SAVANNAH, Tenn. -- Mrs. H. Zubie Dell Willoughby Harrison of Savannah, Tenn., who has family in Lakeland, died of heart failure Sunday (Aug. 22, 2004) at Hardin County Nursing Home in Savannah. She was 75.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of Mount Hermon Baptist Church.
Mrs. Harrison is survived by her husband, Hardin Page Harrison; daughter, Linda Dell Reeves, Lakeland; son, Eddie Paige Harrison, Savannah; sisters, Peggy Land, Savannah, Patsy McCullar, Batesville, Miss., Betty Rowen, Orlando; brother, Edwin Lee Willoughby, Savannah; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Mount Hermon Baptist Church in Savannah. Burial will be in Mount Hermon Cemetery, Hardin County, Tenn.

CYNTHIA NORRIS, 70

LAKELAND -- Mrs. Cynthia "Cinny" Earnshaw Norris of Lakeland died of a bloodstream infection Monday (Aug. 23, 2004) at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center. She was 70.
Born in Columbus, Ohio, on May 12, 1934, she came to Lakeland from Pompano Beach in 1958. She was a homemaker, and a Wal-Mart greeter. She was a Campfire leader and den mother. She was Pink Lady and a member of the Junior Women's Club, the Garden Club, the ZEF Club, and of the Sip-NStitch Club. She was a member of St. David's Episcopal Church in Lakeland.
Mrs. Norris is survived by her daughters, Jill Hutton, Linda Newbolt, both of Lakeland; son, Scott Norris, Lakeland; sister, Suzanne Moesly, Cocoa; 10 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at St. David's Episcopal Church, 145 E. Edgewood Drive, Lakeland. Services will be at 4 p.m. Friday at the church.

LAKE WALES -- Mr. Francis Ernest Jr. of Lake Wales died of heart failure Sunday (Aug. 22, 2004) at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. He was 61.
Born on April 8, 1943, he came to Lake Wales from Dundee six years ago. He was a driver for MTI Transportation. He was a Navy veteran.
Mr. Ernest is survived by his wife, Sue Ernest; daughter, Donelle Ernest, Fort Myers; stepchildren, Harry Sension, Tina Sension, Iowa, Jackie Brown, Tampa; brother, David Gebhart, Phoenix; five grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 this evening at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home, Winter Haven.
ROBERT ROMEO, 21
LAKELAND -- Mr. Robert Lee Romeo of Lakeland died Sunday (Aug. 22, 2004) at home. He was 21.
Born in Lakeland on July 16, 1983, he was a lifelong resident.
Mr. Romeo is survived by his mother, Violet I. Romeo, Lakeland; fiancee, Tanya A. Grable, Lakeland; brothers, Edward A. Romeo, Douglas B. Romeo, both of Lakeland; sister, Lynette I. Upshaw; maternal grandparents, Liz and Roy Reed, New Mexico and Lakeland.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Lakeland Funeral Home.
John Stager, 77, General Motors
LAKELAND -- After his retirement from General Motors, Mr. John Arthur Stager spent the last couple of years delivering cars for Lakeland Auto Mall.
"He just loved taking somebody their new car. He enjoyed seeing the look on their face when they got their new car, " his daughter, Diane Wilson of Lakeland, said, describing her father as an outgoing man who never met a stranger and was always the life of the party.
The retired senior claims adjuster died of cancer Monday (July 12, 2004) at Good Shepherd Hospice. He was 77.
Born in Omaha, Neb., on May 31, 1927, he was one of six children. He grew up in Ada, Ohio, where he graduated from high school.
He served in the Navy and was a veteran of World War II. Following his discharge, he graduated from Ohio North University where he was a member of Sigma Pi Fraternity.
Mr. Stager and his family moved to Miami in 1969, relocating to Lakeland in 1972.
"He thought Lakeland would be a great place to raise his family, " Wilson said. His career with General Motors spanned more than 35 years.
He was family oriented, and had been given the name "Gaga" by his oldest grandson, which evolved into a name that all his family members used for him.
He and his wife would have celebrated their 50th anniversary in November.
"They still were just such a great example of a true marriage, what devotion in a marriage is. They both took care of each other, " Wilson said.
Mr. Stager was a sports enthusiast and was particularly interested in the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Florida Gators. He was also a fan of Dale Ernhardt Sr. and Jr.
He was a member of the American Legion. He was a member of the Navy Blue Jacket Choir. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where he was on the Usher Committee.
Mr. Stager was preceded in death by his son, John David Stager. In addition to his daughter, he is survived by his wife, Betty Stager; daughter, Jill Singer, Lawrenceville, Ga.; and four grandsons.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Lakeland Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, or Lakeland Christian School, Boy Scout Troop No. 737.

INDIAN LAKE ESTATES -- Mr. Gaines Earlin Alexander Sr. of Indian Lake Estates died of cancer Tuesday (Aug. 17, 2004) at Moffitt Cancer Center. He was 67.
Born in Double Springs, Ala., on Sept. 28, 1936, he came to Indian Lake Estates from Wauchula in 1965. He was a line foreman supervisor for Peace River Electric Corp. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Avon Park.
Mr. Alexander is survived by his wife, Nell Alexander; daughter, Debra Ann Thompson, Avon Park; sons, Gaines Earlin Alexander Jr., Winter Haven, Daniel Thomas Alexander, Lake Wales; brother, Hollis Ray Alexander, Lakeland; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 this morning at First Baptist Church in Avon Park. Burial will follow in Silver Hill Cemetery in Frostproof.

SYLVESTER, Ga. -- Mr. Ronnie Newton Massey of Sylvester, Ga., who has family in Polk County, died of cardio-respiratory failure Friday (July 30, 2004) at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. He was 53.
He was born Nov. 25, 1950, in Worth County, Ga. He was a trucker. He was a Baptist.
Mr. Massey is survived by his wife, Sherry L. Massey; son, Jamie Massey, Moultrie, Ga.; daughter, Rhonda Busbee, Cordele, Ga.; stepsons, Jeremy Thomey, Omaha, Neb., B.J. Thomey, Champaign, Ill., Christopher Kearce, Leesburg, Ga.; mother, Josie Lee Fransworth, Indian Lake Estates; sister, Angela Durrence, Richmond Hill, Ga.; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Banks Funeral Chapel, Sylvester.
