LAKELAND -- Mr. William A. Hagerman of Lakeland died of heart failure Thursday (Dec. 22, 2005). He was 94.
Born Dec. 26, 1910, in Coatesville, Pa., Mr. Hagerman moved to Lakeland from Wilmington, Del., in 1951.
Mr. Hagerman was a member of the American Iron Steel Institute, Lakeland Yacht & Country Club, Bradenton Yacht Club, Shriners and Sons of the American Revolution. He was also a Rotarian and 32nd degree Mason. He was Episcopalian.
Mr. Hagerman was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Hagerman. He is survived by his son, Richard Hagerman, Lakeland; daughter, Carole Donlon, Lakeland; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Jan. 7, 2006, at Heath Funeral Chapel, Lakeland.

VERA BENOIT, 82

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Ms. Vera Benoit of Biddeford, Maine, died of pneumonia Friday (Dec. 23, 2005) at Kennebunk Nursing Home. She was 82.
Ms. Benoit was born Oct. 6, 1923, in Saco, Maine. She worked for Herman Shoe for 20 years. She attended Cornerstone United Methodist Church, where she joined the Women's Club and ENL Club. She was a member of Ivory Temple of the Pythian Sisters of Kennebunk for 50 years.
Ms. Benoit is survived by her companion, Kenneth C. Arrington, Biddeford; daughters, Gloria Leonard, Idaho Springs, Colo., Carol Benoit Reynolds, Bedford, Mass., Kathleen Benoit, Lakeland; brother, Milton Mitchell, Saco; sister, Barbara Mitchell, Saco; and two grandsons.
Services will be at noon today at Cote Funeral Home, Saco.

HENRY FUSSELL, 78

HIGHLAND CITY -- Mr. Henry C. "Buster" Fussell of Highland City died of heart failure Saturday (Dec. 24, 2005) at Bartow Memorial Hospital. He was 78.
Born Dec. 17, 1927, in Labelle, Mr. Fussell moved to Highland City from there in 1961. He was a truck driver.
Mr. Fussell is survived by his wife, Darlene Fussell; daughters, Donna Page, Highland City, Teri Hartbarger, Bartow; sister, Minnie Williams, Labelle; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home, Auburndale. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
KATHLEEN WELLS, 58

HAINES CITY -- Mrs. Kathleen M. Wells of Haines City died of cancer Thursday (Dec. 22, 2005) in Winter Haven. She was 58.
Born in St. Marys, Ohio, on April 6, 1947, she came to Haines City from Ontario, in 1980. She was the owner and operator of Heartland Estates in Haines City. She was a Methodist.
Mrs. Wells is survived by her husband, William Wells; brother, Thomas Katterheinrich, New Knoxville, Ohio.
Services will be held in Ohio.

MYRTICE MARTIN, 87

LAKELAND -- Mrs. Myrtice A. Martin of Lakeland died of cancer Thursday (Dec. 22, 2005) at home. She was 87.
Born in Fort Lauderdale on May 22, 1918, she came to Lakeland from Mulberry 23 years ago. She was a postmaster for the U.S. Postal Service in Bradley Junction. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Mulberry.
Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her husband, B.G. Martin. She is survived by her daughter, Sherry M. Murphy, Lakeland; sons, Dr. George H. Martin, Louisville, Ky., Dr. James E. Martin, Salisbury, Md.; eight grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2:30 this afternoon at First Baptist Church of Mulberry, 300 First Ave. N.E., Mulberry. Services will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the church.

Norma Sargent, 77, Nurse
WINTER HAVEN -- Mrs. Norma L. Sargent, a retired licensed practical nurse, died of heart failure Wednesday (Dec. 21, 2005) in Winter Haven. She was 77.
"She did mostly home health care for terminal people, " said John R. Sargent, her husband of 57 years. "She felt comfortable at it. She had worked around people most of her life. She loved to talk, and she loved people."
She was born in Irwin, Pa., on Sept. 17, 1928. She and her husband came to Florida 20 years ago. They lived in Highland City before they moved to Winter Haven in 1991.
"She loved Florida, and her parents lived here, and we came here from Hazelton, Pa. After we lived up north, we wanted to get into God's country, and it is nice down here, " John Sargent said. He described her as a family-oriented lady who enjoyed reading and loved life.
She was a member of the Christian Bible Fellowship Church in Bowling Green and attended First Church of God in Winter Haven.
In addition to her husband, John R. Sargent, Mrs. Sargent is survived by her son, David P. Sargent, Bowling Green; daughters, Deborah F. Kressley, Emaus, Pa., Grace E. McKuch, Shellington, Pa.; sisters, Sarah Frey, Lakeland, Faye Dodds, Canton, Ohio; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Lakeland Funeral Home. Services will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home chapel.

LAKELAND -- Mr. William Ted Powell of Lakeland died of a heart attack Monday (Dec. 19, 2005) at home. He was 69.
Born in Palmersville, Tenn., on Nov. 30, 1936, he came to Lakeland from Canton, Mich., 32 years ago. He worked for W.S. Badcock Furniture. He was an Army veteran. He was a member of First Baptist Church at the Mall.
Mr. Powell is survived by his wife, Kathleen Powell; son, Michael R. Powell, Lowell; daughter, Robin M. Taylor, Lakeland.
