evans, Dade City, FL; her father: Robert Sneed, Sebring, FL; her husband: William Hood, Dade City, FL; 1 brother: Freddie Mac Watson, Trenton, FL; 1 sister: Christine Watson, Mount Vernon, FL; and many other close family and friends.
Funeral services were held 11am Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at the Garden Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home (formerly Oakley Funeral Home) in Dade City. Burial followed at Floral Memory Gardens. Friends called from 5-7pm Monday evening at the funeral home. Flowers will be gratefully accepted or those that wish may make donations in Terri's name to a charity of your choice.

Erline W. Stewart Hurlocker
HURLOCKER, Erline W. Stewart, 77, of Zephyrhills, FL, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at East Pasco Medical Center in Zephyrhills. She was born October 20, 1927 in Red Level, AL, to William Franklin Whiddon and Mary Elizabeth Kelly Whiddon. She worked at the Pasco Packing Co. in Dade City for 25 years, retiring in 1989. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, and the AmVet Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by 4 daughters: Ann & Hayward Musgrove, Trilby, FL, Elaine & Dick Wilson, Trilby, FL, Frances Black Burnett, Zephyrhills, FL, Judy Luebke, Raleigh, NC; 1 son: Bobby Stewart, Dade City, FL; 3 brothers: Charles H. & Joyce Whiddon, Zephyrhills, FL, Murlyn Ray & Ruby Whiddon, Thonotosassa, FL, Ronald & Geanean Whiddon, Zephyrhills, FL; 12 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband: Robert Stewart; her second husband: Robert Hurlocker; 1 daughter: Joyce Gillard; and 3 brothers: Harold Whiddon, Garland Whiddon, and Lavaughn Whiddon.
Funeral services were held 2pm Saturday, April 30, 2005 at Hodges Family Funeral Home in Dade City. Burial followed at Chapel Hill Gardens. Friends called 2 hours prior to service time, from 12-2pm. The family would like to send a special thanks to Dr. Joseph Hubaykah and the medical staff at East Pasco Medical Center.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in her name to the American Cancer Society 8159 State Road 52, Hudson, FL 34667.

George W. Traenkner
TRAENKNER, George W., 56, of Dade City, passed away at home on Tuesday, April 26, 2005 after a brave battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born in New Kensington, PA on March 17, 1949 and moved to Tampa in 1985, and then made his home in Dade City in 2002. His parents were the late George W. H. and AnnaMae Preisendefer Traenkner. George was an accomplished woodworker and furniture maker, as well as a skilled artisan in stained glass. He worked in the industrial compressor industry for 30 years and established Pasco Compressor Service in 2004.
George is survived by his best friend and beloved wife of 35 years, Karen; and three sons, who are his pride and joy, Andy and Jeffrey of Tampa and Chuck of Orlando. He also leaves his sister, Diane Mansfield of San Antonio, FL, several nieces and nephews; and extended family Bill and Melanie Scaife, Billy, Jessica and R. J.; special family friends Sarah Richter and Becky Van Schoick and Kay and Rich Allen and the gang at RMT Consultants.
The family received friends at the funeral home from both 2-4:00 p.m. and 6-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2005. Funeral services were held in the chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 29, 2005. Burial followed at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank Hospice for their support and help. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in George's memory to Hernando-Pasco Hospice, 12107 Majestic Blvd., Hudson, FL 34667, (800) 486-8790, www.hphospice.org. The family also thanks Dr. Scott Kelley and the surgical team at Moffitt Cancer Center for all their efforts.

Charles McBride
McBRIDE, Charles, of Land O'Lakes, FL, passed away Friday, April 22, 2005 under the care of Hernando-Pasco Hospice in Dade City. Arrangements are pending.

Blanche Mae Styles
STYLES, Blanche Mae, 92, of Tampa Bay Golf & Tennis Club in San Antonio, FL, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at University Community Hospital Fletcher in Tampa. She was born January 28, 1913 in Springfield, IL, to William Dennis Murphy and Martha Mabel Clark Murphy. She moved to this area 3 years ago from Orlando where she had lived for many years. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in San Antonio.
She is survived by her daughter: Mary Michael Inmann, Harrison Township, MI; 1 grandson: Timothy Styles MD, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI; 1 granddaughter: Holly Robertson, Eastpointe, MI; and 2 brothers: Pat Murphy, California, Joe Murphy, Royal Oak, MI.
Funeral services were held 11am Monday, April 25, 2005 at St. Anthony of Padua in San Antonio with Father Henry Riffle as celebrant. Friends called Sunday, from 5-8pm at Hodges Family Funeral Home in Dade City. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in her memory to the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
