Mary Helen Farley died Tuesday, March 13th, 2001 at University Community Hospital in Tampa. A native of Buffalo, NY, she moved to Zephyrhills in 1971 from Lima, NY. She was a home maker and was Presbyterian.
Survivors include her husband, Erwin; three daughters, Nellie Vaughn of Zephyrhills, June Vieland of Dade City, and Helen Jones of Zephyrhills; a son, Raymond Bugbee of Spring Water, NY; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Carolyn Bushey.
A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home on Friday, March 16th, 2001 at 5:00 PM with Reverend Kevin Morris officiating.
Donna Turner Sandison
Donna Sandison, 68, of San Antonio, died Sunday, March 11th, 2001 at home. A native of Bay City, MI, she was a winter resident of San Antonio since 1982, coming from Wolverine, MI. She was the retired co-owner of a pharmacy and gift shop in Bay City and a member of the Community United Methodist Church in San Antonio.
Survivors include her husband, Virgil; two sons, Timothy Scott Sandison of Midland, MI and Thomas Lee Sandison of Charlevoix, MI; and two grandchildren.
Carl W. Avery, Sr.
Carl W. Avery, Sr., 58, of Dade City, died Friday, March 8th, 2001 at East Pasco Medical Center. A native of Adel, GA he moved to Dade City in 1958. He was a retired supervisor for REA and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, April Posey Avery; three sons, C.W. Avery, Jr. of Naples, NY, John Avery of Cordele, GA, and Douglas Harrington of Zephyrhills; three daughters, Annette Drake of Naples, NY, Janett Hooks of Dade City and Crystal Avery of Dade City; a brother, Millard Avery of Easley, SC; and ten grandchildren.
The family received friends from 6-8:00 PM on Monday, March 12th, 2001 at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
Samuel Sterling Doyle
Samuel S. Doyle, 79, of Wesley Chapel and Melbourne, died Wednesday, March 7th, 2001 at Hospice of Pasco in Dade City. A native of Hollister, Oklahoma, he was a retired Seaman. He was one of the original Navy Seals during WWII and was Lutheran. Lovingly known as Grandpa Sam, at the BackYard Bears Day School.
Survivors include two sons, Mark of Vero Beach and Paul of LaGrangeville, NY; three daughters, Dianne Henry and her husband, Tom, of Wesley Chapel, Terry Doyle of Winston Salem, NC and Judy Brown of Hollywood, FL; one sister, Bonnie Vedala of Boston; and two grandchildren, Sarah Doyle of LaGrangeville, NY and Steve Levy of New York, NY.
Funeral Services were held at Florida National Cemetery at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 12th, 2001 with Chaplain John Heufel officiating.
Joseph Connolly
Joseph S. Connolly, 82, of San Antonio, died Friday, March 2, 2001 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice in Dade City. A native of Brooklyn, NY, he was retired from the US Postal Service as well as a retired US Army Major and was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia.
A Memorial Service was held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church on Tuesday, March 6th, 2001 at 11:00 AM with Father Henry J. Riffle officiating. The family received friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hernando-Pasco Hospice, or St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.
Thomas O'Conner
Thomas O'Conner, 97, of Zephyrhills, died Thursday, March 1st, 2001 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice House in Dade City. A native of Pittsburgh, PA, he was a long time resident of this area. Survivors include a daughter, Joan Wenko of Pittsburgh; and one grandson.
The family has elected to have no local services.
Elva Skipworth Hildebrand
Elva Skipworth Hildebrand, 82, of Dade City, died Thursday, June 7th, 2001 at home. Arrangements are pending.
Joseph Francis Patrick Caren
Joseph Francis Patrick Caren, 76, of Wesley Chapel, died Sunday, June 3, 2001 at home. Born in Jersey City, NJ, he moved to Ridge wood, NJ and retired to Wesley Chapel. He retired in May of 1981 as a Fire Captain for the Ridgewood, NJ Fire Department, and was a US Navy Veteran, serving on the USS Rocky Mount during WW II in the Pacific theatre. He was a volunteer driver for the Florida Blood Services and was a pheresis donor. He was a member of the Atonement Lutheran Church of Wesley Chapel since its inception.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred J. Caren, of Wesley Chapel; five sons, Michael Ovens of St. Petersburg, Joe Caren, Jr., of Tampa, Steven Ovens of Salem, OR, Thomas Caren of Saddle River, NJ, and David Ovens of Weston, FL; three daughters, Marge Kreider of Fair Lawn, NJ, Kathleen Caren of West Milford, NJ and Pam Wolf of Lighthouse Point, FL; a brother, John Caren of Sun City, FL; a sister, Helen Voit of Woodridge, NJ; nineteen grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Brent of Atlanta and a son, Thomas Ovens of Pocono Pines, PA.
Memorial donations may be given to Hospice of Pasco, Inc. 3539 Universal Plaza, New Port Richey, FL 34652. Blood donations bay be given to Florida Blood Services, 5301 Fletcher Ave. East, Tampa, FL. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 16, 2001 at 10 a.m. at Atonement Lutheran Church, Wesley Chapel.
