WINTER HAVEN -- Mrs. Betty L. Davis of Winter Haven died of complications of pneumonia Tuesday (Dec. 7, 2004) at Winter Haven Health and Rehab. She was 63.
Born in Live Oak on April 2, 1941, she came to Winter Haven from there 20 years ago. She was a homemaker. She was a Baptist.
Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Davis. She is survived by her son, Robert Davis, Winter Haven, Jimmy L. Davis, Atlanta; daughters, Teresa Taylor, Lakeland, Tina Davis, Winter Haven; brothers, Billy Ray Jenkins, High Springs, Danny Jenkins, Branford, Dewey Jenkins, Brooker, Frank Jenkins, James Jenkins, John Jenkins, all of Branford; sisters, Estelle Bass, Branford, Mary Welch, O'Brien, Shirley Ann Dickert, Cross City, Linda Gail Jenkins, Branford; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 this evening at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, 650 E. Main St., Bartow. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home chapel.

WINTER HAVEN -- Mr. Duane K. Browning of Winter Haven died of liver disease Tuesday (Dec. 7, 2004) in Winter Haven. He was 48.
Born in Toledo, Ohio, on April 9, 1956, he came to Winter Haven from Tennessee three years ago. He was an automobile mechanic. He was a Pentecostal.
Mr. Browning is survived by his mother, Betty Howell, Toledo; brothers, Dan Browning, Avon Park, James Browning, Winter Haven, Scott Browning, Kevin Browning, both of Nashville, Tenn.; sister, Tina Zunk, Toledo; son, Ricky Roach, Missouri.

GORDON BROADHEAD, 87

LAKELAND -- Mr. Gordon "Gordy" Broadhead of Lakeland died of heart failure Sunday (Dec. 5, 2004) at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. He was 87.
Born in Napanoch, N.Y., on June 14, 1917, he came to Lakeland from Middletown, N.Y., in 1972. He worked in recreation systems. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and received the Silver Star and Purple Heart.
Mr. Broadhead was preceded in death by his wife, Caroline Broadhead. He is survived by his daughters, Cathy Lausell, Lakeland, Debra Jojola, Greeley, Colo.; sons, Michael Broadhead, Lakeland, Gordon Broadhead Jr., Haines City, Kim Broadhead, Venice; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, at Florida National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Anthony's Catholic youth ministry program.

FROSTPROOF -- Mr. Wilfred "Barney" Bernhardt of Frostproof died of multiple organ failure Tuesday (Dec. 7, 2004) in Frostproof. He was 75.
Born in Erie, Pa., on July 9, 1929, he came to Frostproof 19 years ago. He was a forklift operator. He was a school crossing guard in Frostproof for two years. He was an Army veteran.
Mr. Bernhardt is survived by his wife, Nora Bernhardt, and stepdaughter, Mary Coram, Tampa.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Friday at Stowers Brandon Chapel. Services will follow at noon at the funeral home chapel in Brandon.

AUBURNDALE -- Mr. Roscoe Baker of Auburndale died Monday (Dec. 6, 2004) at Forsythe Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale. He was 44.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Charles A. Lewis Funeral Home, Winter Haven. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Triune Baptist Church, 1920 40th St. N.W., Winter Haven.

LAKELAND -- Mr. Johannes "John" van Bergen Jr. of Lakeland died of heart disease Tuesday (Dec. 7, 2004) at home. He was 76.
Born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, on Oct. 18, 1928, he came to Lakeland from Fort Lauderdale two years ago. He was the owner and operator of a cabinetmaking shop. He was a member of FOE No. 3140, Fort Lauderdale.
Mr. van Bergen is survived by his wife, Mary van Bergen; two brothers, and one sister, all of Amsterdam.

WINTER HAVEN -- Mr. Thomas David "Tommy" Tyler of Winter Haven died of lung failure Saturday (Dec. 4, 2004) at Winter Haven Hospital. He was 52.
Born in Winter Haven on Sept. 8, 1952, he was a lifelong resident. He was a self-employed farmer and fisherman.
Mr. Tyler is survived by his sister, Sheila Tyler, Winter Haven.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Lakeshore Club Community Room, 1003 S. Lake Howard Drive, Winter Haven.

WILLIE TAYLOR, 88

AUBURNDALE -- Mr. Willie James Taylor of Auburndale died of complications of Alzheimer's disease Sunday (Dec. 5, 2004) at Auburndale Oaks Nursing Home. He was 88.
Born in Cleveland, Va., on Oct. 10, 1916, he came to Auburndale from Pearisburg, Va., 16 years ago. He was a retired salesman. He attended Life and Praise Temple of Auburnadle.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife of 63 years, Opal Taylor; son, Lewis Taylor, Auburndale; daughter, Debra Stephens, Lakeland; brothers, Vernie Taylor, Abingdon, Va., Hoburt Taylor, Lebanon, Va.; two grandchildren.
Services will be held in Pearisburg, Va.
