Douglas, Donald Lee, 63, of Tampa entered into eternal rest August 22, 2006 at Melech Hospice House in Temple Terrace, Florida after battling prostate cancer. Don was preceded in death by both parents, Billy and Muriel Douglas of Dade City and sister Shirley (Claudia) McGraw. He is survived by his nephew, Claude Brown, Jr. and his wife, Cindy; and by a brother-in-law, retired 1st SGT Claude Brown, Sr. Don was a US Army Veteran and retired from Florida State DOT after 22 years. The past 5 years he worked as a security guard for IPC at the International Mall in Tampa. The family wishes to thank the great services provided by LifePath Hospice and the Melech Hospice House. The care and comfort they provided made Don’s transition occur with great dignity. We thank you immensely. Graveside services were held Friday, August 25, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
Marjorie L. Huber
HUBER, Marjorie L. passed from this earth August 24,2006. She was born January 12, 1921, in Greenfield, Mass. She was a generous, selfless person whose gentle touch and quirky sense of humor endeared her to all. She loved the Lord with all her heart, from knitting for missions to helping with meals on wheels, she truly had an abundant heart. She came to Zephyrhills 40 years ago from Virginia, as the U.S. post mistress at the Neukom's Drug store substation. She was a member of the Christian ' Missionary Alliance Church, Zephyrhills stamp club and meals on wheels, she touched a lot of lives. Her husband Max L. Huber preceded her in death in 1969. She is survived by and will be deeply missed by her loving family including children; Eric (Lucy) Huber Of Zephyrhills, Fla., Janet (Frank)Knapp of Ocala, Fla. Elizabeth (Roger) Cooper of Zephyrhills, Fla., Beverly (Gerald Peacock) Triplett of Zephyrhills, Fla.; sister, Rachel Rhodes of Portsmouth, Va.; five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Visitation took place 5-7 p.m. Monday at the Hodges Family Funeral Home on 8th Street. Funeral services were at the Christian ' Missionary Alliance Church 6 p.m. Tuesday evening, with Pastor Paul Bartnick officiating. In lieu of flowers, family request donations in her memory to Hernando Pasco Hospice.
Robert “Motorcycle Bob” Hency
Hency, Robert “Motorcycle Bob”, 76, of Dade City, died Tuesday August 22nd, 2006 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice in Dade City. A native of Detroit, Michigan, he moved to this area in 1986 from Lincoln Park, MI. He was a retired steelworker for Great Lakes Steel in Detroit. A US Army Veteran, he helped found Michigan Re-Treads, a Motorcycle Club in Detroit. He was a member of the Eagles, Moose Lodge, & was an avid archer & loved to dance. Survivor include four children; Harvy Hency and Debora Pack of Manchester, TN, and Kim Hency of Melvindale, MI , and Stuart Hency of East Point, MI; and three grandchildren, Lance Corporeal Eric Climie of Melvindale, and Leading Chief Petty Officer Chad Hency, and Dylan Hency, both of East Point, MI. Family received friends 4-7 p.m. on Thursday August 24, 2006 at the funeral home. Graveside services were held at Florida National Cemetery at 12:30 on Friday, August 25, 2006. An Eagles Memorial Service was held at the Lodge # 4399 at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, August 27, 2006.
George Frazier
Frazier, George, 78 years, longtime Dade City resident, passed away Thursday, August 17, 2006 in Clearwater. He was born December 10, 1927 in Hope, Kentucky, the son of Jack and Loretta Frazier. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a mechanic for Indian Rocks Fire Department, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Mason Lodge #139 in St Petersburg and life member of VFW Post #6827 in St. Petersburg. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Lee; his siblings, Faye Davis of Franklin, Ohio, Judy Bush, J.B. Hagins, and Adrian Hagins of Middletown, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services with military honors was held on August 23, 2006 at Florida National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Hospice of Florida Suncoast, 5271 Roosevelt Blvd., Clearwater, 33760.
Pandora Faith Hogan
Hogan, Pandora Faith, 52, left this life on August 21, 2006, surrounded by family at her home in Dade City. Pandora was born in Fort Pierce, Florida on February 4, 1954 and lived a life of loving generosity. She leaves behind her very loving family including her husband Drummond, sons Josh Hollinger and Joshua Hogan and daughter Kaitlan Hogan. Her mother and father, Betty and Bill Reeves grieve the loss of a dear daughter. She will be greatly missed by her two sisters Sabrina Greene and Renee (James) Northen and sister and brother in-law Debbie and Wayne Johnson as well as her many nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held in her honor at Hodges Family Funeral Home (11441 U.S. Hwy 301, Dade City) on Thursday, August 24, 2006 with a gathering being held from 1-2pm and a service beginning at 2:00pm. The family of Mrs. Hogan would like to give a special thanks to their family, friends and the nurses and staff of Hospice, particularly Ms. Linda Reid, RN for all the love and support that they have extended to them in these difficult times and asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Hernando Pasco Hospice.
James Dale Chapman
Chapman, James Dale 73 years, of Wesley Chapel, passed away, Friday, August 18, 2006 at his home. He was born May 5, 1933 in Post, Texas, the son of James Rudford and Nina Belle Chapman. He has lived in Wesley Chapel the last 13 years, moving from Motville, NJ. He worked for Lipton as a materials manager retiring 15 years ago. He was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Catherine Chapman on May 10, 2005. He loved his family, friends, golf, wine, fine food and restaurants, theater and loved life. He was loving husband, father and grandfather and was a loyal friend. He received his Masters degree from Texas Tech while raising his family and working full time. He had a bulldog determination. He was a Korean War Army Veteran. He is survived by his mother, Nina Belle Chapman of Austin, Texas; his children: James Dale Chapman, Jr. of Rochester, NY; David Keith Chapman of Libby, MT; K’Lynn Hand of San Jose, CA and Marcelle Chapman of Campbell, CA; siblings, Sue Grigsby of West Plains, MO; Sandra Bloodworth of Austin, Texas; his grandchildren: Jacob Pereira of San Jose, CA, Sarah Hand of San Jose, CA, James Richard Chapman of Boulder Creek, CA and Abner Robert Simmons IV of Brownfield, TX; his great grandchildren; Nathan Pereira, Joshua Pereira, Tyler Mangione and Oliva Patricia Rose Chapman; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Elmer Morvatz
Morvatz, Elmer, 80, of the Southfork Community in Dade City, died Monday, August 21, 2006 at Hernando Pasco Hospice in Dade City. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Betty Morvatz, his Father & Mother, John and Laura Belle Morvatz of Palermo, Ohio, two brothers, Melvin and Mathew and a sister, Anna, all from Ohio. He is survived by a brother, John of Carrolton, Ohio; a sister, Marie of Akron, Ohio, a son Vincent of Akron, Ohio, many nieces and nephews, and friends in the Dade City, Florida Area. Mr. Morvatz had lived in the Southfork Community for twelve years where he was respected as a community leader. Before retirement to the Florida community he spent his life as a dairy farmer in his younger years and went on to become a well renowned auctioneer and realtor in the east central Ohio area. Mr. Morvatz served in the US Army, as a paratrooper, from 1945 until 1947. He was honorably discharged at the rank of First Sergeant. Interment will be at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida. A memorial service for friends was conducted at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Hernando-Pasco Hospice in Dade City.
Frank E. Siebold, Sr.
Siebold, Frank E., 74, of San Antonio, died Monday, August 21, 2006 at Florida Hospital Zephyrhills. A native of Scranton, PA, he moved to this area in 1961 from San Antonio, Texas. He retired from the USAF in 1971 and was then employed as a computer supervisor for Honeywell Industries, retiring in 1990. He was the Past President of VFW Post 424 in Tampa, Past President and Secretary for the Cooties and was a member of the Rattlesnake Association of San Antonio. He was a soccer coach and member of the Temple Terrace Soccer Association, and avid golfer and bowler and enjoyed watching football. Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Blanche; two children, Susan Fussell and her husband, Sam of Milledgeville, GA and Frank Siebold, Jr. of San Jose, CA; a sister, Mame Davis and her husband, Joe of New Jersey; two brothers, Jack Siebold of New York and Allen Siebold of PA; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.. The family received friends at the funeral home, 5th Street Chapel from 12 until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 24, 2006 (Today). In lieu of flowers, donation is his name may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
Ruth I. Wilson
Wilson, I. Ruth, 76 years of Zephyrhills, Florida, passed away Sunday, August 20, 2006 at Tampa General Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 30, 1929 in Niagra Falls, New York, the daughter of Harold and Mildred Westcott. She has lived in Zephyrhills since 1990 moving from Wilson, NY.
She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Zephyrhills and President and member of Zephyr Bees Quilt Guild. She married Tower Wilson, Sr., on June 15, 1945 in Lockport, NY. She is survived by her husband, Tower, her children: Tower (Jane) Wilson, Jr of Burleson, Texas, Beth Ann (Jeff) Neutze of Orlando; Judith Lynn (Bill) Rose of Zephyrhills; Carol Lee (Ed) Hand of Dade City; Barbara Jean (David) Gammiero of Rochester, NY; Dale (Joan) Wilson of Wilson, NY and Paul Charles Wilson, Sr of Synder, TX; her siblings, Arlene Jerla of Wilson, NY; Lois Gombert, Ransomville, NY and Harold Stanley Westcott of Missouri; 21 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three children, John Lawrence Wilson, Ruth Marie Wilson and Glynn Paul Wilson, a granddaughter, Janell Jane Wilson; her father, Harold Westcott and her mother and stepfather, Mildred and Glynn Wilson. Memorial services was held 11:30 Thursday, August 21, 2006 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 20th St. Burial will be later in Wilson, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
Linda Garrett
Garrett, Linda, 56, of Dade City, Florida, passed away Friday, August 18, 2006 at Pasco Regional Hospital. She was born February 14, 1950 the daughter of Arthur and Lena Thompson. She has lived in Florida the last 35 years. She was a geography teacher at Centennial Middle School and had taught at other Pasco schools. She is survived by her two daughters, Rebecca (Chris Colburn) Garrett of Tallahassee and Christie (Richard) Johnson of Atlanta, GA; her grandchildren, Gabriel and Brianna; her parents, Arthur and Lena Thompson of Ridge Manor; her siblings Joe Thompson, Concord NH, Mary Steele or Framingham, MA, Paula Sugars of Lebanon, Maine; David Thompson of Concord NH and John Thompson of Webster, Fl; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 am Wed., August 23, at St. Rita Catholic Church. The family received friends 6 to 8 pm Tuesday, August 22, at Hodges Family Funeral Home, 11441 Highway 301 Dade City. Burial followed the mass at Chapel Hill Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rita Catholic Church in her memory.
Madeline Strawsburg
Strawsburg, Madeline M., 91 years, of Zephyrhills, passed away Friday, August 18, 2006 at Heartland of Zephyrhills. She was born Feb. 12, 1915 in Westminster, Maryland the daughter of Ray and May Green. She has lived in Florida since 1969, moving from Maryland. She was member of Seventh Day Adventist Church, Wesley Chapel and was very active in the Plant City church. She started and was the president of Dollies Quilting Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold David Strawsburg in 1994. She is survived by her three daughters, Betty Reed of Altavista VA, Dorothy May McKinney of Manchester, MD and Ann Ecker of Grenta, VA; siblings Edith Ecker of California, Mildred Davis of Hanover, PA and Robert Green of Front Royal, VA; her 5 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and one great great grandson. Funeral services were 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at Hodges Family Funeral Home, 36327 Highway 54, Zephyrhills, Florida. The family received friends one hour prior to the service. Interment was in Oakside Cemetery.
