PLANT CITY -- Mr. Howard H. Ludwig of Plant City died of lung disease Sunday (April 24, 2005) in Plant City. He was 89.
Born in Pittsburgh on Feb. 17, 1916, he came to Plant City from Jackson, Mich., 22 years ago. He was a sales manager in steel manufacturing. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a past master of the Lodge No. 257 F & AM, and a member of the Syria Shrine in Pittsburgh.
Mr. Ludwig is survived by his wife, Madonna Ludwig; sons, James Ludwig, Lansing, Mich., John Ludwig, Otisville, Mich.; sister, Margaret O'Neill, Pittsburgh; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the clubhouse at Country Wood in Plant City.

JOSEPH MAJOR, 35

WAVERLY -- Mr. Joseph Major of Waverly died of pneumonia Tuesday (April 26, 2005) at Winter Haven Hospital. He was 35.
Born in Miami on July 22, 1969, he came to Waverly from there more than two years ago. He was a construction worker.
Mr. Major is survived by his brother, Lennard B. Major, Miami.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Epps Mortuary, Lake Wales. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the mortuary.
PAUL McCLANAHAN, 90
Minister, Educator
LAKELAND -- Mr. Paul Haldane McClanahan of Lakeland died of congestive heart failure Monday (April 25, 2005) at Florida Presbyterian Homes in Lakeland. He was 90.
He was born in Fayoum, Egypt, on May 24, 1914. He was a minister, educator, and college administrator. He was a retired religion and ethics professor from Monmouth College in Monmouth, Ill. He graduated from Wooster College with a degree in English literature. He was an ordained minister at Union Seminary in New York City. He was appointed the presidency of Assiut College in Assiut, Egypt. He was a choir director and choir member.
Mr. McClanahan is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ruth, and children, Neal, Paul, Alice and David.
Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Glen More Chapel at Florida Presbyterian Homes, 16 Lake Hunter Drive, Lakeland.

BARTOW -- Mr. Robert Lee Myrick of Bartow died of heart failure Tuesday (April 19, 2005) at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. He was 51.
Born in Bartow on Oct. 23, 1953, he was a lifelong resident. He was a member of Greater Providence Progressive Missionary Baptist Church in Bartow.
Mr. Myrick is survived by his mother, Willie Bell Myrick, Bartow; brothers, George Myrick Jr., Clarence Myrick, Gates, N.C.; sisters, Emma Greene, Brenda Thornton, both of Bartow, Tangene Sirmon, Polk City.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Gause Funeral Home, 625 S. Holland Parkway, Bartow. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Greater Providence Progressive Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Bartow.

LAKE PLACID -- Ms. Tina Rudolph of Lake Placid died of injuries sustained in an auto accident April 21, 2005, in Lake Placid. She was 27.
She was born in Avon Park on Jan. 16, 1978. She was a cashier at McDonald's. She was a member of New Grace Church of God by Faith.
Ms. Rudolph is survived by her mother, Mary Lee, Lake Placid; sons, Jquonne Banks, Troyvontae Bolion, both of Lake Placid; sister, Tashonda Campbell, Lake Placid; brother, Ezekial Jordan, Lakeland.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at New Grace Church of God by Faith. Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Action Revival Center in Lake Placid.

DUNDEE -- Mrs. Elaine Seel of Dundee died of heart failure Monday (April 25, 2005) in Dundee. She was 64.
Born in Bairdstown, Ohio, on Nov. 17, 1940, she came to Dundee from Kissimmee six years ago. She worked for Airfoil Textron in Fostoria, Ohio, for 29 years. She also managed Windsor Mobile Home Park in Kissimmee for five years and Dell Lake Village for five years. She was a member of Evangelical United Brethren Church in Blairstown, Ohio.
Mrs. Seel is survived by her husband, Daniel Seel; sons, Nick Hartman, Amsden, Ohio, Darryl Hartman, Wildwood, David Bruce Hartman, Sycamore, Ohio, Jeffrey Hartman, Fort Myers; stepson, Randy Seel, Jacksonville; stepdaughters, Barbara Orozco, Kissimmee, Christine Cole, Fostoria, Ohio, Sandra Witten, Morganfield, Ky.; brother, David Dominique, Manistique, Mich.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; 13 step grandchildren; 12 stepgreat grandchildren.

BARTOW -- Mr. Arthur R. Smith of Bartow died of cancer Tuesday (April 26, 2005) at Good Shepherd Hospice Residential Center in Auburndale. He was 76.
Born in Union City, Pa., on Nov. 23, 1928, he came to Bartow from Oberschleichach, Germany, 14 years ago. He was a retired sergeant first class in the Army of 26 years, and an Army Corps of Engineers veteran of the Korean War and Vietnam War. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Bartow.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife, Annette Smith. He is survived by his daughter, Bernadette E. Adams, Bartow; brothers, Paul Smith, Union City, Pa., Charles Smith, Erie, Pa.; sister, Ethel Wojtecki, Union City, Pa.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 this evening at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, 650 E. Main St., Bartow. Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Bartow.

LAKE WALES -- Mr. Willie J. Thomas of Lake Wales died of heart failure Tuesday (April 26, 2005) at Lake Wales Medical Center. He was 80.
Born in Montgomery, Ala., on July 14, 1924, he came to Lake Wales from Tampa 50 years ago. He was a landscaper. He was a past member of First Missionary Baptist Church.
Mr. Thomas is survived by his wife, Barbara L. Thomas; sons, Willie J. Thomas Jr., Winter Haven, Richard Thomas, Birmingham, Ala.; sister, Minnie Gay, Grand Rapids, Mich.; brother, Johnny Thomas, Lake Wales; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
