Edward C. Wedge age 69 of Zephyrhills Fla. Passed away Wednesday morning Mar 24th 2006 after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Edward was born to the late Clarence and Cherrie Wedge of North Reading, Mass. Edward owned and operated Wedge Construction of North Reading Mass. He also served as a special officer on the North Reading police department. After moving to Zephyrhills he worked with American Building Maintence as an Area Supervisor. He and his wife also owned and operated a Fantastic Sam’s hair salon. After retirement Ed was not one to be sedentary he returned to his first love, heavy equipment construction, with Larkin Construction. Edward was a strong Christian as evidenced by his affiliation with the Masonic Fraternity. Raised to the sublime degree of Master mason on March 21st. 1960 and inducted as a Master of the Royal Secret of the 32nd degree Scottish rite. He was later honored with the 33rd degree and was affiliated with the Tampa Shrine. Survivors include his wife, Jacquelyn Wedge of 30 years 2 sons 1 daughter and 6 grandchildren. Edward and Renee’ Wedge of Gainesville Fl., Shawn and Sandra Kelley of New Mexico, Kathyann and Edward Morris of Lochbuie, Co. Grandchildren, Philip and Jason Wedge, Joshua Speranza, Jeffrey and Nikki Morris and Owen Kelley. Edward was also survived by 2 sisters, Marjorie Nicoll of Zephyrhills Fla. and Glennalee Hein of North Reading Mass. There will be a private, family, memorial at a later date. Elizabeth Kilian
Kilian, Elizabeth, 81, of Dade City, FL, passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at Florida Hospital in Zephyrhills. She was born May 25, 1924 in Nuenstath, Germany, and moved to this area 19 years ago from Michigan. She is survived by her husband of 58 years and 4 months: Anton Kilian, Dade City, FL, and Saint Claire, MI; 2 sons: John & Elena Kilian, Portland, OR, Anton A. & Sueann Kilian, Emmett, MI; grandchildren: David A. & Elaine Kilian, Portland, OR, Michael P. & Dayna Kilian, Portland, OR, Holly E. Kilian, Emmett, MI; and 2 great granddaughters: Ashley Kilian and Katherine E. Kilian. Funeral services will be held 1pm Sunday, May 29, 2006 at Hodges Family Funeral Home’s 301 Chapel with Rev. Steve Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens. Friends may call from 4-7pm Saturday evening at the funeral home.
Frank Morrell
MORRELL, Frank, Jr., 67, of Dade City, died Monday, May 22, 2006 at home. A native of Monticello, Florida he was a long time resident of Dade City. A Veteran of the US Army, he loved to fish and enjoyed watching movies. He attended St. Paul’s Missionary Baptist Church. He retired in 2000 from Larkin Trucking Company. Survivors include his children, Frank Morrell, III (Amy, Shannon Morrell (Deann), Freddie Felder, Jimmie Morrell, Jamie Morrell (Brandie), Willie Morrell, Taneta Morrell, Khara Morrell and Betsy Morrell, all of Dade City; two brothers, Jimmie Morrell (Ann) of Brooksville and Willie C. Morrell of St. Petersburg; one sister, Lou Vanna Monroe of Tampa; and 24 Grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, 5th Street Chapel, from 5-7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 29, 2006. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2006 at St. Paul's Misssionary Batist Church. Burial, with full military honors will be held at Florida National Cemetery.
Ralph E. Small, Sr
Small, Sr., Ralph E., 20 days short of 95, formerly of Zephyrhills passed away in Las Vegas, Nevada, May 17, 2006. He was born in Benzonia, Michigan and moved here after he retired. He was a Senior Designer for GM Technical Center, Warren, MI. He was also a builder. He built several homes and helped build several churches in the U.S. He retired early to help Missionaries abroad by building homes, dorms, and churches in Canada, Hawaii, also along the Amazon River in Brazil. He was a very active member of Victory Baptist Church in Zephyrhills and helped in their building program. His loving family survives him, including his wife, Martha, his children Ralph, E. Small, Jr., TX, Linn Small, Sr., NV, Suzanne Scheffler, MI, Elaine Thompson, MI, and Jonathan Small, CA, 16 grandchildren and 26great- grandchildren. He will be placed by his first wife Neoma Small who precedes him. A visitation will be held at Victory Baptist Church Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at 9:30 AM. The Service will follow at 10:00 AM and the Rev. Robert Sims will officiate.
Donald E. Hatt
Hatt, Donald E., 77, of Dade City, FL, passed away Friday, May 19, 2006 at Pasco Regional Medical Center in Dade City. He was born July 8, 1928 in Milo, ME, to Fred A. Hatt and Frances O’Leary Hatt. He retired from the United States Air Force and also worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Kissimmee, FL. He is survived by his wife of 58 years: Mary Lou Hatt, Dade City, FL; 3 sons: Donald R. Hatt, Dover, NH, Stephen L. Hatt, Wiscasset, ME, Richard A. Hatt, Lebanon, NH; 1 brother: Jim Hatt, Maine; 2 sisters: Vicki Jardine, Orrington, ME, Jeanette Crandall, Bangor, ME; 6 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. A memorial service will be held in Maine at a later date. Rosemary Moffatt
Moffatt, Rosemary, 79, Dade City, Florida, passed away Friday, May 12, 2006 at East Pasco Regional Medical Center, Dade City. She was born May 24, 1927 in Shickshinny, PA, the daughter of John and Rose Hill. She has lived in Dade City since August 2005 moving from South Florida. She was married to Norman Moffatt, who precedes her in death. She is survived by her son: David Lazar and wife, Colette of Dade City, two sistesr- Barbara Moyer and Dorothy Bach, both of Pennsylvania; and her grandchildren Colema and Colesa Lazar and Joseph Lambert. Services were private.
Thomas A. Honeycutt
Honeycutt, Thomas A., 80, of Ridge Manor, FL, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at his home in Ridge Manor under the care of Hernando-Pasco Hospice. He was born December 4, 1925 in Smokemont, NC, to Dan Honeycutt and Talitha Bradley. He worked at General Motors for 30 years, was a member of the General Motors Corvair Club, and was a master of finely crafted mountain dulcimers. He is survived by his wife of 57 years: Daisy Horn Honeycutt, Ridge Manor, FL; 3 sons & daughters-in-law: Allen & Judy Coker, Dade City, FL, Thomas & Michel Ann Honeycutt, Edgewood, WA, Mark C. & Susan Honeycutt, Round Lake, IL; 2 brothers: Sam Honeycutt, Gastonia, SC, Crawford Honeycutt, Washington, DC; 2 sisters: Betty Jean Feamster, Tuckaseegee, NC, June Pilkey, Roberta, GA; 5 grandchildren: Lisa Harris, Brian Coker, Kristi Hollar, Jason Coker, Paul Honeycutt; 6 great grandchildren: Alanna Coker, Christian Hollar, Chadwick Hollar, Caydon Hollar, Bethany Harris, Katlin Harris. Dorothy I. Brenn
BRENN, Dorothy I., 88, of Dade City, died Monday, May 15, 2006 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Center in Dade City. A native of Halfmoon, New York, she had been a resident of Dade City since 1949. She was the Co-Owner of Brenn’s Lawn & Garden Equipment in Saratoga County, NY for 30 years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Dade City and was a member and past Treasurer of the Ladies Episcopal Society of the Albany, NY Diocese. She was also Past President of the Halfmoon Women of the American Legion and the Saratoga County American Legion. Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Charles; two sons, Charles Brenn of Northville, NY and Howard Brenn of Dade City; a brother, Willis Martin of Clifton Park, NY; three granddaughters; and four great granddaughters. Graveside Funeral Services will be held at Florida National Cemetery on Monday, May 22, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Douglas Zimmerman officiating. Thelma Mae Peck Henry
Thelma Mae Peck Henry, 94, of Winter Haven (formerly of Dade City, for 60 years), died following a brief illness, on Sunday May 14, 2006 at the home of her son in Winter Haven, FL. She was born May 1, 1912 in Rochester, N.Y. to the late Frank and Harriet Peck. She was a beautician and owned Thelma’s Beauty Shop in Dade City, FL, for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband Judge George E. Henry in 1981. She is survived by her son Jack Henry, daughter-in-law, Thelma Henry of Winter Haven; two granddaughters, Debra Lopez (Jose) of Fort Myers, FL. and Betsy Levine (Dr. Steven) of Casselberry, FL. One step-grandson Gilbert Hogue (Carrie) of Winter Haven. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 19, 2006 from 12:00pm until 1:00pm at Hodges Family Funeral Home (11441 U.S. Hwy 301, Dade City). Julia Batista
Batista, Julia, 94, of Dade City, died Sunday, May 14, 2005 at her home. A native of Loiza, Puerto Rico, she moved to this area in 2004 from Rochester, New York. She was a retired laborer for Gerber Baby Food in Rochester and was Baptist. She was predeceased by her husband, Francisco; and a daughter, Providencia. Survivors include six children, Jose Batista and Marcelina Vargas, both of Rochester, Francisco Batista of Zephyrhills, Neftali Batista of Titusville, Elizabeth Biechler of Westminster, California and Jesus Batista of Dade City; 24 Grandchildren; and numerous great and great great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2006. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2007 at the funeral home with Pastor Alba Perez officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens.
