PLANT CITY -- Lt. Col. Beulah Blanche Platt of Plant City died of natural causes associated with old age Thursday (Dec. 9, 2004) in Plant City. She was 90.
Born in Plant City on April 28, 1914, she was a lifelong resident. She was a retired officer in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps of 27 years, and she served under Gen. George S. Patton in World War II.
Lt. Col. Platt is survived by her sister, Jo Aughinbaugh; brother, Hugh Platt.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10 this morning at Wells Memorial Funeral Chapel, Plant City. Services will follow at 10 a.m. at the funeral home chapel.
DANIELLE MERLINO, 34
NAPLES -- Ms. Danielle Merlino of Naples, formerly of Bartow, died of liver failure Wednesday (Dec. 8, 2004) at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. She was 34.
Born in Miami on Dec. 8, 1970, she lived in Bartow before recently moving to Naples.
Ms. Merlino is survived by her parents, Vincent James and Aurora Merlino; sisters, Iolanthe and Ashlee; brother, Jason.
Funeral arrangements will be made in Miami.
NORMAN KUHN, 66

LAKELAND -- Mr. Norman B. Kuhn of Lakeland died of a heart attack Oct. 26, 2004, at his summer home in Sturgis, Mich. He was 66.
Born in Decatur, Ill., on Feb. 12, 1938, he lived in La Porte, Ind., before coming to Lakeland. He was the owner of Michiana Variety and Plates-n-Things Co. He was a former member of the Jaycees and a life member of the Elks Lodge. He was a member of Big Cypress Golf Country Club in Florida. He graduated from Ball State University in Muncie, Ind. He was a Marine Corps veteran. He was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Mr. Kuhn is survived by his wife, Karen; son, Kevin Kuhn, Birmingham, Ala.; daughters, Kimberly Stachowski, Fish Lake, Ind., Pamela Cockerham, Jacksonville; brothers, Donald Kuhn, Kansas City, Mo., Robert Kuhn, Grand Rapids, Mich., Gene Kuhn, Tuscaloosa, Ala.; sister, Wilmar Gardner, Sheffield, Ala.; five grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

HAINES CITY -- Mr. Oscar Will "O.W." Chambers Sr. of Haines City died of heart and lung failure Tuesday (Dec. 7, 2004) at home. He was 78.
Born in Louisville, Ala., on Jan. 18, 1926, he came to Haines City from there 60 years ago. He was a retired citrus worker of 50 years, having worked for High Acres Citrus, Haines City Industries, Adams Citrus, and Minute Maid Citrus Cos. He was a former member of St. Mark AME Church where he was a steward and member of the choir.
Mr. Chambers is survived by his wife, Lillie Mae Chambers; sons, Oscar W. Chambers Jr., Charles A. Chambers, both of Haines City; daughter, Geraldine Freeman, Louisville; sister, Ossie Brown, Detroit; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Holmes Funeral Home, 601 Claude Holmes Sr. Ave., Haines City. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in New Oakland Cemetery.

LAKELAND -- Mrs. Barbara Fay Cecere of Lakeland died of heart disease Tuesday (Dec. 7, 2004) at home. She was 61.
Born in Coney Island, N.Y., on Nov. 21, 1943, she came to Lakeland from Vineland, N.J., 28 years ago. She was a homemaker. She was Jewish.
Mrs. Cecere was preceded in death by her husband, Carlo Cecere. She is survived by her daughters, Michelle Aulffo, Vineland, Caralyn Marti, Lakeland; two granddaughters.

DAVENPORT -- Mr. Eleodoro Bahena Sr. of Davenport died of injuries sustained in an auto accident north of Haines City, Thursday (Dec. 9, 2004). He was 36.
Born in Medina, Texas, on April 1, 1968, he came to Davenport in 1990. He was a fruit picker in the citrus industry. He attended St. Ann Catholic Church in Haines City.
Mr. Bahena is survived by his wife, Patricia Bahena; mother, Luisa Arrieta Bahena, Haines City; son, Eleodoro Bahena Jr., Davenport; daughters, Luisa Bahena, Noelia Bahena, both of Davenport; brothers, Pedro Bahena, Davenport, Victor Bahena, Pedrito Bahena, Adan Bahena, all of Haines City, Alejandro Bahena Jr., Dundee; sister, Mariana Bahena, Haines City.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Ann Catholic Church, 1001 Grace Ave., Haines City. Service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Haines City.
Porter Anderson Harris Dies at 104
ALBANY, Ga. -- Mr. Anderson Harris Jr. of Albany, Ga., who has family in Polk County, died of natural causes associated with old age Monday (Dec. 6, 2004) at Heart of Florida Medical Center. He was 104.
Born in Albany, Ga., on Nov. 8, 1900, Mr. Harris moved to Albany from Jacksonville. He was a porter at a train station. He was a member of Hurst Chapel.
Mr. Harris is survived by his granddaughters, Lutricia Glenn and Brenda Cameron, both of Auburndale; grandsons, Mark Laster, Winter Haven, Edward Laster, Boise, Md., Clifford Laster, Dayton, Ohio; seven great grandchildren; many great great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Friday at James C. Boyd Funeral Home, 137 Ave. T N.E., Winter Haven. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hurst Chapel, 875 Ave. D N.E., Winter Haven.

WINTER HAVEN -- Mr. Gavin Philip George of Winter Haven died of kidney failure Wednesday (Dec. 8, 2004) at Winter Haven Hospital. He was 43.
He came to Polk County from Rhode Island in 1987.
Mr. George is survived by his wife, Elaine St. Jean George; stepdaughters, Melissa Sweeney, Pawtucket, R.I., Pamela Gagnier, Lincoln, R.I.; stepsons, Albert Sweeney and Brian Sweeney, both of Winter Haven; brother, Eddie George, Rhode Island; sisters, JoAnne and Betty Anne George, both of Rhode Island; three step grandchildren.

LAKELAND -- Mr. James P. Gallagher of Lakeland died of heart failure Tuesday (Dec. 7, 2004) at home. He was 88.
Born in Fargo, N.D., on Nov. 6, 1916, he came to Lakeland from Adrian, Mich., 20 years ago. He was the owner of Dot and Jacks Tavern in Michigan. He later worked for Caps Beverage in Michigan. He was a lifemember of the DAV, American Legion, Elks and Moose lodges in Michigan. He managed the Elks and Eagles lodges. He was a Catholic.
Mr. Gallagher is survived by his daughter, Patricia Cowell, Onsted, Mich.
