LAKELAND -- Mrs. Peggy Conger of Lakeland died of heart failure Tuesday (Aug. 3, 2004) at Good Shepherd Hospice Care Center. She was 54.
Born in Dallas on Feb. 23, 1950, she came to Lakeland from Buffalo, N.Y., nine years ago. She retired from Danka Office Products Co. She was a Catholic.
Mrs. Conger is survived by her husband, Thomas E. Conger; daughter, Patricia Richmond, Columbus, Ohio; sisters, Patricia Providence, Conesus Lake, N.Y., Melody Floreske, Middleburg Heights, Ohio, Lisa Fuller, Bliss, N.Y.; brothers, Wayne Tavernier, San Antonio, Texas, Scott White, Daytona Beach; mother, Eloise Spencer, Daytona Beach; two grandchildren.
Services will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Gentry-Morrison Southside Funeral Home.

ERIC DUNNAVENT, Infant
LAKE WALES -- Master Eric Lee Kilburn Dunnavent, the son of John W. Dunnavent of Eloise and Crystal G. Kilburn of Lake Wales, died Aug. 12, 2004, at Regency Medical Center. He was an infant.
He was born in Winter Haven on Aug. 12, 2004.
In addition to his parents, Master Dunnavent is survived by his maternal grandmother, Nancy Kilburn, Lake Wales; great-grandmothers, Betty Feaster, Babson Park, Louise Kilburn, Lawrenceburg, Tenn.; paternal grandparents, Wayne and Sherry Dunnavent, Eloise.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Lake Wales Cemetery.

MAY WALLACE, 90

LAKE ROSALIE -- Mrs. May S. Wallace of Lake Rosalie, formerly of Highland City, died of congestive heart failure Thursday (July 29, 2004) at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. She was 90.
Born in Alliance, Ohio, on May 31, 1914, she lived in Highland City for 60 years before moving to Lake Rosalie. She was a homemaker. She was a member of First Christian Church of Alliance, Ohio and attended First Christian Church of Lake Wales.
Mrs. Wallace was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Wallace. She is survived by her son, Tim Wallace, Bartow; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Oak Hill Burial Park, Lakeland.

KIRBY ORME, 71

HIGHLAND CITY -- Mr. Kirby Edward Orme of Highland City died of COPD Friday (Aug. 6, 2004) at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. He was 71.
Born Nov. 20, 1932, in Highland City, he was a lifelong resident of this area. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving in the Korean War. He was a maintenance clerk for the Polk County School Board. He was active in the Sun 'n Fun Fly-In.
Mr. Orme is survived by his wife of 51 years, Betty Jane Orme; daughters, Janet Wheeler, Baton Rouge, La., Pam Higgins, Lakeland; mother, Edna Orme, Highland City; four grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Lakeland Funeral Home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Lakeland Memorial Gardens.
EUGENE ALLEN, 41

MULBERRY -- Mr. Eugene Allen Jr. of Mulberry died of lung failure Wednesday (Aug. 11, 2004) at James A. Haley Veterans Hospital. He was 41.
Born in Lakeland on March 15, 1963, he came to Mulberry from Highland City 12 years ago. He was a plant operator for C.F. Industries Phosphate. He was a Dixie League softball coach in Mulberry. He was an Army veteran of the Persian Gulf War, having served in the 82nd Airborne, and was a lifemember of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a Baptist.
Mr. Allen is survived by his wife, Marti M. Allen; daughter, Lesli D. Allen, Mulberry; parents, Melvin and Katherine Allen, Lakeland; sisters, Sharon Schwarzkopf, Lakeland, Karen Hielscher, Alturas.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 this evening at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, 650 E. Main St., Bartow. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home chapel.

Delredge Bullock, 73, Bullock Industries
WINTER HAVEN -- Sgt. Delredge "Del"' H. Bullock was determined to not let being a paraplegic stand in the way of achieving his dreams and goals.
"He spent 52 years in a wheelchair. He was a person who just almost overcompensated because he felt like he could do anything that anyone else could do, " said his wife of 48 years, Janice H. Bullock.
The retired juvenile officer and one of the first disabled officers to work for the Winter Haven Police Department died of heart failure Tuesday (Aug. 10, 2004) at James A. Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa. He was 73.
Born in Ohatchee, Ala., on June 1, 1931, he came to Winter Haven from Kansas City, Mo., in 1954, after serving more than three years in the Air Force and participating in the Korean War.
An automobile accident left Mr. Bullock a paraplegic.
He joined the Winter Haven Police Department in 1959, as one of the first three physically disabled officers hired by the late Muncie Smith. Mr. Bullock worked as a juvenile officer.
"He dealt with all the juvenile offenders. He spoke widely in all the schools, churches, civic groups and so forth on the fact that drugs were becoming so prevalent and it was necessary to stop it, " Janice Bullock said. "At one time we had four runaways and we took them in our home, got into contact with their folks and kept them until they came to pick them up. He was very much looked up to."
Mr. Bullock worked with the force for nine years before retiring. He returned to school, obtaining a bachelor's degree in sociology from the University of South Florida.
He opened Bullock Industries, a silk-screening business that he and his wife operated for nine years in Auburndale.
He participated in the Wheelchair Olympics and was featured in The Ledger in July 2001 for his athletic abilities. He won numerous gold, silver, and bronze medals.
He was also an avid Florida Gators fan.
"He had a very deep faith in God and was an active member of the church, " Janice Bullock said.
He was past secretary on the board of the Paralyzed Veterans of America, Gulf Coast Chapter, and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Post No. 8 in Winter Haven. He was past president of the Auburndale Lions Club and past district governor of Multiple District No. 35 of the Lions Club. He was a member of the Winter Haven Moose Lodge, the Florida Gators Booster Club and the Polk County Gator Boosters. He was a charter member of Crossroads Community Church of Auburndale.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Bullock is survived by his son, Stephen D. Bullock, Winter Haven; daughter, Beth Ford, Winter Haven; brothers, Franklin "Doyle" Bullock, Hixon, Tenn., Gerald D. Bullock, Fort Walton Beach, Mark D. Bullock, Kissimmee; sisters, Frances Jewell, Winter Haven, Dolores Riley, Kansas City, Mo.; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Winter Haven. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Crossroads Community Church in Auburndale. Burial will follow in Lakeside Memorial Park, Winter Haven.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Auburndale Lions Club or the Paralyzed Veterans of America, Gulf Coast Chapter.
STEPHANIE LOPEZ, 29

WAHNETA -- Ms. Stephanie D. Lopez of Wahneta died of pancreatitis Tuesday (Aug. 3, 2004) at Winter Haven Hospital. She was 29.
Born in Harlan, Ky., on Oct. 4, 1974, she came to Wahneta from Lakeland in 1984. She was a homemaker. She was a Baptist.
Ms. Lopez is survived by her companion, Edgar Omar Venegas, Wahneta; father, Randall Osborne, Orlando; mother, Anna Marie Gonzales, Lakeland; sister, Donna Bright, Lakeland; brother, Marice Farmer, Lakeland; and sons, Mark Anthony Osborne, Winter Haven, and Omar Wayne Venegas, Wahneta.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
