Marjorie Tebb Latson
LATSON, Marjorie Tebb, 86, passed away September 15, 2006, at Saint Richard's Hospital in Chichester, England, after taking ill at her home in West Chiltington, Sussex. Marjorie Vera Blanche Tebb was born October 7, 1920, in Woolwich (East London), England, to William George Tebb and Blanche Susan (Smith) Tebb. At a young age, the Tebb family moved from East London to Southwick, in Wiltshire, where they remained until the "Gathering Storm" of World War II approached. Young Marjorie's parents then moved to Bedford, north of London, just prior to the "Battle of Britain," while Marjorie moved back to Woolwich to work in the munitions factory as one of Winston Churchill's citizen-soldiers. It was here that the impact of the "Blitz" was most concentrated. After endless days and long hours of work manufacturing the necessary munitions to defend England from invasion, Marjorie decided one weekend to visit her parents in Bedford, and it was while at the train station at Bedford on her return trip to Woolwich that she was noticed by William R. Latson, a young 8th Air Force airman from Pasco County. With the end of the war, Marjorie and her 10-month-old daughter, Marjorie Ann, followed her husband back to the United States, to Pasco County, arriving by train in March 1946, where she made her home for the remainder of her life. Marjorie was retired from Lykes-Pasco Packing Co. In her retirement, she painted and did beautiful needlework, which won many blue ribbons at the Pasco County Fair. Marjorie will be more fondly remembered for helping raise generations of children of friends in the Dade City area. During the summer months, she traveled to England to the home she shared with her husband, Leonard V. Green, who predeceased her in 1998. Marjorie was also predeceased by another husband, a fine English gentleman, William George Mitchell. A daughter, Marjorie Ann Latson Frost, also predeceased her.
