WINTER HAVEN -- Mrs. Bessie Cleo Yates of Winter Haven died of lung cancer Sunday (Dec. 12, 2004) at Good Shepherd Hospice, Auburndale. She was 86.
Born Dec. 17, 1917, in Geneva County, Ala., she came to Polk County from Samson, Ala., in 1957. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Waverly Baptist Church.
Mrs. Yates was preceded in death by her husband, Cloies Yates. She is survived by her sons, Edward Yates, Waverly, Bueford Yates, Fort Pierce, Ernest Yates, Lake Wales; daughters, Jearldean Archie, Wahneta, Elizabeth Maynard and Doris Ritter, both of Winter Haven; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home, Winter Haven. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
KATHRYN LAKE, 85

WINTER HAVEN -- Mrs. Kathryn D. Lake of Winter Haven died of cancer Thursday (Dec. 9, 2004) at Good Shepherd Hospice Care Center. She was 85.
Born Nov. 25, 1919, in Chicago, she came to Winter Haven in 1986. She was an accountant for Walgreens. She was a member and deacon of Lake Alfred Presbyterian Church for 18 years.
Mrs. Lake is survived by her husband, Alfred Lake; son, Dr. Richard Lake, Bartow; daughter, Janet L. Parker, Greenville, Maine; one granddaughter; and one great grandson.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home, Auburndale.

MULBERRY -- Mr. Robert Lamar Edwards of Mulberry died of heart failure Saturday (Dec. 11, 2004). He was 83.
Born Dec. 30, 1920, in Hinsonton, Ga., he came here from Bradley six years ago. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the European Theater. He was a maintenance mechanic for Agrico. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Bradley.
Mr. Edwards is survived by his wife, Wanda Watson Edwards; sons, Randall Edwards, White Springs, Denis Edwards, Oldsmar; daughter, Sandra Messer, Mulberry; brothers, O.B. Edwards and Pearce Edwards, both of Auburndale, Jack Edwards, Norman, Okla.; sisters, Christine Hornsby and Louise Haley, both of Auburndale; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Seigler Funeral Home, Mulberry. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

WINTER HAVEN -- Ms. Foye Virginia Dent of Winter Haven died of congestive heart failure Saturday (Dec. 11, 2004) at Winter Haven Hospital. She was 83.
Ms. Dent was born Feb. 21, 1921, in Lyons, Ga. She was a clerk for Winter Haven Hospital. She was a Baptist.
Ms. Dent was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe Dent. She is survived by her sons, Larry T. Dent, Babson Park, Raymond Dent, Winter Haven; brother, Tommy Powell, Carlton, Ga.; sister, Uldine Hunter, Winter Haven; two grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Glen Abbey Cemetery.

LAKE WALES -- Mrs. Ruby McClendon Bradley of Lake Wales died of heart failure Thursday (Dec. 9, 2004) at Bartow Memorial Hospital. She was 89.
Born June 15, 1915, in Ambrose, Ga., she came here from Ambrose in 1922. She worked for the Polk County School Board. She was a member of First Institutional Missionary Baptist Church and was involved in the Senior Women Ministry and Sunday school. She was a charter member of Choir 2 for 80 years.
Mrs. Bradley was preceded in death by her husband, James Bradley Sr. She is survived by her son, James Bradley Jr., Lake Wales, 14 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at First Institutional Baptist Church. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

HAINES CITY -- Mr. Clarence C. Wright of Haines City died of heart failure Friday (Dec. 10, 2004). He was 77.
Born Nov. 15, 1927, in Nokomis, Ill., he came here 12 years ago from Illinois. He was a veteran of the Air Force, serving in World War II. He was the owner of Stoney Creek Resort in Virginia. He was a manager for Coca-Cola for 17 years. He was a member of E.L. Kahir Shriners, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was a 32-degree member of the Scottish Rite, Fort Wayne, Ind. He was a member of Masonic Lodge, Grand Lodge 456, F&AM; in Illinois and Landmark Baptist Church, Haines City.
Mr. Wright is survived by his wife of 28 years, Donna Neumann Wright; sons, Randy L. Wright, Parker, Ariz., David A. Wright, Havasu City, Ariz.; stepson, Rick W. Grant, Nokomis; daughters, Debor ah Gatti, Peoria, Ariz., Kathleen A. Augsburger, Fulton, Ill.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Landmark Baptist Church, Haines City.

DUNDEE -- Ms. Ruby Lee Glover of Dundee died of complications from Alzheimer's disease Thursday (Dec. 9, 2004) at Brandywyne Nursing Center, Winter Haven. She was 86.
Ms. Glover was born Jan. 25, 1918, in Wigman, Ga. She was a citrus worker. She was a Baptist.
Ms. Glover was preceded in death by her husband, Roleather Glover. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Benfield, Dundee, Diane Bertsch, Lakeland, Joyce Nielson, Tallahassee, Francis Abrams, Fort Myers; son, James Hogan, Dundee; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home, Auburndale. Services will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

WINTER HAVEN -- Mr. Joe Jarrell "Jerry" Burchett of Winter Haven died of heart failure Friday (Dec. 10, 2004) at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. He was 65.
Mr. Burchett was a veteran of the Navy. He was a dental technician. He was a member of Rifle Range Baptist Church.
Mr. Burchett is survived his wife, Thelma Burchett; sons, Jarrell David Burchett, Lakeland, James Franklin Burchett, Winter Haven; sister, Emma Suellen Cone, Tallahassee; brother, Franklin David Burchett, Ocala; three grandchildren.
