LAKE WALES -- Mrs. Geraldine O. Marquis of Lake Wales died of cancer Monday (April 4, 2005) in Lake Wales. She was 74.
Born in Berlin, N.H., on April 18, 1930, she came to Lake Wales from there 11 years ago. She was a retired bank manager. She was active in the Towerwood Fun Makers and Chorus. She was a member of the Council of Catholic Women, a Eucharistic minister and a member of the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit in Lake Wales.
Mrs. Marquis is survived by her husband of 54 years, Philip D. Marquis; daughters, Sharon Doble, Gorham, N.H., Sandy Marquis, Berlin, N.H.; son, Daniel Marquis, Owensboro, Ky.; sisters, Madeline Charest, West Hartford, Conn., Mary Tumasz, Everett, Mass.; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday with the Most Holy Rosary to be recited at 5:30 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Lake Wales. Services will be held in Berlin under the direction of Bryant Funeral Home.

LAKELAND -- Mrs. Addie Rubertie of Lakeland died of lung failure Wednesday (March 30, 2005) at home. She was 78.
Born in Northville, Ky., on Sept. 4, 1926, Mrs. Rubertie became a winter resident of Lakeland in 1999, coming from Broadalbin, N.Y. She was a retired waitress for Holiday Inn in Johnstown, N.Y.
Mrs. Rubertie was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Ruberti. She is survived by her daughters, Valerie Noble, Cynthia Tripepi, both of Broadalbin, Toni Edwards, Mayfield, N.Y., Teresa Hale, Lakeland; sisters, Dorothy Esposito, Broadalbin, Shirley Chippi, Wichita Falls, Texas, Naoma Bushen, Buffalo, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grand-children.
Services and burial will be in Broadalbin, N.Y.

TALMADGE JONES, 81

LAKE WALES -- Mr. W. Talmadge Jones died of heart failure Thursday (March 31, 2005) at Lake Wales Medical Center. He was 81.
Born in Barney, Ga., on Aug. 8, 1923, he came to Lake Wales from Babson Park in 1930. He was a former policeman for the Lake Wales Police Department. He also worked for the Polk County Sheriff's Department. He was a veteran of World War II, having received the Purple Heart, Asia Theatre of Operations medal, and Asian Pacific Theatre of Operations medal. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Lake Wales.
Mr. Jones is survived by his wife, Joan H. Jones; daughter, Kimberly A. Johnson, Lake Wales; son, Frank H. Jones, Lake Wales; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Marion Nelson Funeral Home of Lake Wales. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Lake Wales. Burial will follow in Lake Wales Cemetery.

LAKELAND -- Mrs. Mary Ann Brown of Lakeland died of cancer Friday (March 25, 2005) at Tandem Healthcare at Lake Parker. She was 63.
Born in Lakeland, Mrs. Brown worked in housekeeping for Florida Presbyterian Homes. She was formerly employed by Florida Southern College and Morrison's Cafeteria. She was formerly a member of Harmony Baptist Church.
Mrs. Brown is survived by her daughter, April Walker, Lakeland; sons, Karl Brown, Patrick Brown, both of Lakeland; mother, Mary L. Brown, Lakeland; sisters, Myrtice Brown, June Zipperer, Lutricia Brooks, all of Lakeland; brother, Henry Brown Jr., Lakeland; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Coney Funeral Parlor Inc., Lakeland. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Pilgrim Rest Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

FROSTPROOF -- Mr. Robert M. Vander Velde of Frostproof died of cancer Tuesday (March 29, 2005). He was 65.
Born in Grand Rapids, Mich., he came to Frostproof from Michigan in 1995. He was a mechanic.
Mr. Vander Velde is survived by his wife, Judy L. Vander Velde; father, Jacob Vander Velde, Sarasota; daughters, Robin Lindeman, Joyce MacKay and Nancy Kuhr, all of Manistee, Mich., Polly Alcorn, Talbot, Tenn., Shannon Pollett, Holland, Mich.; sons, Bobby Vander Velde, Jim Vander Velde, both of Grand Rapids; stepson, Mike Sutter, Grant, Mich.; stepdaughter, Rhonda Atwood, Casnovia, Mich.; sister, Joyce Vander Velde, Grand Rapids; brother, Jay Vander Velde, Frostproof; many grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
Memorial services will be April 16 at Bailey Christian Church in Bailey, Mich.

LAKE WALES -- Mrs. Martha Jane Travis of Lake Wales died of heart failure Tuesday (March 29, 2005) at Haines City Healthcare. She was 96.
Born in Tippecanoe County, Ind., on Jan. 9, 1909, Mrs. Travis came to Lake Wales from Lafayette, Ind., in 1997. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Lafayette.
Mrs. Travis was preceded in death by her husband, J. Robert Travis. She is survived by her daughter, Betty Jane Loy, Lake Wales; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
Services and burial will be in Lafayette, Ind., under the direction of Fisher-Loy Funeral Chapel.

DADE CITY -- Mr. John S. Raulerson of Dade City, formerly of Lakeland, died of pneumonia March 22, 2005, in Brooksville. He was 64.
Born in Florida on Nov. 5, 1940, Mr. Raulerson lived in Lakeland for many years before moving to Dade City. He was a retired railroad man.
Mr. Raulerson is survived by his daughters, Jamie Raulerson, Dade City, Tina Raulerson, Davie; one granddaughter.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Whitfield Funeral Home.
