FORT MEADE -- Mr. David Wayne Thompson of Fort Meade died of heart failure Monday (Dec. 13, 2004) at Bartow Memorial Hospital. He was 50.
Born in Marion, Ark., on June 13, 1954, he came to Fort Meade from Lakeland 11 years ago. He was a dragline oiler for IMC Phosphate. He was a Pentecostal.
Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, Cynthia Thompson; daughters, April Thompson, Fort Meade, Melissa Gardener, Polk City, Katherine Thompson, Winter Haven; sons, James Thompson, Winter Haven, David Eugene Collie Thompson, Fort Meade; brothers, Roy Robbins, West Virginia, Terry Thompson, Eloise, Richard Franklin Thompson, Louisiana; sisters, Denise Thompson, Winter Haven, Ruby Howard, Shirley Yancey, both of Edwardsburg, Mich.; seven grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 this evening at McLean Funeral Home, 306 E. Broadway, Fort Meade. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Meade.
CLYDE ALBRITTON, 84

BARTOW -- Mr. Clyde W. Albritton of Bartow died of heart failure Monday (Dec. 13, 2004) at Bartow Care Center. He was 84.
Born in Wauchula on Aug. 13, 1920, he came to Bartow from Hardee County many years ago. He was a truck driver for Florida's Natural. He was a veteran of World War II, having served as a private first class in Battery C of the 691st Field Artillery Battalion. He received the World War II Victory medal, Asian Theater of Operations medal, and Eameto Medal.
Mr. Albritton is survived by his caregiver, Bobby Phillips, Frostproof; one grandson; one great-grandson.

CLARENCE WEBB, 78

WINTER HAVEN -- Mr. Clarence E. Webb of Winter Haven died of heart failure Friday (Dec. 10, 2004) at Spring Lake Nursing Home, Winter Haven. He was 78.
Born July 7, 1926, in Jefferson, Texas, Mr. Webb came here from Tennessee in 1958. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. He was a lab director for Gessler Clinic, Winter Haven and Tri-County Medical. He was a member of the American Legion Post 8, Winter Haven; Masonic Lodge, Texas, and the Highway Patrol Auxiliary for 36 years.
Mr. Webb is survived by his son, Eddie Webb, Dundee; brother, Walter Webb, California; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home, Winter Haven. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
DANIEL VOGEL, 50

LAKELAND -- Mr. Daniel C. Vogel of Lakeland died of injuries suffered in an automobile crash Wednesday (Nov. 15, 2004) in Fort Pierce. He was 50.
Mr. Vogel was born in 1954 in Boston. He was an eductional adviser at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was president of the Florida Division of Vogel Bros. Building Co., Lakeland. He was active in the Lakeland YMCA, Paint Your Heart Out Lakeland, Habitat for Humanity, United Way, Margarita Ball, Ducks Unlimited, Associated General Contractors of America, Lakeland South Rotary, Camp Rotary, St. Paul's Lutheran Church and School and Lakeland Jr. Ice Warriors.
Mr. Vogel was preceded in death by his first wife, Debra Kay Mullis. He is survived by his wife, Jenny Joy; sons, Darren, Andrew, Ryan, Daniel; stepson, Andrew Townsend; parents, David and Patricia Vogel; brother, Peter; sisters, Katherine Littleton, Melissa Lawrence.
Services will be today at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Lakeland.

VERO BEACH -- Mr. Eugene Patrick Sweeney of Vero Beach died of cancer Friday (Dec. 10, 2004) at Indian River Memorial Hospital. He was 67.
Born March 30, 1937, in Pottsville, Pa., Mr. Sweeney came to Vero Beach from Fedhaven. He was a newspaper preservationist for the U.S. Library of Congress. He was a member of the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit, Lake Wales.
Mr. Sweeney is survived by his friend, Richard Pullen, Prince Frederick, Md.

LAKELAND -- Mrs. Claudette Leola Spencer of Lakeland died of heart failure Monday (Dec. 6, 2004) at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. She was 64.
Born Aug. 8, 1940, in Fort White, Mrs. Spencer came here from High Springs 37 years ago. She was a beautician. She was a member of Greater Refuge Church of Our Lord.
Mrs. Spencer is survived by her sons, Newin Spencer and Nuyen Spencer, both of Eaton Park; daughter, Sharonda Spencer, Eaton Park; sisters, Thelma Brown, Eaton Park, Sarah James, High Springs; three grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Coney Funeral Parlor Chapel. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Greater Refuge Church of Our Lord.

POLK CITY -- Mrs. Audrey Mae Love of Polk City died of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease Sunday (Dec. 12, 2004) at her home. She was 83.
Mrs. Love was a resident of Polk City for 12 years. She was a Methodist.
Mrs. Love was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Eugene Love. She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Pizzo, Miami, Patty Elliott and Elizabeth Hudson, both of Polk City; brothers, Frank Foster and Johnny Foster, both of LaBelle, Jimmy Foster, Tampa; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

LAKELAND -- Mr. Paul Henry Laws of Lakeland died of complications from diabetes Sunday (Dec. 12, 2004) at Oakbridge Health Care Center. He was 82.
Born Feb. 12, 1922, in Winchester, Tenn., Mr. Laws came here from High Point, N.C., in 1959. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a salesman. He was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church, Minister of Eucharist, Lakeland Optimist Club, Kiwanis of Mulberry and Dale Carnege of Lakeland.
Mr. Laws is survived by his wife, Phyllis Laws; daughters, Rebecca Culmer and Paula Keller, both of Lakeland; sisters, Ruby Brady, Lakeland, Marie Zust and Betty Langlitz, both of Port Orange; three grandchildren.

HILLSVILLE, Pa. -- Mr. Ryan Joseph Gierlach of Hillsville, Pa., who has family in Polk County, died in an automobile crash Friday (Dec. 10, 2004) in Butler, Pa. He was 16.
Mr. Gierlach was born June 13, 1988, in Tampa. He was a student. He was a member of Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Church.
He is survived by his mother, Debra Caraker Gierlach, Mulberry; father, Joseph D. Gierlach Jr., Hillsville; stepmother, Billie Jo Gierlach; stepbrothers, Justin Marker and Tyler Hill, both of Hillsville; stepsister, Grace Hill, Hillsville.
