DAVENPORT -- Mrs. Gladys Naomi Drayer of Davenport died of heart failure Wednesday (Aug. 24, 2005) in Davenport. She was 92.
Born in Junita, Pa., on May 29, 1913, Mrs. Drayer came to Davenport from Pennsylvania 30 years ago. She was a home sales agent for Stanley Products. She was a member of Four Corners Baptist Church in Davenport.
Mrs. Drayer is survived by her husband, Lee Drayer; sons, Dennis Drayer, Beaver Creek, Ohio, Gary Drayer, Soudersport, Pa.; daughter, Cheryl Wareham, Deltona; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4, at Four Corners Baptist Church, Dunson Road, Davenport.

LAKE WALES -- Mr. John J. Montgomery of Lake Wales died Saturday (Aug. 20, 2005) from injuries suffered in a car accident. He was 48.
Born June 16, 1957, in Kearny, N.J., he moved to Lake Wales from New Jersey. He was a contractor.
He is survived by his sister, Alison Montgomery, Rockaway Township, N.J.
Services will be held later in Rockaway, N.J.

LAKELAND -- Ms. Julia Anne Keeney of Lakeland died of pneumonia Thursday (Aug. 18, 2005). She was 57.
Born March 3, 1948, in Detroit, Mich., Ms. Keeney moved to Lakeland from Fort Lauderdale in 2001. She was a homemaker. She attended St. Anthony's Catholic Church.
Ms. Keeney is survived by her daughters, Lisa Pinson, Lakeland, Laura Olson, Newbern, N.C., and Julianne Williams, Perrysburg, Ohio; brother, Joseph Keeney, Monroe, Conn.; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

LAKELAND -- Mrs. Barbara Borsch of Lakeland died of cancer Thursday (Aug. 18, 2005) at home. She was 69.
She was born Oct. 1, 1935, in Elkhart, Ind., and moved to Lakeland from South Bend, Ind., in 1986. She worked for Sam Rogers Mgt. Co.
Mrs. Borsch is survived by her sons, Kevin Borsch, South Bend, Ind., and Calvin Borsch, Lakeland, and three grandchildren.
A reception will be held Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. at the family home, 1400 Banana Road, Lakeland.

FORT LAUDERDALE -- Mrs. Arlene Elizabeth Prankas of Fort Lauderdale died of respiratory failure Tuesday (Aug. 16, 2005) in Fort Lauderdale. She was 92.
She was born Feb. 8, 1913, in Duluth, Minn., and moved to Winter Haven in 1997, but recently returned to Fort Lauderdale. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Prankas is survived by her sons, Keith J. Paulson, Wilton Manors, Dennis G. Paulson, Winter Haven, and Gregory Paulson, Fort Lauderdale; sister, Evelyn O'Connell, Duluth, Minn.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

AUBURNDALE -- Mrs. Margaret June Winter of Winter Haven died of kidney failure Sunday (Aug. 14, 2005) at Good Shepherd Hospice, Auburndale. She was 84.
Born June 10, 1921, in Midland, Mich., she came here from West Palm Beach 30 years ago. She was a real estate broker. She was a volunteer at Winter Haven Hospital. She was member of the Winter Haven Bridge Club and Tri Delta Sorority. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Winter Haven.
Mrs. Winter is survived by her son John Jay Winter, Mishawaka, Ind.; brother, Dr. William E. Laur, Amarillo, Texas; and four grandchildren.

ELIE MICKLES JR., 68

WINTER HAVEN -- Mr. Elie Mickles Jr. of Winter Haven died of a bloodstream infection Thursday (Aug. 25, 2005) at Winter Haven Hospital. He was 68.
Born in Greenville, Ala., on Aug. 25, 1937, he came to Winter Haven from Lake Wales 30 years ago. He was a custodian at Florida Natural Growers in Lake Wales. He was a Pentecostal.
Mr. Mickles is survived by his caretakers, Christine and Glendale Brown, both of Winter Haven.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Alexander Funeral Home, 620 Ave. T. N.E., Winter Haven. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Rolling Hills Cemetery.
P. Robert Eup, 83, Building Contractor
LAKE WALES -- Mr. P. Robert Pete Eup served aboard the USS West Virginia during the attack on Pearl Harbor and carried emotional memories of that day with him for the rest of his life.
"We watched the movie every Dec. 7th and he would cry and say "This is when I carried this buddy out, or this is when I carried out this buddy . . ., " said his daughter, Phyllis Jo McCullough of Brownsburg, Ind.
Mr. Eup, a retired building contractor, died of congestive heart failure Monday (Sept. 5, 2005) at Lake Wales Medical Center. He was 83.
Born in Mecca, Ind., on March 21, 1922, he worked in construction throughout his career, working primarily in commercial construction for John Elfox Contractors in Indianapolis. He also had his own residential construction business, PV Construction.
Following his retirement, Mr. Eup came to Lake Wales from Indianapolis. He was an avid golfer and a member of Indian Lakes Golf Club.
"Golf was his life, " Phyllis McCullough said, and she described her father as a man with a very colorful personality. "The honors of his life were the organizations that he belonged to as well as the U.S. Navy. That meant the whole world to him."
Mr. Eup was a member of the American Legion and Loyal Order of the Moose in Martinsville, Ind. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and belonged to the Bridgeport, Ind., Lodge, No. 162. He was a member of the Scottish Rite and Shrine temples. He was a Protestant.
Mr. Eup was preceded in death five years ago by his wife of 30 years, Vivian B. Eup. In addition to his daughter Phyllis Jo McCullough, he is survived by his daughter, Margo Ann Sakaley, Seattle, Wash.; son, Robert W. Eup, Indianapolis; stepsons, Alan E. Phillips and Dane R. Phillips, both of Indianapolis; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel, Lake Wales. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home chapel. Burial with military honors will follow in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
