LAKE WALES -- Mr. B. Wilson Furr of Lake Wales died of complications of pneumonia Thursday (April 21, 2005) at home. He was 88.
Born in Crenshaw County, Ala., on Oct. 21, 1916, he came to Lake Wales from Beaumont, Pa., in 1952. He was a self-employed painting contractor for residential and commercial painting. He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served as a tank commander. He received two Bronze Stars, an Oak Leaf Cluster and a Purple Heart. He was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of the Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church.
Mr. Furr is survived by his wife, Jeanne Furr; daughters, Mary Jeanne West, Astor, Sally Windmon, Winter Haven; brothers, Owen Furr, Luverne, Ala., Athens Furr, Keystone Heights; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at the Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church in Lake Wales. Burial will be in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.

SPRING HILL -- Mrs. Carol Sue Renner of Spring Hill, who has family in Polk County, died Saturday (July 15, 2006) at home. The cause of death is pending autopsy results. She was 60.
Born Jan. 17, 1946, in Grand Rapids, Mich., Mrs. Renner moved to Spring Hill from Muskegon, Mich. 11 years ago. She was an entertainer in local theater.
Mrs. Renner is survived by her husband, Lyle A. Renner; daughter, Laura Hatch, Lakeland; sons, David Bowden, Orlando, Rod Bowden, Riverview; stepdaughters, Carolyn Sicking, Bradenton, Barbara Renner, Kalamazoo, Mich.; sisters, Sally Bowman, Elkhart, Ind., Lois Jensen, Greenville, Mich.; brothers, William Smith, Rockford, Mich., Joel Smith, Ada, Mich., Patrick Smith, Sparta, Mich.; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
Services will be at noon Thursday at Lanier Funeral Home Chapel.

POLK CITY -- Mrs. Florence E. Colbert of Polk City died of cancer April 16, 2005, at home. She was 68.
Born in Toms River, N.J., on Feb. 13, 1937, Mrs. Colbert came to Polk City from there 35 years ago. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Colbert is survived by her husband, Carl C. Colbert; sisters, Mary Emmer, New Jersey; brothers, John W. Brahn, New Jersey, Alvin W. Brahn, Florida; daughters, Elizabeth R. Milliren, Kathleen D. SEBRING -- Mr. William Douglas Chambers of Sebring died Tuesday (April 19, 2005) in Fort Ogden. He was 19.
Born in Lakeland on Dec. 31, 1985, Mr. Chambers was a lifelong resident of the area. He was a truck driver for Steerhead Hauling.
Mr. Chambers is survived by his father, Roy Chambers, Lake Wales; mother, Susan Croy, Sebring; brothers, Roy Chambers Jr., Josh Beasley, both of Bartow, Mike Beasley, Sebring; sisters, Nicky John, Karrie Dudek, both of Sebring.
Services will be at 2:45 this afternoon at Fort Green Baptist Church Cemetery.

ZEPHYRHILLS -- Mrs. Gladys L. Browning of Zephyrhills, who has family in Polk County and Plant City, died of heart failure Friday (April 22, 2005) at Heartland of Zephyrhills. She was 90.
Born in Laurens, Ga., on May 28, 1914, Mrs. Browning moved to Zephyrhills from Tampa one month ago. She was a homemaker. She was a Baptist.
Mrs. Browning is survived by her sons, Robert Browning, Mulberry, Buddy Browning, Plant City; brother, Ander Evans, Plant City; sister, Minnie Brooks, Plant City; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Seigler Funeral Home, Highway 60 E., Mulberry. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home chapel.

LAKELAND -- Mr. Joe "Papa" Anderson of Lakeland died of heart failure Thursday (April 21, 2005) at home. He was 72.
Born in Hattiesburg, Miss., on March 20, 1933, Mr. Anderson came to Lakeland from Miami in 1979. He worked for Shepherd's Fold Ministry. He sang with the Regal Quartet in Lakeland.
Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife, Daisy Anderson; daughters, Roberta Weissman, Tampa, Jody Saenz, Miami, Cynthia Polston, Lake Wales, Charlotte Colacino, Palm City; sons, George Price, Anthony Price, both of Lakeland; brother, Robert Anderson, Clearwater; sister, Wanda Swendson, Tarpon Springs; 24 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

WINTER HAVEN -- Mrs. Emma Irene Shoemaker of Winter Haven died of complications of dementia Wednesday (April 20, 2005) at Good Shepherd Hospice. She was 90.
Born in Birdsville, Pa., on June 8, 1914, she came to Winter Haven from Bath, N.Y., last year. She was the owner and operator of Credit Collection Bureau. She was a Methodist.
Mrs. Shoemaker was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Shoemaker. She is survived by her daughter, Roberta Shoemaker Anderson, Colorado Springs, Colo., and two grandchildren.
Services will be held on Monday in Bath, N.Y.
