WINTER HAVEN -- Mrs. Elsie G. Yontz of Winter Haven died of heart failure Wednesday (Aug. 17, 2005) at home. She was 85.
She was born Jan. 30, 1920, in Hagerstown, Md., and came here from St. Petersburg two years ago. She was a homemaker and retired from United Airlines, the Post Office and the Health Department in St. Petersburg. She was a Baptist.
Mrs. Yontz was preceded in death by her husband, George Kenneth Yontz. She is survived by her sons, Donald W. Yontz, Winter Haven, and Kenneth M. Yontz, Winter Park, and two granddaughters.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Steele's Family Funeral Services Chapel. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home chapel.

WINTER HAVEN -- Mrs. Muriel Ruth "Susie" Nyberg of Winter Haven died from complications of dementia Tuesday (Aug. 16, 2005) at Wedgewood of Winter Haven. She was 80.
She was born Jan. 3, 1925, in Swampscott, Mass., and came to Winter Haven from Lake Worth in 1997. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Nyberg was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest W. Nyberg. She is survived by her son, Paul Nyberg, Garden City, Ga.; daughter, Dr. Carol Ruckman, Lufkin, Texas; brother, Charles Warnock, Delta, Colo.; sisters, Lillith Weiskel, Nahant, Mass., Lorraine Pergrande, Winter Haven; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church.
THELMA LORD, 91
AUBURNDALE -- Mrs. Thelma Rosamond Lord of Auburndale died Wednesday (Aug. 17, 2005) at Winter Haven Hospital of complications from Alzheimer's disease. She was 91.
She was born in Greenfield, Mass., and moved to this area in 1957. She was a member of the Old Timers Breakfast Club in Auburndale. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Auburndale and a member of the Women's Society at the church.
Mrs. Lord was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Lord. She is survived by her sons, Robert H. Lord, Wilmington, N.C.; Richard J. Lord, Summerville, S.C., and the Rev. David A. Lord, Knoxville, Tenn.; adopted son, Dr. Henry Haire, Harvey, La.; daughter, Jean A. Shiver, Auburndale; 20 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. with a funeral service at 11 a.m. at Kersey Funeral Home, Auburndale.
BEATRICE KAROLISHYN, 90

LAKELAND -- Mrs. Beatrice Mary Karolishyn of Lakeland died of complications from Alzheimer's disease Monday (Aug. 17, 2005) in Lakeland. She was 90.
She was born Dec. 28, 1914, in Dover, England, and came to Lakeland from Orlando in 1974. She was a member of many square-dancing clubs. She was a dental hygienist with the U.S. government.
Mrs. Karolishyn is survived by her husband, Metro Karolishyn; sons, James A. Osmond, South Hampton, England, and Julian R. Osmond, Stockport, England; three grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

BARTOW -- Mr. Virgil A. Harrison of Bartow died of heart failure Tuesday (Aug. 16, 2005) at Bartow Center. He was 83.
He was born on Sept. 22, 1921, in Sioux Falls, S.D., and moved to Bartow one year ago from Plant City. He was a mechanic. He was a Navy veteran and served during World War II.

LAKE WALES -- Mrs. Helen Taylor Grant of Lake Wales died Friday (Aug. 12, 2005) of cancer. She was 79.
She was born in Fredericton, New Brunswick. She was an active Elkette at Elks Lodge 1974 in Lake Wales.
Mrs. Grant is survived by her husband, Douglas A. Grant, Lake Wales; son Kirk, Dallas, Texas; and daughter, Donna, Fort Lauderdale.
A memorial service will be held later at Elks Lodge 1974.
JAMES DEADWILEY, 83

LAKELAND -- Mr. James Deadwiley of Lakeland died Monday (Aug. 15, 2005) at Good Shepherd Hospice Center. The cause of death is pending investigation by a medical examiner. He was 83.
He was born March 24, 1922, in Madison, and came here from Bradenton 15 years ago. He was a wastewater management supervisor with the city of Bradenton. He attended Washington Park High School in Lakeland. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church.
Mr. Deadwiley is survived by his daughters, Marian Deadwiley, Tallahasse, and Cierra Brown, Lakeland; brother, Willie Charles Deadwiley, Lakeland; and one grandchild.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the H.W. Oldham Funeral Home. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Lakeland. Burial will follow at Florida National Cemetery.

LAKELAND -- Mr. Wayne G. Daly of Lakeland died of cancer Tuesday (Aug.16, 2005). He was 69.
He was born March 6, 1936, in St. Charles, Mich. He was a die maker for General Motors. He was a Protestant.
Mr. Daly is survived by his wife, Karen Daly; son, Dennis Daly; daughter, Deborah Daly, Pleasanton, Calif.; and one grandchild.
Memorial services will be at 10:45 a.m. Friday at Carpenter's Home Manor.

LAKELAND -- Mrs. Bettie Jane Bell of Lakeland died July 31, 2005, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center after suffering a stroke. She was 72.
She was born Feb. 2, 1933, in Carbondale, Ill., and came here from Tallahassee eight years ago. She was a registered nurse.
Mrs. Bell was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Frederick W. Bell. She is survived by her son, John Bell, Miami; daughter, Kathleen Bell, Jacksonville; and two grandchildren.
