HAINES CITY -- Mr. Joseph F. Midzalkowski of Haines City died of congestive heart failure Tuesday (Aug. 17, 2004) at Haines City Healthcare. He was 86.
Born in Colt's Neck, N.J., on Dec. 16, 1917, he came to Haines City from Hollywood, Fla., in 1980. He worked as a truck driver for Kraft Foods for many years. He was also the plant manager for the water system in the city of Hollywood. He was a fourth degree Knight of Columbus in Winter Haven and a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Haines City.
Mr. Midzalkowski was preceded in death by his wife, Helen M. Midzalkowski. He is survived by his sons, Jim Midzalkowski, Naples, Joe Midzalkowski, Lakeland; sisters, Jane Cinkewicz, Freehold, N.J., Teresa Nolan, Lebanon, Ore.; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
Memorial services will be held at a later date at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Haines City.

POTOMAC FALLS, Va. -- Mrs. Nikki Young McKee of Potomac Falls, Va., formerly of Lakeland, died of complications from Alzheimer's disease Thursday (Aug. 19, 2004). She was 82.
Born in Lakeland, Mrs. McKee moved to Potomac Falls, Va., in 2001. She worked at the Lodwick School of Aeronautics in 1943.
Mrs. McKee is survived by her husband, Lt. Gen. George McKee; daughter, Beverly Wilson, Clayton, Ga.; son, Col. George M. McKee, Alta Loma, Calif.; sister, Vivian Westbrook, Sylvia, N.C.; five grandchildren; four great-granddaughters.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 3, at the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.

LAKELAND -- Mrs. Vera Starling of Lakeland died of lung failure Monday (Aug. 16, 2004) at home. She was 74.
Born in Lakeland on Nov. 18, 1929, Mrs. Starling was a lifelong resident. She was a homemaker and a member of Carter's Baptist Church.
Mrs. Starling was preceded in death by her husband, Elam A. Starling. She is survived by her sons, Alvin Starling, Madison, Jimmy Starling, Lakeland; daughters, Gail Gard, Lakeland, Linda Wade, Lithia; sisters, Thelma Dockery, Auburndale, Juanita Tedrick, Sarasota; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 this morning at Lakeland Funeral Home.

WINTER HAVEN -- Mr. Walter Levi Parsons of Winter Haven died of heart complications Friday (Aug. 20, 2004) at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. He was 69.
Born Dec. 22, 1934, in Bernie, Mo., he came to Winter Haven from Davisburg, Mich., in 1993. He was a produce manager for Allied Foods in Detroit for 32 years. He was a Baptist.
Mr. Parsons is survived by his wife of 50 years, Shelby J. Parsons; sons, Jerry D. Parsons, Mountain Home, Ark., Terry L. Parsons, Waterford, Mich.; daughter, Sherry D. Smith, Franklin, Tenn.; brothers, George Parsons, Davisburg, Mich., Joe Parsons, Otter Lake, Mich., Jerry Parsons, Paris, Tenn.; sisters, Barbara Duff, Illinois, Ruth Jones, Poplar Bluff, Mo.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Steele's Family Services Chapel, Winter Haven. Services will follow at 11 a.m. at the chapel.

WINTER HAVEN -- Ms. Ida Bellamy of Winter Haven died of natural causes Saturday (Aug. 14, 2004) at Spring Lake Nursing Center. She was 95.
Born in Monticello on Nov. 8, 1908, Ms. Bellamy came to Winter Haven more than 20 years ago. She was a baker.
Ms. Bellamy is survived by her sons, Abram Bellamy, Eddie Bellamy, both of Winter Haven; daughters, Ida Sheffield, Fayetteville, N.C., Nellie Bellamy, Philadelphia; 15 grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at New Bethel Baptist Church. Services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church.

LAKE WALES -- Mr. Salvador Ortega of Lake Wales died of heart failure Thursday (Aug. 19, 2004) at Lake Wales Medical Center. He was 78.
Born in Puerto Rico, on June 24, 1926, Mr. Ortega came to Lake Wales from San Juan two years ago. A Catholic, he was a retired maintenance superintendent for high-rise buildings.
Mr. Ortega was preceded in death by his wife, Flor Maria Torres. He is survived by his daughters, Maria Milagro Ortega, Margarita Ortega, both of Cape Coral, Magdalia Ortega, Lake Wales; sons, Salvador Ortega Jr., David Ortega, both of New York City, Marco Ortega, Lake Wales; six sisters; 19 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 this evening with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. at Marion Nelson Funeral Home of Lake Wales.

AUBURNDALE -- Mrs. Pamela Lester of Auburndale died Sunday (Aug. 15, 2004) at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. She was 34.
Services will be at 2 this afternoon at Havendale Christian Center on Lake Blue Road. Burial will follow in Lincoln Park Cemetery in Auburndale.

AUBURNDALE -- Mr. Paul L. Cooper of Auburndale died of a heart attack Sunday (Aug. 15, 2004) in Lakeland. He was 45.
Born in Pearson, Ga., on March 24, 1959, he came to Auburndale from Winter Haven 30 years ago. He was a sanitation worker for the city of Auburndale and a member of St. James A.M.E. Church in Auburndale.
Mr. Cooper is survived by his wife, Doris R. Cooper; daughters, Gail Cooper, Bridget Cooper, Pauline Cooper, all of Auburndale; son, Paul L. Cooper Jr., Auburndale; sisters, Lucille Cooper, Gloria Minor, Iona Smallwood, Helen Jackson, Agnes Sanders, Dorothy Cooper, Ron Aaron Cooper, all of Pearson, Ga.; brother, Aaron Ron Cooper, Pearson.
