HAINES CITY -- Mrs. Lorene Bostick of Haines City died of heart failure Thursday (Aug. 11, 2005) at the Good Shepherd Hospice. She was 49.
She was born July 10, 1956, in Thomasville, Ga., and came here from Trenton, N.J. She was a correctional officer, mason and Hardee's manager in New Jersey. Locally, she was a bus dispatcher with Horizon Adult Day Center.
Mrs. Bostick is survived by her son, Elery Bostick, Trenton, N.J.; daughters, Adrianna Bostick and Sasha Bostick, both of Philadelphia; mother, Viola Tillman, Trenton, N.J.; stepmother, JoAnn Hill, Miami; brother, David Hill, Miami; sister, Lawanda Hill, Miami; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Covenant Community Center Church, 1010 Ave. C, Haines City. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery.

Accountant
HAINES CITY -- Mr. Paul T. Sines of Haines City died of respiratory failure Sunday (Aug. 14. 2005) at his home. He was 71.
He was born Nov. 10, 1933, in Detroit, Mich., and came here three years ago. He was a retired accountant. He was an Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Sines, Haines City; daughters, Ellen Sines, Stuart, Rita Sines, Dunedin, Diane Gilliam, Apopka, and Cheryl Caserta, Jensen Beach; sons, Daniel Sines, Thomas Sines and Gerald Bigler, all of Port St. Lucie, and Ricky Bigler, Ohio; brother, Donald Sines, Vassar, Mich., and 12 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held later.

WINTER HAVEN -- Mr. Don M. Beagles of Winter Haven died of cancer Wednesday (Aug. 24, 2005) at home. He was 54.
He was born in Enterprise, Ala., on Dec. 19, 1950. He was a carpenter.
Mr. Beagles is survived by his wife, Wilma Beagles; mother, Louise Tucker, Bartow; grandmother, Valere Ward, Lake Wales; brothers, Jeffery Beagles, Winter Haven, Gary Beagles, Alturas.

WILMETT SEATON, 84
LAKE WALES -- Mrs. Wilmett Ardella Johnson Seaton of Lake Wales died of cancer Sunday (Aug. 21, 2005) at The Groves Center Nursing Home in Lake Wales. She was 84.
She was born Jan. 25, 1921, in Ira, N.Y.
Mrs. Seaton was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Seaton; father, John O. Johnson; mother, Lillian Shavon Johnson; sons, Windle Seaton and Kenneth Seaton. Mrs. Seaton is survived by her daughters, Joanne Seaton Paulich, Lake Wales, Eunice Munger, New York, and Yeavon Jodway, New York; son, George W. Seaton, Oswego, N.Y.; sister, Geraldine Sweeting, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

EVELYN HANCOCK, 88
Fort Meade High School
FORT MEADE -- Mrs. Evelyn Hancock of Fort Meade died of heart failure Sunday (June 5, 2005) at Good Shepherd Hospice Care Center, Auburndale. She was 88.
Mrs. Hancock was born Aug. 1, 1916, in Lawtey. She was a cafeteria manager for Fort Meade High School for 15 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Fort Meade and the JOY Club. She taught Sunday School for 65 years. She was a secretary and director for the Church Training Program.
Mrs. Hancock was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Hancock. She is survived by her sons, Allen Hancock and Tommy Hancock, both of Fort Meade; sisters, Rubye Fair, Lakeland; Allene Morgan, Plant City; and three grandsons.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 this evening at Moody-Brant Funeral Home, Fort Meade. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Fort Meade.
James Hattaway, 80, Mobil Chemical
MULBERRY -- Mr. James Hilton Hattaway stayed in touch with his former football teammates on the Fort Meade Miners after winning the Ridge Conference State Championship in 1944.
"They always had a reunion every year and they would try to get out and play their positions, and it was just hilarious, " said his wife of 54 years, Dorothy Hattaway. "During high school, football was his love. He played center."
Mr. Hattaway, a retired environmental specialist for Mobil Chemical, died of congestive heart failure Sunday (May 22, 2005) at Palm Terrace Hospice in Lakeland. He was 80.
The lifelong resident of the area was born in Fort Meade on Nov. 20, 1924, and graduated from Fort Meade High School. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the Navy Choir. Mr. Hattaway later served in the Army Reserves.
During his 30-year career with Mobil Chemical, he furthered his education at Polk Community College and obtained a degree in teaching. After he retired from Mobil he worked as a substitute teacher, mostly at high schools, for the Polk County School Board.
"He liked to teach science and he was a real history buff, " Dorothy Hattaway said. "A couple of times when the music director would be out, they would ask him to come in. One time, he took all his Glen Miller tapes down there and taught the kids to jitterbug."
Mr. Hattaway was an avid singer and enjoyed visiting area churches where he sang lead for the choirs. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lakeland.
In addition to his wife, Dorothy Hattaway, Mr. Hattaway is survived by his daughters, Lila Farley, Black Mountain, N.C., Beth Currier, Brandon, and Marion Willis, Jacksonville; foster son, Bruce Mills, Tampa; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Bartow. Memorial services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice.

MICHAEL DURAN, 81

LAKELAND -- Mr. Michael J. Duran of Lakeland died of lung failure Tuesday (Aug. 23, 2005) at Good Shepherd Hospice. He was 81.
Born in Porostov in the former Czechoslovakia on June 17, 1924, he came to Lakeland from Gary, Ind., 40 years ago. He was a bookkeeper. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Mr. Duran is survived by his sons, Lee Duran, San Francisco, Jay Duran, Lakeland, Todd Duran, Denver.
Graveside services will be at noon today at Mount Enon Cemetery in Plant City.
