LAKELAND -- Mrs. Louise I. Kleb of Lakeland died of heart failure Thursday (Aug. 25, 2005) at home. She was 79.
She was born in Champaign, Ill., on Nov. 4, 1925. She was a homemaker. She was a Protestant.
Mrs. Kleb is survived by her husband, Earl Kleb; son, Jimmy Kleb, Miami; daughters, Sharon Montague, St. Augustine, Dorothy Heisler, Lakeland, Chris Cartaya, Gainesville; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 this afternoon at Lakeland Funeral Home. Services will at 4 p.m. at the funeral home chapel.
Mary Lynn Smith, 72, Nurse's Aide
WINTER HAVEN -- Ms. Mary Lynn Smith loved to cook.
"She was one heck of a cook. Everybody was crazy about her cooking, " said her ex-husband, Ray Smith of Winter Haven. "She was a great person, and she tried to help a lot of people. She would cook up meals and carry them to people."
The former private duty nurse died of pneumonia Thursday (Aug. 25, 2005) at Winter Haven Hospital. She was 72.
Born in Swainsboro, Ga., on Dec. 20, 1932, Ms. Smith came to the Winter Haven area at a young age and graduated from Winter Haven High School in 1952.
Ms. Smith was a homemaker while raising her two daughters. She later worked as a private duty nurse for several years.
In addition to cooking, she enjoyed shopping, going to church and painting.
"She enjoyed painting buildings and outdoor scenes, " said Ms. Smith's former sister-in-law, Elsie Smith of Haines City.
"She loved to look her best and dress neat and go to the beauty parlor and get her hair done."
Ms. Smith was an active member of Eagle Lake Assembly of God where she formerly worked with the Missionettes class and taught Sunday school.
Ms. Smith is survived by her daughter, Vangie Renee Groth, Haines City; brother, Kenneth Wilkes, Lakeland; one grandson; one great granddaughter.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Eagle Lake Assembly of God Church.

BARTOW -- Ms. Ann Huffer of Mulberry died of pancreatitis Wednesday (Aug. 17, 2005) in Bartow. She was 64.
Born April 11, 1941, in Union City, Ind., she came here from Shelby, Ohio, in 1985. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Union City, Ill., and Imperial Lake Golf Association. She was a Protestant.
Ms. Huffer is survived by her sisters, Judy Shreves, Downers Grove, Ill., and Nancy Coon, Sundance, Wyo.; and brothers, Perry Blankley, Powell, Tenn., and Michael Blankley, Union City, Ind.

PLANT CITY -- Ms. Mary Jean McCann of Plant City died of cancer Sunday (Aug. 21, 2005) in Plant City. She was 66.
Born May 29, 1939, in Boston, she came here from Boston in 1988. She was a homemaker. She attended St. Clement Catholic Church.
Mrs. McCann is survived by her husband, John McCann Sr.; son, John J. McCann Jr., Cresskill, N.J.; daughters, Tracey Collins and Stephanie Doyle, both of Plant City; brothers, Emilio Scapicchio, Boston, Robert Scapicchio, Medford, Mass., Sebastian Scapicchio, Medford, Mass., and Peter Scapicchio, Medford, Mass.; sisters, Dorothy Scapicchio, Lydia Scapicchio, and Connie Scapicchio, all of Medford, Mass.; and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. today at St. Clement Catholic Church. Services will follow the visitation.

FROSTPROOF -- Mr. John William Goebel of Frostproof died of heart failure Sunday (Aug. 21, 2005) at home. He was 94.
Born Feb. 26, 1911, in Mooreland Township, Mich., he came here from Ravenna, Mich., 23 years ago. He was a self-employed farmer. He was a Catholic.
Mr. Goebel is survived by his wife, Edna Goebel; daughters, Patricia Jane Wheeler, Baldwin, Mich., Sandra Kay Wilburn, Gibston, Catherine Marie Wert, Grant, Mich.; Susan Carol Weinrick, Manton, Mich.; 16 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at a later date in Michigan.

WINTER HAVEN -- Mr. Donald Gene McCloud of Davenport died of heart failure Monday (Aug. 15, 2005) in Winter Haven. He was 66.
Born Oct. 1, 1938, in Manilla, Ark., he came here from East Prairie, Mo., in 1959. He was a Citrus Enterprise truck driver. He was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church in Loughman.
Mr. McCloud is survived by his wife, Thelma McCloud; son, Donald Keith McCloud, Orlando; daughters, Marsha Elizabeth Rutledge, Davenport, and Pamela Irene McCloud, Haines City; sister, Patricia Catts, Davenport; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Oak Ridge Funeral Care. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home chapel.

LAKELAND -- Mr. Alan Kirk Friedman of Lakeland died of cancer Sunday (Aug. 14, 2005) at his home. He was 67.
He was born on Oct. 27, 1937, in San Diego, Calif., and moved to Lakeland in 1999 from Rochester, N.Y. He worked for many years in the commercial insurance industry. He was a member of the Stardust Dance Center in Plant City. He was Jewish.
Mr. Friedman is survived by his wife, Judi Friedman, Lakeland, daughters, Elyse Matson, San Diego, and Kim Foreman, Canandaigua, N.Y.; sons, Michael Friedman and Russell Friedman, both of San Diego; brother, Marc Friedman, San Diego; and five grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Schalamar Creek Golf and Country Club.
