LAKE ALFRED -- Mr. David Nathaniel Neal of Lake Alfred died of a heart attack May 5, 2005, at Tandem at Winter Haven. He was 73.
Born in Concorde, Ga., on June 19, 1931, he came to Lake Alfred from Auburndale 55 years ago. He was a retired diesel mechanic for Haines City Citrus Exchange. He was a Methodist.
Mr. Neal is survived by his wife, Ernestine Neal; daughters, Linda Johnson, Connie Wilson, both of Auburndale, Cynthia Neal, Winter Haven, Blondie Cody, Tavares; sons, Wayne Neal, Willie Earl Neal, Derrick Neal, all of Lake Alfred, David Neal, Winter Haven, Ernest Neal Sr., Ocala, Karl Neal, Lakeland; sisters, Fannie Maultsby, Lake Alfred, Lillie Collins, Philadelphia; 33 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 this evening at Alexander Funeral Home, 620 Ave. T N.E., Winter Haven. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethel Baptist Church, 640 Midway Ave., Lake Alfred. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Lake Alfred.

LAKE WALES -- Mr. Jimmy Lee Parker of Lake Wales died of heart failure Sunday (May 8, 2005) at home. He was 51.
Born in Winter Haven on May 27, 1953, he was a longtime resident of Lake Wales. He was a tile setter. He was a Baptist.
Mr. Parker is survived by his daughter, Natasha Parker, Winter Haven; son, Jason Parker, Winter Haven; sister, Etta Bunting, Lakeland; brother, Glenn Parker, Winter Haven, Jerry Parker, Lake Alfred.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Lakeside Memorial Gardens in Winter Haven.

WINTER HAVEN -- Mrs. Lorraine Dinks of Winter Haven died of breast cancer Friday (May 6, 2005) at Tandem Health Care. She was 73.
Born in Loughman on April 16, 1932, she was a lifelong resident of the area. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Dan Larimore Lodge. She was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church and on the Pastor Aide Board.
Mrs. Dinks is survived by her daughter, Carol Bradley, Winter Haven; sisters, Sarah Graham, Lake Alfred, Minnie Mae Christie, Winter Haven; two grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at First Missionary Baptist Church in Winter Haven. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

MARY HILL, 84
Elementary School Teacher
LAKELAND -- Mrs. Mary Ann Hill of Lakeland died of cancer Sunday (May 8, 2005) at Florida Presbyterian Homes. She was 84.
Born in Columbus, Ohio, on Oct. 14, 1920, she came to Lake Alfred from Wooster, Ohio, in 1982. She was an elementary school teacher. She was a Navy WAVES veteran of World War II. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Chapter Ch and PEO. She was active at Hope Presbyterian Church in Winter Haven and a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Hill is survived by her husband, Lewis T. Hill; son, Lorin F. Hill, Massillon, Ohio; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Florida Presbyterian Homes chapel.

Melissa Galomb, 51, Homemaker
AUBURNDALE -- After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 1996, Mrs. Melissa Lynne Galomb became a strong advocate of breast cancer awareness and a pillar of support for other women in the community who also have the disease.
"Everybody called my mom for advice and my mom is like `It is in the Lord's power. That is what it is all about, ' " her daughter, Tasha "T.J." White of Auburndale, said.
"She walked in the walk-athon (for breast cancer) in Auburndale for at least four years. Even when she couldn't walk, she was still there."
The homemaker died of breast cancer Wednesday (April 20, 2005) at home. She was 51.
Born in Oakland, Calif., on Sept. 27, 1953, Mrs. Galomb came to Auburndale from California when she was 6 months old. She graduated from Auburndale High School.
Mrs. Galomb, a homemaker for much of her life, enjoyed traveling, particularly to New York City.
"My mom would get chemo on Wednesday and go to New York City on Friday, " White said. "Her and my stepdad traveled to Russia, but New York City was the big thing. They went on cruises. She did a lot right up until the very end."
Mrs. Galomb raised her granddaughter, Kendall, following the death of her daughter-in-law in 2002.
She served as past president of the Junior Women's Club in Auburndale. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Winter Haven.
In addition to her daughter, Tasha White, Mrs. Galomb is survived by her husband of 19 years, Gerald "Jerry" Galomb; mother, Peggy L. Williamson, Auburndale; sons, Derrick Welch, Auburndale, Timothy Galomb, Apopka, Brian Galomb, Lakeland; brothers, W.H. "Bill" Williamson III, Winter Haven, James Craig Williamson, Auburndale; three grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Kersey Funeral Home, 108 E. Lake Stella Drive, Auburndale. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Grace Lutheran Church in Winter Haven.
STEVEN PICKETT, 50

LAKELAND -- Mr. Steven Charles Pickett of Lakeland died of injuries sustained in an auto accident Monday (April 25, 2005) at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. He was 50.
Born in Callahan on March 31, 1955, he came to Lakeland from there 10 years ago. He was director of Friends Together, an HIV and AIDS advocacy organization. He was formerly a Boy Scout leader and a Big Brother. He was a member of the Lions Club in Callahan. He was head buyer at Mosaic Wingate Mine in Duette. He was a member of Trinity Congregational Church in Winter Haven.
Mr. Pickett is survived by his wife, Cathy Robinson Pickett; daughter, Lyndsy Robinson, Lakeland; son, Garrett Robinson, Lakeland; mother, Lorraine Pickett, Callahan; sisters, Donna Yancey, Callahan, Patty Jones, Yulle, Peggy Ann Wilson, Fernandina Beach; brothers, Charles Pickett, John Borst, both of Callahan.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Heath Funeral Chapel. Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Congregational Church.
