Chester E. Weise
Wiese, Chester E., 73, of Zephyrhills, FL, passed away Friday evening, August 18, 2006 at Pasco Regional Medical Center in Dade City. He was born October 6, 1932 in Indianapolis, IN, to Donald Wiese and Kathyrn Burkhardt. He was a retired Salesman and a member of the Atonement Lutheran Church. He was the Past Worshipful Master of the J.F. Swartsel Lodge # 251 in Lutz, the Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star Friendship Chapter # 209, Past President of the Crystal Lake Homeowner’s Association, a member of the Scottish Rite, the Egypt Shrine, the American Legion, and the Moose Lodge. He was preceded in death by 1 son: Kevin Wiese. He is survived by his wife: Ruth Wiese, Zephyrhills, FL; his daughter: Dawn & Ron Little, Jacksonville, FL; 2 grandsons: Ryan & Amy Little, Robert & Christie Little, both of Jacksonville, FL; 2 great grandchildren: Nicholas Little and Victoria Little. A memorial service was held 11am, Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at the Atonement Lutheran Church.
Lina A. Maul
Maul, Lina A., 91, of San Antonio, FL, passed away Sunday, August 20, 2006 at Pasco Regional Medical Center in Dade City. She was born October 9, 1914 in Germany and moved to the San Antonio area in 1935. She owned a citrus grove and was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. She is survived by her cousins: Margaret Williams, Lakeland, FL, Rose Kosater, Georgia, Joseph & Patricia Fuerst, Georgia, William & Rosemond Fuerst, Tennessee; her dear friend: Josephine Scholz, San Antonio, FL; and several nieces and nephews in Germany. Funeral Mass was held 10am Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at St. Anthony of Padua with Father Henry Riffle as celebrant. Burial followed at St. Anthony Cemetery. Friends called one hour prior to service time, from 9am -10am, at the church Wednesday morning.
Clayton Gaddis
Gaddis, Clayton, 74 of San Antonio left this life on August 16, 2006 while at his home. Mr. Gaddis and his beloved wife Bonnie came to Dade City in 1980 and opened the first coffee shop in what was then the new courthouse. Mr. Gaddis loved to play music and did so since the time he was only 12 years old and because he was born legally blind he considered his talent to be God given. Mr. Gaddis leaves behind one son Daryl Gaddis of Nine Grove, KY, a daughter Frankie Basil of Louisville, KY, three stepchildren, Linda (Richard) Dunn of Crawfordville, FL, Debra Hicks of Thonotosassa, FL, Troy (Melody) Hicks of Dallas, TX, four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, five step great grandchildren, and one step great-great grandchild. Mr. Gaddis will be missed by all who knew him. Visiting hours were held at Hodges Family Funeral Home (11441 U.S. Hwy 301) on Sunday, August 20, 2006 from 6-8 pm and funeral services held on August 21, 2006 at the funeral home at 11:00 am with internment following at Chapel Hill Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Eddie Coleman, Marvin Riley, Mike Worm, Donnie Collins, Tom Larsen, Tony Polodiro, and honorary pallbearers Richard Dunn, Ricky Dunn, and Erik Dunn.
Walter Kivett
Kivett, Walter, of Dade City, FL, passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2006 in Dade City. He was born February 4, 1923 in Middlesboro, KY, to Hubert Conley Kivett and Vernia Viola Seal. He was the owner and operator of Cumberland Electric Supply Inc. in Somerset, KY, and was a WW II Army Veteran. He was a radio operator and served under the 934th Fighter Squadron. He participated in Normandy, Central Europe, and Ardennes Campaign. He is survived by his wife: Virginia Branon Kivett, Dade City, FL; daughter: Linda & James E. Davis, Dade City, FL; son: Walter C. & Dee Ann Kivett, Greenville, SC; sister: Mary Francis Campbell, London, KY; brother-in-law: Holbert Hodges, London, KY, Jimmie McCall Branon, Wise, VA; grandchildren: Christine E. Davis, Michael B. Davis, Larry V. Davis, James W. & Gina M. Davis, Sarah Grace Kivett, Walter C. Kivett Jr; great grandchildren: Charlotte Davis and Lainey Gonzales; and many other nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews. Graveside services will be held 11:30 am, Saturday, August 19, 2006 at Floral Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 10am till service time at Hodges Family Funeral Home 301 Chapel.
Richard P. Badala
Badala, Richard P., 42, of Spring Hill, FL, passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at Bayonet Point Regional Medical Center. He was born March 12, 1964 in Oneida, NY. He was a man of personal childlike faith in Christ as his Savior. He is survived by his wife: Theresa Badala, Spring Hill, FL; his mother: Joyce & John Brooks, San Antonio, FL; his father: Richard & Theresa Chamberlain, Van etten, NY; 2 brothers: Rudolph & Cynthia Badala Jr, Stratham, NH, Derek & Julia Badala, Spring Hill, FL; his sister: Roxane Morse, Elmira, NY; his grandmother: Doris Lamoureux, San Antonio, FL; his constant companions: Doogan, Nikki, Sammi; and many other close aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Funeral services will be held 4pm Sunday, August 20, 2006 at Hodges Family Funeral Home 301 Chapel. Friends may call 2 hour prior to service time, from 2-4pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in his memory to the American Diabetes Association or for Juvenile Diabetes Research.

Jones, Lonzo, “Bubbie” “Zee”, 24, of Dade City, died Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at Pasco Regional Medical Center. He was a self-employed mechanic and was Methodist. Survivors include his parents, Leroy and Jeanie Jones of Dade City; two brothers, Kenneth Beams of St. Petersburg and Keith Beams of Dade City; three sisters, Geneva Henry and her husband, Matthew of West Palm Beach, Fla, and Cindy and Kathy Jones, both of Dade City; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the 301 Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home, 11441 US Hwy 301 from 6-8 p.m. on Friday (Today) August 18, 2006. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
John W. Hopkins
Hopkins, John W., 68 years of Land O Lakes, passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 2, 1938 in Pensacola, Florida the son of Riley and Annie Hopkins. He worked for Monsanto as a mechanic retiring after 37 years. He moved to the area 6 years ago from Pensacola. He was an avid golfer and loved his family. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Becky of the home; his daughter, Tammy Longen; his son-in-law, Steven Longen; his grandson, Ian Longen, all of Tampa; and his many golf buddies and friends. W. Ray Lowery
Lowery, W. “Ray”, 78, of Dade City, died Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Center in Dade City. A native of Coffee County, Alabama, he moved to Tampa in 1950 and to this area in 1983. He was a US Veteran of the Merchant Marines defending the Atlantic Coast during WWII. He was a retired millwright from Union Local 1000. Survivors include a daughter, Brenda L. Hulsizer of Sweetwater, TN; a son, Douglas R. Lowery and his wife, Tamela, of Dade City; a sister, Evelyn Williams of Dade City; seven grandchildren, Nikki Gold and her husband, Danny of Dade City, Brandi Lowery McCullum of Bedford, Texas, Kayci Lowery, Matthew Lowery, Wayne Friedel, Jr., Steven Friedel and his wife, Jeanetta, and Keith Williamson, all of Dade City; five grandchildren, Dalton Friedel and Nate Gold, and three other Gold Boys, all from Dade City; and Evelyn William’s children, Randalla Marie Lewis of Texas, Donnie Massey of Brooksville, Regina Lynn Pirzadeh of Sanford, Fla., and other family. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday August 18, 2006 from 5-7 p.m. at the 5th Street Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the 5th Street Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Walter Leo “Karl Von Stroheim” Nurnberg
Nurnberg, Walter Leo, Sr., 77, of Zephyrhills passed away Sunday, August 13, 2006 at his home. He was born October 15, 1928 in Perry Sound, Ontario, Canada. He lived in the US most of his life, moving to Florida in the early 1970’s. He was an Ex World Champion Professional Wrestler… He is a member of Zephyrhills First Church of the Nazarene and attended a Tuesday Prayer and Bible Study Group. He is preceded in death by his wife, Alice in 1990. He is survived by his only son, Walter Leo Nurnberg, Jr and his wife Denise; 2 grandsons, Trevin and Brennan, all of Zephyrhills; his mother Betty; his Brother, Charlie both of Bracebridge, Ontario Canada and cousins, George and Christine Mantler of Ingersol, Ontario, Canada. A Memorial Visitation will be from 3:00 – 4:00 PM, Thursday, August 17, 2006 at Hodges Family Funeral Home, 36327 State Route 54, Zephyrhills with a Memorial Service to follow at 4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the Nurnberg Family to help with the funeral expenses.
Verna L. Mitchell
Mitchell, Verna Lucille, 76, of Lacoochee left this life on August 12, 2006 while at her home. Mrs. Mitchell was born on May 4, 1930 to parents Velmer and Madie Moats in Lacoochee, Florida. Mrs. Mitchell was a life long resident of Lacoochee and was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Lacoochee for many years. She is reunited in heaven with her beloved husband Walter Lee and brother Paul Moats. She leaves behind a very saddened family, including her daughter Lauritha (Roger) Langel of Post Falls, Idaho, and two sons John (Theresa) Oliver of Live Oak, Florida and Garnett (Cindy) Oliver of Murfeesboro, TN. She also leaves behind five siblings Rudolph, Jerry, Nancy, Linda, and Anthony Moats, 8 loving grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew her. Services for Mrs. Mitchell will be held on August 17, 2006 with visitation hours from 1-2pm and a service beginning at 2:00pm at Hodges Family Funeral Home.
Margaret MacKillop
Margaret MacKillop, 84, of Denton, TX formerly of Dade City, died Sunday August 13, 2006 at Presbyterian Hospital of Denton. Mrs. MacKillop was born December 12, 1921 in Fairmont, WV to Walter Kenneth and Margaret (Millar) Barnes. She attended school at Florida State University. She served in the U. S. Navy, during World War II, as a Wave. She was a Volunteer in the First Navy Wave Unit in 1942 and was photographed for recruitment Posters. She was married to Victor J. MacKillop on August 1, 1952 in Dade City, FL (he died in Dec. 1979). She was a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Denton. She was a member of the Tampa Bay Waves Unit #55 in Tampa, Fla. She was the Secretary to the Principal at King High School in Tampa, Fla. for thirty-five years, and was also a Florist. A funeral service will be held at10:00 A.M. Thursday, August 17, 2006 at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 300 W. Oak St . Denton, TX. Rev. Stephen Plunkett will officiate the service. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton. Interment will be at the Dade City Cemetery, Dade City, FL. At 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 19, 2006. Survivors include her son, Walter MacKillop of Sanger, TX; and a daughter, Elizabeth Blackwood, of Nashville, TN. nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Virginia Patterson
Patterson, Virginia , 67, of Dade City, FL, passed away Sunday, August 13, 2006 at her home in Dade City. She was born January 7, 1939 in Dade City, and was a lifelong resident of the area. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She is survived by her husband of 49 years: Raymond “Pat” Patterson; 3 sons: James Patterson & Cindy, Alan Patterson & Colleen, Bobby Patterson & Carol; 2 daughters: Trisha Simmons & Ernie, Tina Cash; 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and numerous other close family and friends. Funeral services will be held 4pm Tuesday (today) at Hodges Family Funeral Home 5th Street Chapel. Friends may call 2 hours prior to service time, from 2-4pm at the funeral home.
