WINTER HAVEN -- Mrs. Irma Carey of Winter Haven died of heart failure Monday (Dec. 6, 2004) at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale. She was 80.
Born in Darmstadt, Germany, on March 23, 1924, she came to Winter Haven from Dexter, Mo., seven years ago. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Carey was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph John Carey.

HOOVER, Ala. -- Mrs. Mary Ruth Downey of Hoover, Ala., formerly of Polk County, died Monday (Dec. 6, 2004) at Shelby Ridge Nursing Home in Alabaster, Ala. She was 86.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lakeside Memorial Park, Winter Haven.

DOVER -- Mr. Thomas J. Zalys of Dover, who has family in Polk County and Plant City, died Thursday (Dec. 9, 2004) in Dover. He was 70.

LAKELAND -- Mr. Edgar H. Jorgensen of Lakeland died of complications following a stroke Wednesday (Dec. 8, 2004) in Lakeland. He was 86.
Born in Chicago on Nov. 3, 1918, he was a longtime resident of Lakeland. He was a truck driver for the city of Chicago.
Mr. Jorgensen is survived by his wife, Mildred Jorgensen; sons, Edward R. Jorgensen, Miami, Donald E. Jorgensen, St. Paul, Minn., Ricky J. Jorgensen, Mulberry, Robert C. Jorgensen, Valrico; brother, Chester Jorgensen, Naperville, Ill.; eight grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Hopewell Funeral Home, Plant City. Services will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home chapel.

LAKELAND -- Mrs. Bernice L. Morrow of Lakeland died of pneumonia Wednesday (Dec. 8, 2004) at Oakbridge Health Care at Good Shepherd Hospice. She was 87.
Born in Geneva, Ala., on June 17, 1917, she came to Lakeland from Turkey Creek in 1969. She was a certified nursing assistant. She was a member of Willow Oak Baptist Church.
Mrs. Morrow is survived by her daughter, Juanita Henderson, Lakeland; sons, Sam Morrow, Auburndale, Bill Morrow, Plant City; sister, Gladys Loyd, Plant City; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at A.M. Seigler Funeral Home, Highway 60 E., Mulberry. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home chapel.

PLANT CITY -- Ms. Lydia Rivera-Santana of Plant City died of heart failure Sunday (Dec. 5, 2004) in Brandon. She was 84.
Born in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, on Nov. 20, 1920, she came to Plant City from Puerto Rico two years ago. She was a hotel maid.
Ms. Rivera-Santana is survived by her son, Braulio Pacheco, New York; daughters, Basilia Santana, Josephine Pena, both of Plant City, Judy Pacheco, New York; brothers, Saul Rivera, Antonio Rivera, both of Puerto Rico; sisters, Carman Simmons, Puerto Rico, Maria Rivera, Connecticut; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Haught Funeral Home, Plant City. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home chapel.

LAKELAND -- Mr. Huey B. Messick of Lakeland died of cancer Monday (Dec. 6, 2004) in Lakeland. He was 65.
Born in Opp, Ala., on Nov. 18, 1939, he came to Lakeland at a young age. He worked for TECO for 26 years.
Mr. Messick is survived by his wife, Patricia Messick; mother, Pearl Messick, Plant City; daughter, Judy Faircloth, Lakeland; stepson, Tony Proctor, Plant City; stepdaughters, Sheryl Stanaland, Lakeland, Lisa Cooper, Plant City; sisters, Bonnie Carroll, and Mattie Taylor, both of Plant City, Gensie Sasser, and Della Bowman, both of Alabama; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

ZEPHYRHILLS -- Mr. Wayne M. Robbins of Zephyrhills died of cardiac arrest Thursday (Dec. 2, 2004) at Hospice House of Dade City. He was 71.
Born June 4, 1933, in Tampa, he was a lifelong resident of this area. He was a veteran of the Coast Guard. He was a beekeeper.
Mr. Robbins is survived by his wife, Louise Robbins; mother, Lucy Robbins, Dover; son, David Robbins, Minneapolis, Minn.; stepsons, Jerry Booth and James Booth, both of Plant City; daughter, Tami Pannel, Dover; brothers, Charles Robbins, Merritt Island, Kenneth Robbins, Plant City, Robert Robbins, Lakeland, George Robbins, Dover, Samuel Robbins, Lithia; sisters, Ruth Sterns, Lecanto, Vera Robbins, Canyon, Texas, Alice Arbuckle, Ormond Beach, Lynda Ray, Florence, S.C., Mary Stanaland, Durant; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

MULBERRY -- Mr. Lloyd Calvin Carmack of Mulberry died of complications from a stroke Friday (Dec. 3, 2004) in Plant City. He was 82.
Born Dec. 8, 1922, in Little Rock, Ark., he was a lifelong resident of this area. He was a member of Springhead Church of Christ.
Mr. Carmack is survived by his sons, Robert Carmack, Mitchell Carmack and Marty Carmack, all of Mulberry; four brothers; six sisters; and 13 grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Wells Memorial Chapel, Plant City. Services will follow at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
