Louis Lou Eugene Fleck
FLECK, Louis Lou Eugene, 89 of Orlando passed away Thursday, December 1, 2005 at the Sunbelt Health Care Center in Orlando, FL. Mr. Fleck was born December 18, 1915 in Pittsburg, PA and was formerly from Zephyrhills, moving here in 1959. He was a Machinist and a member of Victory Baptist Church in Zephyrhills. He is survived by his granddaughter Lynn Henry and her husband Marty of Orlando, grandson Louis E. Longieliere and his wife Sara of Eustis, FL; and three great-granddaughters, Christin, Rebecca and Morgan. Cremation arrangements made by Hodges Family Funeral Home.

John Riley Faulkingham
Faulkingham, John Riley, 92, Zephyrhills, Florida died December 31 at his residence after a brief illness. He was born February 19, 1913 in Jonesport, Maine. He served in the United States Coast Guard in World War II in the Philippines. He has been a resident of Valleydale RO Senior Park for 27 years. He was a retired Lobster Fisherman. He was a member of the Community of Christ Church in Zephyrhills. Also a member of Masonic Lodge Jonesport, ME#188, and a member of Zephyrhills Tourist Club where he was an avid Shuffleboard player and state pro. He is survived by a son, Reginald C. (Sonja) Faulkingham of Orrington, ME, a Daughter, Donna (Robert) Madison of Lake Havasu City, AZ, 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, a sister, Myrtle (Leslie) White Jr., Southwest Harbor, Maine. John is preceded by his wife Margaret A. Faulkingham, and two sisters, Mina Blaisdell and Lucille Hardy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hernando-Pasco Hospice, 37441 Clinton Ave, Dade City, and Fl. 33525. Private burial at Florida National Cemetery.

Shirley Ann Cox
COX, Shirley Ann, 65, of Zephyrhills, died Sunday, January 1, 2006 at Heritage Park Care Center in Zephyrhills. She moved to Florida in 1970 from her native Kentucky and was a homemaker. She was a loving mother and wife and was full of joy and happiness and made everyone around her laugh. Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Kent; four daughters, Tina Gibbons, Vickie Don, Lisa Hall and Starlene Cox, all of Zephyrhills; seven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Michael R. Cox in 1980. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Hwy 301 Chapel, at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2005 and a Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m.

George Henry Heller, II
HELLER, George Henry, II, 84, of Dade City, died Wednesday, December 30, 2005 at Gulfside Regional Hospice Care Center in Dade City. A native of Detroit Michigan, he moved to this area in 1965 from Macon, Georgia. He was a Regional Manager for North American Life Insurance Company in Philadelphia and Macon and moved to Tampa where he was the Property Manager for Verizon. He was a US Army Veteran of WWII in the European Theatre. He was an active member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church and was secretary there for nine years of the twenty years he attended. He was also an active member of the Dade City Friends of the Library. Survivors include his wife, Terry; his children, Lea Duckett of Atlanta, George Heller, III of Tallahassee, John Heller of Atlanta and Marla Jones of Riverview; eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Dade City with Father Douglas Zimmerman officiating. In lieu of flowers, Donations in his name may be made to St. Mary's Episcopal Church or Gulfside Regional Hospice.

Audie Aunita "Jo" Lofton
Audie Aunita "Jo" Lofton, 83, of Palm Harbor and Tampa, Florida departed this life December 29, 2005. She was born in Laurel, Mississippi on March 14, 1922 and was the loving wife to Devon Lofton, who preceded her in death. They were married for 51 years. She is survived by her twinsister, Juanita Collins, of Laurel, Mississippi, her son, Devon Lofton, Jr. and wife Elizabeth of Atlanta, Georgia and her daughter, Nina Schrotel and husband Buck of Tampa, Florida. Grandchildren include Scott Lofton and wife Stephanie, Kevin Lofton and wife Courtney, Kim Rowland and husband Ben, Keith Lofton, Bret Anderson and husband Kerry, and Merit Garcia and husband Alan. Great grandchildren include Stephanie, Taylor, Kaycie, Connor, Garrett, Chad and Haven. She was a graduate of Calhoun High School, Calhoun, Mississippi and a member of East Hill Baptist Church, Pensacola, Florida. She was a homemaker and a member of various church, art and garden clubs. Burial will be at Florida National Cemetery In lieu of flowers donations would be appreciated to Gulfside Regional Hospice, 6117 Trouble Creek Road New Port Richey, Florida 34653. She was laid to rest on December 30, 2005 at her husband's side at Florida National Cemetery.

Bula M. Nipper
Nipper, Bula M., 71, of Dade City, Florida, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at Pasco Regional Medical Center. She was born September 6, 1934 in Lacoochee, Florida the daughter of L. D. and Laura Palmer. She has lived in the area all of her life. She is survived by her husband, Royce Wilkerson; her children; Victoria (Henry) Gough, Dade City; Laura (J.C.) Hadley, Dade City; Alice (Lonnie Smith) Debruyn, Colquette, Georgia; Terry Nipper, Las Vegas, NV; Cindy Jett, Dade City; Rene’ (James) Kelske, Zephyrhills, FL; 2 sisters; Louise Stanley, Webster, and Margaret Jackson, Avon Park: Grandchildren: Allen, Michael, Carol and Henry Gough; Lisa Henry, Nicole Smith and Melissa Fisher, Nick Grant, Jason Alford, Larry Fisher; 18 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held 1 to 3 p.m., Saturday, December 31, 2005 at Hodges Family Funeral Home, 5th Street Chapel. She will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later time.

William D. "David" Mobley
MOBLEY, William D. "David", 78, of Dade City, died Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at home. A Dade City native, he served in both the US Army and US Air Force during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He attended the University of Florida and received a Bachelor's in History in 1958. He later obtained a Master's of Education and a Master's of Library Science from the University of South Florida. He began his teaching career at Lacoochee Elementary School and later became the Director of Media Services for the School District of Pasco County. The W. David Mobley Media Center in Land O'Lakes is named in his honor. Proud of his Dade City and Pasco Pioneer family heritage, he was a former member of the Pioneer Museum and the Pasco County County Fair Association. Survivors include two nephews, Jimmie Murphy and Frank Murphy, and his wife, Carol-Anne, both of Dade City; two grand nephews, Timothy Murphy and Ethan Murphy; and one grand niece, Alex Murphy. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 2, 2006 at Hodges Family Funeral Home, 5th Street Chapel.

Irene Peden Whitaker
WHITAKER, Irene Peden, 90 of Franklin, Tennessee passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2005 at Beacon Pointe Assisted Living in Franklin, TN. She was born April 21, 1915 in Franklin, TN and was a Farmer. She had formerly lived in Zephyrhills, Florida. Mrs. Whitaker is survived by a sister-in-law, Anna Lucille Dinwiddie of Portland, TN; two nieces, Linda White of Gallatin, TN and Sue Roth of Portland, TN; three nephews, Charles Dinwiddie of Franklin, TN, John Dinwiddie of Springfield, TN and Fred Dinwiddie of Portland, TN; and several great nieces and nephews. Burial will be at Oakside Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Paul L. Firenze
Firenze, Paul T, 85, died December 26, 2005. He was born in 1920 in Fulton, NY to Charles and Marie Firenze. He served in the U.S. Army Corp in World War II in Europe and the South Pacific. Paul retired from Schweitzer Aircraft in 1985. He enjoyed spending time with his two sons and their families. He was extremely proud of them. He was proud of his Italian heritage. When Paul became a great-grandfather he was nicknamed “Great” which he loved. Paul is survived by two sons, Charles (Sandra) Firenze, Ithaca, NY and Dr. Richard (Donna) Firenze, Binghamton, NY, two brothers Michael (Roxanne) Firenze and Joseph (Marie) Firenze of Fulton, NY and Zephyrhills, grandchildren: Paul Firenze, Providence R.I., Michael (Silvia) Firenze, Bamberg, Germany, Richard Firenze, Binghamton, NY and Margaret (Peggy) Firenze, Ithaca, NY Paul thought the world of his nieces and nephews. The family would like to express thanks to Irene Hall, Covington WV a dear friend. Paul will always be remembered for his strong opinions, childhood stories and “The good ‘old days” and missing the Trifeccta by a nose. He preceded by his loving wife of 49 years, Margaret (Mason) Firenze, brother Richard Firenze and sisters Anne Gentile and Carmella Vannucci. A graveside mass and celebration will be held in Fulton, NY in the spring of 2006

Vivian "Maureen" Sanders
Sanders, Vivian “Maureen”, 89, of Zephyrhills, Florida died Monday, December 26, 2005 at her residence after a prolonged illness. She was born June 10, 1916 in Lansing, MI and moved here from Lowell, MI. She worked for many years at Carboneau Industries in Grand Rapids, MI. Maureen was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star Organization. She was a member of Betmar Acres Shuffleboard Club. She was inducted into The Florida State Shuffleboard Hall of Fame and also in the Central District Shuffleboard Hall of Fame. Maureen represented the United States at the International Shuffleboard Tournament in Japan in the 1980’s. She is survived by her husband, Clifford Sanders, four daughters, Carol Briggs of Lowell, MI., Joanne Maass of Graham, WA, Maryanne Smith of Zephyrhills, Lois Maass of Las Vegas, NV, son Ronald Sanders of Farmington Hills, MI, and Janice Laux of Cache, OK. She is survived by 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She is preceded by a son Bill Laux of Cache, OK. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 9:00 on December 29, 2005 at Hodges Family Funeral Home on 54. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity or organization of your choice.

Marion Barton Long
Long, Marion Barton passed from this life on Thursday, December 22, 2005. She was born October 7, 1917 in Oneonta, NY. Her parents who preceded her were Chauncey and Catherine (Hughes) Barton. After graduating from high school, Marion completed a year Secretarial Degree at Albany Business College. During the summer of 1943 Marion traveled to Detroit, Michigan to meet her sweetheart. On July 17, 1943 Marion was married to Charles Long, also of Oneonta, who was stationed in the army near Detroit. During their married lives, Charlie and Marion lived and worked in Mississippi, Texas, California, New York and Florida. The 35 of the 45 years they were married, Charlie and Marion resided in FL. Marion was preceded by her beloved husband, Charles Long, in November 1987. Marion’s professional career as a secretary and accountant took her to Oneonta, NY in the early 1960’s where she was employed in the Milne Library on the SUNY Oneonta Campus. Marion enjoyed her affiliation with the University of South Florida in Tampa where she served as a secretary and mentor for graduate level students in the Accounting Department from 1966 until her retirement in 1982. Marion was a woman who had many interests including reading, traveling, music, and spending time with her family and friends. She loved young people and enjoyed encouraging them. Marion will be fondly remembered for her twinkling blue eyes and friendly smile and laughter. A graveside service will be held at Chapel Hill Gardens at 10:00 AM December 29, 2005.
