LAKELAND -- Mr. Huey B. Messick of Lakeland died of cancer Monday (Dec. 6, 2004) in Lakeland. He was 65.
Born in Opp, Ala., on Nov. 18, 1939, he came to Lakeland at a young age. He worked for TECO for 26 years.
Mr. Messick is survived by his wife, Patricia Messick; mother, Pearl Messick, Plant City; daughter, Judy Faircloth, Lakeland; stepson, Tony Proctor, Plant City; stepdaughters, Sheryl Stanaland, Lakeland, Lisa Cooper, Plant City; sisters, Bonnie Carroll, and Mattie Taylor, both of Plant City, Gensie Sasser, and Della Bowman, both of Alabama; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at Hopewell Funeral Home, Plant City. Services will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home chapel.

LAKELAND -- Mrs. Corrine Teems McCloud of Lakeland died of a heart attack Sunday (Dec. 5, 2004) at Grace Healthcare of Lakeland. She was 91.
Born in Adrian, Ga., she came to Lakeland from Georgia, many years ago. She was a cashier for Publix Supermarkets. She was a member of Pilgrim Rest Freewill Baptist Church.
Mrs. McCloud is survived by her husband, Joe McCloud, Lakeland.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at H.W. Oldham Funeral Home, Lakeland. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Pilgrim Rest Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

LAKELAND -- Mrs. Kimberly A. Mayid of Lakeland died of pneumonia Monday (Dec. 6, 2004) at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. She was 38.
Born in Cleveland on Aug. 4, 1966, she came to Lakeland from there in 1981. She was an accountant for Mid Florida School Credit Union. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Mrs. Mayid is survived by her husband, Roger A. Mayid Sr.; sons, Roger A. Mayid Jr., Ryan A. Mayid, both of Lakeland; daughters, Kayla A. Mayid, Kelsey A. Mayid, both of Lakeland; parents, John F. and Georgia Prokuski, Lakeland; sister, Christina L. Fielders, Lakeland; brothers, John F. Prokuski Jr., Tom A. Prokuski, both of Lakeland.
Visitation will be from 7 to 10 p.m. Thursday at Lakeland Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lakeland.
KATHLEEN LYLE, 92

BARTOW -- Mrs. Kathleen R. Lyle of Bartow died of congestive heart failure Monday (Dec. 6, 2004) at Bartow Memorial Hospital. She was 92.
Born in Hoschton, Ga., on Feb. 12, 1912, she came to Bartow from Georgia 80 years ago. She was a secretary for the County Agriculture Extension Office. She was a Bartow 4-H Club leader for many years and secretary of the Polk Cattleman's Association. She was also a citrus grower. She was a member of Bartow First Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher.
Mrs. Lyle was preceded in death by her husband, William Raymond Lyle. She is survived by her son, Ray Lyle, Sammamish, Wash.; daughters, Virginia Brower, Linda Carver, both of Bartow; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 this evening at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, 650 E. Main St., Bartow. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home chapel.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church ministry center, 410 E. Church St., Bartow.

JACKSON, Ohio -- Mr. Little Levy Jr. of Jackson, Ohio, formerly of Haines City, died Thursday (Dec. 2, 2004). He was 72.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Jon Deitloff Funeral Center, 4389 Spring Grove Ave., Cincinnati. Services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Baltimore Pike Cemetery.

WINTER HAVEN -- Mr. Clyde Holbert of Winter Haven died of lung cancer Tuesday (Dec. 7, 2004) at home. He was 75.
Born in Hancock, N.Y., on Feb. 21, 1929, he was a winter resident before coming here permanently in 2000. He was the former owner of Holbert Lumber Co. in Hancock. He was an Air Force veteran. He was a member of Hancock Baptist Church in Hancock.
Mr. Holbert is survived by his wife, Mildred Holbert; daughters, Wanda Holbert, Chambersburg, Pa., Janet Hadden, East Branch, N.Y., Ellen Holbert, North Ridge, Calif., Robin Stanton, Clayville, N.Y.; brother, Alphonse Holbert, Hancock; sister, Daughn Linkrowm, Hancock; five grandchildren; three step grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hammondell Mobile Home Park clubhouse, Winter Haven.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Mr. Russell E. Harriger of Spartanburg, S.C., formerly of Lakeland, died of heart disease Monday (Dec. 6, 2004) at home. He was 82.
Born in Coraopolis, Pa., on March 18, 1922, he lived in Lakeland before moving to Spartanburg, S.C. He was a retired building contractor.
Mr. Harriger is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jean Harriger; daughters, Sharon Hyatt, Lakeland, Debbie Roberts, Spartanburg; son, Kenneth Harriger, Apollo Beach; sisters, Gertrude Beistel, Aliquippa, Pa., Jo Ann Gray, Augusta, Ga.; four granddaughters; five great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3 to 3:45 p.m. Thursday at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Memorial services will follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home chapel.

LAKELAND -- Mrs. Miriam Harper Frakes of Lakeland died of heart failure Friday (Dec. 3, 2004). She was 95.
Born in Manila, Philippines, on May 2, 1909, she came to Lakeland from Sarasota 16 years ago. She was a legal secretary. She was a member of the Presbyterian Chapel in the Grove.
Mrs. Frakes was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ernest Frakes. She is survived by her niece, June Smith, San Antonio.

WANDA FLETCHER, 81

LAKELAND -- Ms. Wanda Fletcher of Lakeland died of heart disease Sunday (Dec. 5, 2004) at home. She was 81.
Born in Italy, on Nov. 5, 1923, she came to Lakeland from New York City 50 years ago. She was a secretary for Lakeland city government. She was a civil servant for the Army overseas during World War II.
Ms. Fletcher is survived by her brother, Oscar Forzani.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Oak Hill Burial Park.
