Myra Jane Brown
Brown, Myra Jane, 82, formerly of Land O Lakes and Chicago, IL passed away September 9, 2006. She was born in Chicago November 26, 1923, the daughter of the Late Leo C. and Alice (Gnass) Terrence. Myra was formerly employed as a School Teacher in Chicago and ran the Secretarial Pool at the IL Central Railroad. She moved to Land O Lakes, Florida in 1980. She moved to Hanover in 1997. She enjoyed fishing and was an animal lover. Wife of the late John R. Brown and the late Earle Ditzel, she is survived by 1 son, Daniel T. Ditzel, Hanover, 2 grandchildren: James M. Ditzel, Pembroke and Patricia Gudbrandsen, Mashpee and one great grandchild, Jaustin Gudbrandsen. Funeral Services were held at the Sullivan Funeral Home in Hanover. Interment was in Chapel Hill Gardens Cemetery, Dade City, FL.

William C. Richards
Richards, William C., 72, of Zephyrhills, FL, passed away Friday, September 8, 2006 at Florida Hospital Zephyrhills. The youngest of 8 children, he was born July 4, 1934 in Saginaw, MI, and moved to this area 20 years ago from Michigan. He worked as a Machine Operator for US Graphite in Saginaw, MI, for 18 years. He was an avid sportsman, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Pasco Area Computer User’s Group and was very helpful in assisting friends and neighbors with their computers and computer issues. He is survived by his wife: Marguarite Richards, Zephyrhills, FL; 1 son: Rob & Mary Richards, Caro, MI; 1 sister: Lillian DeCorte, Saginaw, MI; and 2 grandchildren: April Richards and Ashley Richards. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Stella, Margaret, Betty, Madolyn, Ray, and Gerald. A memorial service was held 10am Thursday, September 14, 2006 at Hodges Family Funeral Home 54 Chapel. Interment followed at Florida National Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, family request donations in his memory to Hernando-Pasco Hospice 37445 Clinton Avenue, Dade City, FL 33525 or a charity of your choice.

Hedy Jane Roberts
Roberts, Hedy Jane, 54, of Dade City, died Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at home. She was a life long area resident and was a seafood worker in Tampa, retiring in 1994. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy. Survivors include Patrick Flannery, Sr., Ruthie Flannery and Jennifer Hall, all of Dade City, Jerry Abrue, Sr., and Diane Abrue, both of Homosassa, Thomas Gaskins of Tampa, Patrick Flannery, Jr., Elizabeth Flannery, and Donald Flannery, all of Dade City, Tonya Walker Perez and Jose Perez, both of Lakeland, and Jerry Abrue, Jr., Ashley Nicole Walker, Tiffany Lynn Walker, and Chloe Marie Walker, all of Lakeland. Memorial services was held in the chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home at 12 Noon on Saturday, September 16, 2006 with Pastor Steve Damsa officiating.

Pearlene Lura Bradley
Bradley, Pearlene Lura, 85, of Lacoochee, died Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at Royal Oak Nursing Center. A native of Little Springs, Mississippi, she lived in Natchez, Miss. for 70 years before moving to Florida in 1990. She was employed in the home health care business and retired in 1975. She was a member of the Heart Center Church of God. Survivors include a son, Glynn (Betty) Bradley of Lakeland; a daughter, Helen (Bill) Sanderson of Lacoochee; a brother, Howell (Annette) McManus, of Natchez, Miss.; a sister, Doris Dunigan of McCall Creek, Miss.; five grandchildren, Bobbie Whittington, Tony (Tracy) Sanderson, Malena Sanderson, Rocky (Wanda) Bradley and Rickey (Tracy) Bradley; seven great grandchildren, Allan (Lacey) Whittington, Tiffany Whittington, Chad Whittington, Blain Sanderson, Bailey Sanderson, Brandon Bradley and Danielle Fay Bradley; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Aaron and Annie McManus; her husband Wallace Bradley; and two brothers Cecil McManus, and her twin, Elmer McManus. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2006 at the Heart Center Church of God with Reverend Mervin Sherlin officiating. The family received friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial followed at Trilby Cemetery.

John “Jack” Franklin Austin
Austin, John “Jack” Franklin, 66, Zephyrhills, Florida passed away September 2, 2006 at Hernando Pasco Hospice Care Center in Dade City. John was born October 28, 1939 in Mount Kisco, New York son of Roy and Gertrude Austin. He moved to Florida in 1984 from New York. He was an Operating Engineer with Local 832 in Rochester, NY. John was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Zephyrhills. He is survived by his loving family including his children, Debera (Kenneth) Cook, Fort Scott, KY, Dianna Scarborough, Zephyrhills, Donna Wilbanks, Zephyrhills, Denise (Vincent) Calkins, Ellicottville, NY and Roy John Austin, Olean, NY, foster son, Troy Davis, Spring Hill, 13 grandchildren and one great-grandson; two sisters, Beatrice Austin and Patricia Austin both of Zephyrhills and one niece, Michelle Weaver, Orman Beach. He is preceded in death by his companion Gloria Austin in 2004. Farewell Gathering will be announced at a later date at the Eagles.

Eleuterio “Joe” Rangel
Rangel, Eleuterio “Joe”, 80, of Dade City, FL, passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2006 in Dade City under the care of Gulfside Regional Hospice. He was born February 20, 1926 in Queretaro, Mexico, and moved to Dade City in 1970. He retired from the Lykes Pasco Packing Co. where he was a longtime employee. He is survived by his sons: Alvaro & Chris Rangel, Edcouch, TX, Jose & Beth Rangel, Stillman Valley, IL; four grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vicenta Rangel. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Valerie Carlson
CARLSON, Valerie A., 50, of Dade City, FL, passed away Monday, September 4, 2006 in Zephyrhills. She was born November 6, 1955 in Melbourne, FL, to Harold Brooks Burleson and Jane Maurer. Valerie was a Veterinary Technician and loved animals and nature. Her children were her life and she found time to help other mothers with twins and triplets. Coming to Dade City 17 years ago she fascinated children with her library reading adventures. More recently, Valerie was active with the Pioneer Museum, being custodian of the Depot Museum for several years. She was a dear friend of Bill W., a faithful servant who touched and helped many lives. Valerie was an artist and a builder and always a caring loving person. She left the world a more beautiful place for the rest of us. She is survived by her husband: Arnold Carlson; mother: Jane Slaughter; father: Harold Burleson; daughter: Millinea; sons: August and Peter; sisters: Nancy Papke, Karen Burleson, and Jane Ryals; and niece: Naline Davila. A memorial service was held 3pm, Saturday, September 9, 2006 at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church with Father Douglas Zimmerman.

Leila Durden Faenza
Faenza, Leila Durden, 95, passed away Sept. 6, while in the care of Hospice. Survivors are her daughter, Louise Frassrand, son, Pat Fennell (Marilyn), daughter-in-law, Micheline Fennell, two sisters, Eunice DuBose and Geneva (Jay) Elwood. Leila is preceded in death by husband, Al Faenza, son, Johnie Fennell, parents, Ida and Greenie Durden, daughter-in-law, Jerrye Fennell, grandsons Patrick Fennell and John Paul Fennell, four sisters and one brother. Leila is survived by eight grandchildren, fifteen great grand children, and four great great grandchildren. Leila was born in Zephyrhills, Fla. Sept. 25, 1910 and attended public schools in San Antonio. She worked in the retail grocery business in Miami and retired in 1973. Leila was active in volunteer work at the VA Hospital in Miami, was a member of the American Legion, Post #98 Auxiliary, Coral Gables, Fla. and was also a member of the Ladies of the Moose. Friends and family were invited to Louise’s home to celebrate Leila’s life and 96th birthday on Sept 23, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. There will be no services. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Hernando-Pasco Hospice, Dade City, or the charity of your choice.

Ann Claire Hieckel Baier
Baier, Anne Claire Hieckel, 94 yrs of The Villages, Lady Lake, Florida, passed away after a long illness on Monday, September 4, 2006. She was born August 12, 1912. She lived in New York, until her and her husband moved to Zephyrhills when she was 65. She then moved to the Villages in 2000. She was a great lady, devoted wife and mother, and was loved by many. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Anna Glasser Hieckel; her beloved husband, Charles Michael Baier and two sons, Charles Jr. and Richard Baier. She is survived by her loving sons, Kenneth F. Baier and Robert C. Baier and devoted daughter Jean E. Baier. She also leaves 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. A Funeral Mass were 11 am Friday, September 8, 2006 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Zephyrhills with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment followed at Oakside Cemetery, Zephyrhills. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice in the Villages. Hodges Family Funeral Home, Highway 54 Chapel, Zephyrhills in charge of arrangements.
