LAKE WALES -- Ms. Isabelle Tucker of Lake Wales died of leukemia Sunday (April 24, 2005) in Lake Wales. She was 83.
Born in Dodsonville, Ohio, on Sept. 11, 1921, she came to Lake Wales from Lawrenceville, Ga., in 1998. She was a homemaker. She was a member of First Christian Church of Frostproof.
Ms. Tucker is survived by her brother, Albert Fidler, Lake Wales; sisters, Edna Newbrey, Lake Wales, Dorothy Burnsids, Lebanon, Ohio.

Lydia Hoit, 92, Florida Power Corp.
LAKE WALES -- Up until a few weeks ago, Mrs. Lydia M. Hoit, a receptionist for Marion Nelson Funeral Home of Lake Wales, led an active life, entertaining friends and often frequenting Al's Place for dinner and dancing with her friends on Friday nights.
"She made everybody around her happy, " said a longtime, close friend, Ann Moore of Lake Wales. "She was a happy person and that is why she had so many friends. She loved to dance. She could still jitterbug."
Mrs. Hoit died of complications following a stroke Monday (April 25, 2005) at home. She was 92.
Born in Concord, N.H., on March 4, 1913, she married Therle F. Hoit on Aug. 28, 1948.
Mrs. Hoit came to Lake Wales from Concord in 1952, and worked for Florida Power Corp. from 1958 to 1976, retiring as a customer service supervisor. Following the death of her husband in 1979, she worked for the Lake Wales Amphitheatre, where she was a clerk for 18 years.
During that time, Mrs. Hoit was unofficially named the godmother of a newborn camel named "Lydia." The mother camel was brought here for the Black Hills Passion Play, and the baby camel was her namesake.
Mrs. Hoit worked for Marion Nelson Funeral Home for the past six years.
She was described as an upbeat lady who was a cat lover. "Her cat was named "Baby." She loved that cat, " Moore said. "She was thrilled with anybody who loved her -- she just loved them twice as much."
She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post No. 2420 in Lake Wales and Lake Wales Elks Lodge No. 1976. She was an election poll worker for many years. She was a member of the Mardi Gras Crew Les Jollies Dames. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
She is survived by her nephew, Albert Brochu, Pennacook, N.H.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 this evening with a Rosary recited at 6:30 p.m. at Marion Nelson Funeral Home of Lake Wales. Mass of the Resurrection will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Lake Wales Cemetery.

INDIAN LAKE ESTATES -- Mr. Frederick Thomas Farnsworth of Indian Lake Estates died of cancer Sunday (April 24, 2005) at the Lake Wales Medical Center. He was 88.
Born in Williamsville, Va., on Dec. 28, 1916, he came to Indian Lake Estates from Falls Church, Va., 23 years ago. He was the retired owner of the former Alexandria Seafood and Poultry Co. in Alexandria, Va. He was a Coast Guard veteran of World War II, serving as a chief petty officer and participating in the battle of Iwo Jima. He was a life member and past president of the Country Club of Fairfax, Va. He served as the chair of the maintenance committee of Indian Lake Estates Country Club. He was active in the Men's Golf Association and the Key Club of Indian Lake Estates. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the Indian Lake United Methodist Church.
Mr. Farnsworth was preceded in death by his wife, Caroline Clarke Farnsworth. He is survived by his wife, Josie Massey Farnsworth; daughters, Judith Anne Bornholdt, Bonita, Calif., Linda Ellen Farnsworth, Arlington, Va.; stepdaughter, Angela Durrence, Richmond Hill, Ga.; two granddaughters; two step grandchildren; one stepgreat-granddaughter.
Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Friday at the Indian Lake United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Union Chapel Cemetery in Hot Springs, Va.

LAKE WALES -- Mrs. Ellen L. Wambold of Lake Wales died of cancer Sunday (April 24, 2005) at home. She was 74.
Born in Springfield, Pa., on Sept. 5, 1930, she came to Lake Wales from Manahawkin, N.J., three years ago. She and her husband owned and operated Howard Wambold Wall and Floor Covering in Manahawkin. She was a member of the Non Smoking Singles Group in Lake Wales. She was a member of the Lake Wales Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Wambold was preceded in death by her husband, Howard M. Wambold. She is survived by her daughters, Jill Louise Grant, Winter Haven, Linda Ann Bergamini, Sapphire, N.C.; sons, Dennis James Wambold, Barnegat, N.J., Kevin David Wambold, Bullhead City, Ariz.; sister, Mildred Naydyhor, Quakertown, Pa; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Johnson Funeral Home chapel, Lake Wales.

LAKE WALES -- Mr. Jack Frank of Lake Wales died of lung cancer Sunday (April 24, 2005) in Lake Wales. He was 63.
Born on Sept. 23, 1941, he came to Lake Wales from Haines City 16 years ago. He was a self-employed carpenter. He was an Army veteran. He was a member of the Boater's World in the Captain's Club.
Mr. Frank is survived by his daughters, Melissa Boone, Haines City, Diane Mehrlich, Kissimmee; brothers, Allen Frank, South Haven, Mich., Richard Frank, Shelbyville, Mich., Dale Frank, Decator, Mich.; four grandchildren.

WINTER HAVEN -- Mrs. Daisy Mae Foster of Winter Haven died of an aneurysm Saturday (April 23, 2005) at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, Ala. She was 67.
Born in Glen St. Mary on May 27, 1937, she came to Winter Haven from Macclenny in 1954. She was head cashier for Wal-Mart. She was a member of Lake Garfield Baptist Church in Bartow.
Mrs. Foster was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Ray Foster Sr. She is survived by her sons, Bobby Ray Foster Jr., Winter Haven, Steve Foster, Lake Wales, John T. "J.T." Foster, Cocoa Beach; daughters, JoAnn Smith, Dorothy Maltos, both of Winter Haven; sisters, Pearl Wattles, Idaho, Lilly Sweetman, Tampa, Witta Rowe, Macclenny; brothers, Escoe Starling, Leslie Starling, both of Macclenny; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home, Winter Haven. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery.

POLK CITY -- Miss Chelsi Jean Gregory of Polk City died of injuries sustained in an auto accident Sunday (April 24, 2005) in Winter Haven. She was 17.
Born in Lakeland on Sept. 10, 1987, she was a lifelong resident. She was a student at Families of Faith and treasurer of FFA. She was a member of Freewill Baptist Church in Lakeland.
Miss Gregory is survived by her mother, Jeana Fussell Gregory, Polk City; father, Johnny B. Gregory, Lakeland; sisters, Chrissy L. Gregory, Lexington, Ky., Lyndsi L. Gregory, Polk City; stepsisters, Jasmine Razabdouski, and Lindsey R. McManus, both of Lakeland; stepbrother, Blake Allen McManus, Lakeland; maternal grandmother, Patsy Scott, Polk City; maternal grandfather, Paul Fussell, Polk City; maternal great-grandfather, Harris Fussell, Polk City; paternal grandmother, Louise Lynch, Portland, Tenn.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Kersey Funeral Home, Auburndale. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Mount Olive Baptist Church Cemetery, Polk City. A luncheon will follow the service at Mount Olive Baptist Church.
