Partin, Janie Pearl, 83, Zephyrhills, Florida passed away Sunday, June 9, 2006 at her residence surrounded by those she loved. She was born January 21, 1923 in Creedmoor, North Carolina. She moved to Forest Lake Estates in Zephyrhills 11 years ago. She was a bookkeeper for various insurance companies and a volunteer for the election polls at Forest Lake Estates. She loved her southern roots, her family and church. She passed along to her children her Christian values from both the Mangum and the Knight family heritage. She was a loving mother to her children, son, Lynwood Gibson Pleasant and wife Brenda, Loma, CO, and daughter Wanda and husband Ed Laezza, Zephyrhills; she adored her 4 grandchildren, Jason (Beth) Laezza, Middleburch, FL., Megan Laezza, Zephyrhills, Anthony (Maria) Laezza, Kings Bay, GA and Maddie Pleasant, Durango, CO; and 4 great-grandchildren, Tamaira Leigh, Nicole Elizabeth, Layla Adrina, and Mason Edward. She was preceded by her husband Carlton Partin, Jr. in 2002. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, July 14, 2006 at 11:00 AM at Forest Lake Estates Community Center. Pastor Mike McCormick from Forest Lake Interfaith Church will preside. In lieu of flowers, donations made sent to Hernando Pasco Hospice.
Kenneth R. Dykes
Dykes, Kenneth R., 90, of Zephyrhills, Florida, passed away Monday, July 10, 2006. He was born March 30, 1916 in Dykes, Kentucky to Sarah Jane Hargis Dykes and Peter F. Dykes. He served in the US Army Corps of Engineers in World War II and was awarded a number of decorations, including the Bronze Star Medal. He was a member of the Normandy Invasion and took part in campaigns in France and Germany. He worked for LTV Steel in Cleveland until his retirement in 1974, when he and his wife, the late Electa Dykes, moved to Florida. He is survived by three nieces and 6 nephews. There will be a visitation on July 13, 5 to7 pm at Hodges Family Funeral Home, 54 Chapel, Zephyrhills, and a graveside service at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell with military honors at 10 am Friday, July 14.
Briannah Lexi Nobles
NOBLES, Briannah Lexi, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2006, at home. She was the infant daughter of Cheri McCullough and Kevin Nobles of Webster. Survivors include her parents; two sisters, Serena Sabatelli and Lillian Nobles, both of Webster; her paternal grandparents, Tim and Linda Foster and Patrick Nobles; her maternal grandmother, Detanna Sabatelli and maternal step-grandfather, Bart Sabatelli. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2006, at the Hwy 301 Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Trilby Cemetery.
Grace Wilson
Wilson, Grace, 93, of Zephyrhills, left this life on October 28, 2006 while under the care of Heritage Park nursing center. Mrs. Wilson was born on April 26, 2006 in Colorado and moved to Zephyrhills in 1969 with her beloved husband the late Harold G. Wilson and three children Lawrence Wilson, John Wilson, and the late Phyllis Wanner. Mrs. Wilson is survived by her two children Lawrence and John, seven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. She was a devoted member of the 1st United Methodist Church of Zephyrhills where she sang in the choir for 30 years. Arrangements were made by Hodges Family Funeral Home (5221 8th Street, Zephyrhills), a memorial service for Mrs. Wilson will be held on Friday, November 3, 2006 at 4:30pm at the First United Methodist Church in Zephyrhills.
Wayne Gerhardt
Gerhardt, Wayne, 80, of Ridge Manor, FL left this life on October 30, 2006 following a short illness. Mr. Gerhardt was born in Jamestown, NY on June 27, 1926. He was the son of Martian L. Gerhardt and Cozette Seneff Gerhardt of Ridge Manor. He served in the Navy during World War II and later in the Korean Conflict. Wayne graduated from West Liberty State Teachers College in West Virginia and began his career as a mathematics teacher at Rawlings Junior High in Cleveland, OH where he taught for 25 years before retiring to Ridge Manor several years ago. He was a member of the VFW, the Moose Lodge, and the Eagles. He is survived by his sister, Dorothy Gerhardt Jones of Columbus, OH, three nephews, Bruce, Brian, and Brent Jones, and a companion of several years, Ginny Bolin also of Ridge Manor. Visitation hours for Mr. Gerhardt will be held from 10:00am to 12:00pm with a funeral service immediately following at 12:00pm at Hodges Family Funeral Home (11441 U.S. Hwy 301, Dade City). Rev. Tom Marshall of Hernando Pasco Hospice will officiate and military honors will be provided by the Dade City VFW.
Jeffrey Joseph Plourde
Plourde, Jeffrey Joseph, 46, of Dade City, FL, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2006 at his home. He was born December 30, 1959 in Waterville, ME, and moved to this area 11 years ago from Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He owned and operated Jeff Plourde Inc., and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of St. Joseph, FL. He was an avid coach of the San Antonio Youth Baseball League. James Richard Steele
James Richard Steele, 81, died on Monday, October 30, 2006 of natural causes. Born in Ozark, Missouri on May 13, 1925, he came to Lakeland in 1987 from Ann Arbor, Michigan. Mr. Steele served in the US Army Air Force in WWII and received an MBA from the University of Illinois. He worked as a Broadcast Station Manager in Ohio and Michigan before coming to Florida. He was a member of the Ridge Woodcarvers Club and received the First Emeritus’ Lifetime Membership Award. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Mae Gillis; daughter, Lynda Farris of Lakeland; son, Andrew of St. Louis; sister, Suzanne Kemp of Houston; brother Robert of San Francisco; granddaughters Lindsay, Lauren, Eliana and Carissa and grandson Joshua. Mr. Steele was preceded in death by his son James Richard Steele Jr. in 1985. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Estates at Carpenters Chapel, 1001 Carpenters Way, Lakeland. William "Junior" Lloyd
Lloyd, William “Junior”, 39, of Ocala, died Saturday, October 28, 2006 at home. A native of Fort Benning, Georgia, he was a long time resident of this area. He was employed as a drywall finisher for Mud Slinger, Inc. in Ocala. Survivors include his mother, Annie Lloyd of Ocala; two brothers, Dewey Lloyd of Ocala and James Lloyd of Lacoochee; his wife Lily; and children Frankie and Brady. Graveside funeral services will be held on Friday, November 3, 2006 at Dade City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home (5th Street Chapel) one hour prior to the service.
Stanley S. Alleyne
Alleyne, Stanley S. “PeeWee”, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2006 on his 80th birthday. He was born Oct. 26, 1926 in St. Michael, Barbados, the son of Oscar and Rose Alleyne. He lived in the area for the last 50 years and had worked as a lab tech for CF Industries for 25 years, retiring in 1996. He is survived by his wife, Gladys Wright-Alleyne, his children: Larry Wright and his wife Constance of Trilby, FL, Woodrow Wright of Albany, NY, Wallace Wright and his wife Darlene of Fayetteville, NC, Cecil Wright and his wife Ursula of Dade City, FL, Joseph Alleyne and his wife Lisa of Thonotosassa, FL and Jean Alleyne of St. Michael, Barbados; 14 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra J. Alleyne-Davis. Services will be 11 am., November 4, 2006 at the Church of God in Christ in Dade City. Burial will follow at Floral Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 5 to 7 pm Friday at Hodges Family Funeral Home, 5th Street Chapel.
Ronald A. Frascone
Frascone, Ronald A., 52, of Dade City, died Friday, October 27, 2006 at Pasco Regional Medical Center. A native of Bronx, New York, he moved to this area in 1997 from Atlanta, Georgia. He was an accountant for Met Life Insurance Company and was Catholic. Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Paula; three children, Emily, Lily, and Chloe Frascone, all of Dade City; his mother, Clarissa Frascone of Zephyrhills; a brother, Richard Frascone and his wife, Patricia of Zephyrhills; and one niece and one nephew. Funeral Services were held in the chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home, 5th Street Chapel, on Sunday, October 29, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. with Father John Hayes as celebrant. The family received friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
Annie Lillian Ethridge
Ethridge, Annie Lillian, 78, of Hudson, FL, passed away October 21, 2006 at Tandem Nursing Home in Hudson. She was born November 9, 1927 in Wheeler County, GA. She was a Homemaker and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She is survived by 10 children: Larry, Judith, Johnny, Nathan, Janice, Joyce, Jeannie, Angela, Archie Elvis, and Kathryn & Jerry Taylor; 1 sister: Alice E. Stanley, Plant City, FL; several grandchildren including her special granddaughter: Nina Rush, Hudson, FL; and numerous great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband: Archie E. Rainey Sr.; and 3 children: Theresa Ann Bush, Carl Dyal, Krystal Rush. Funeral services were held 1pm Friday, October 27, 2006 at Hodges Family Funeral Home 5th Street Chapel. Burial followed at Chapel Hill Gardens. In lieu of flowers, Kathryn request donations in her memory to Hernando-Pasco Hospice.
Ferdinand “Fred” Sano
Sano, Ferdinand, “Fred”, 85, of Zephyrhills, passed away October 23, 2006. He was born January 18, 1921 in Needham, Massachusetts. Fred was a Veteran serving in the U. S. Air Force during World War II. He and his wife Gertrude of 56 years lived in Timberlake Estates. Fred is survived by his wife, Gertrude, a brother-in-law, Walter McGinley and wife Virginia of Brooksville, Mass. and several nieces and nephews. Services were private at Chapel Hill Gardens, Dade City. He will be missed.
