WINTER HAVEN -- Mr. Eddie "Bo" Smith's 30-year career with GTE began the day after he graduated from Winter Haven High School in 1958.
The retired phone company supervisor died of cancer Wednesday (March 30, 2005) at home. He was 65.
"He was a supervisor of communications for GTE, " said his wife of 20 years, Marilyn Smith.
He was born in Eloise on Dec. 17, 1939, and grew up in Polk County. After his retirement from GTE, Mr. Smith and his wife moved to Georgia, where they fulfilled a longtime goal.
"We started four different businesses and stayed there for 12 years, " Marilyn Smith said. "We had two produce markets and two restaurants. He always loved a challenge."
The couple returned to Lakeland briefly before moving to New Port Richey and, eventually, returning to Winter Haven.
His wife described him as a humorous and energetic person who was an avid gardener. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, yard sales and finding a good bargain.
He was a member and past master of the Winter Haven Masonic Lodge. He was active with the Lions Club and played on their fast-pitch softball team, traveling the state with the team in the 1970s.
Mr. Smith belonged to Winter Haven Rotary. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Winter Haven.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Smith is survived by his son, Tony Smith, Taccoa, Ga.; stepson, Mark White, Kingsport, Tenn.; daughters, Viki McDonald, Taccoa, Dawn Loetscher, Lakeland; stepdaughters, Constance White, Dianne Sims, both of Kingsport, Selene White, Mount Clare, W.Va.; mother, Gertrude Smith, Winter Haven; sister, Jackie Taylor, Winter Haven; brother, Rocky Smith, Winter Haven; three grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Friday at OttLaughlin Funeral Home, Winter Haven. Services will follow at noon at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Plant City.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice.
Robert Dahn, 70

LAKELAND -- Mr. Robert Ronald Dahn of Lakeland died of lung cancer Monday (March 28, 2005) at East Pasco Medical Center in Zephyrhills. He was 70.
Born in Romeo, Mich., on March 29, 1934, Mr. Dahn came to Lakeland from there five years ago. He was an Air Force veteran and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mr. Dahn is survived by his wife, Marilyn Miller Dahn; daughter, Linda L. Burke, Tampa; son, Glen Dahn, Hernando Beach.
Graveside services with military honors will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.

AUBURNDALE -- Mrs. Maricela Rodriguez Gutierrez of Auburndale died of injuries sustained in a car crash Tuesday (March 29, 2005) in Auburndale. She was 52.
Born in Aguascalientes, Mexico, on June 15, 1952, Mrs. Gutierrez came to Auburndale from Mexico three years ago. She was a dressmaker in Mexico. She was a member of Centro Guadalupano Catholic Church.
Mrs. Gutierrez is survived by her sons, Albert Diaz Rodriguez, Marisol Diaz Gutierrez, both of Aguascalientes, Gustavo Diaz Rodriguez, Auburndale; father, Francisco Xavier Rodriguez, Aguascalientes; four brothers and sisters; three grandchildren.
Visitation with a rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Centro Campesino, 318 W. Bridgers Ave., Auburndale. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Centro Guadalupano Catholic Church, 2150 State Road 559, Wahneta.

RIVER RANCH -- Mr. Harry Leonard Shuffstall Jr. of River Ranch died of cancer Thursday (March 31, 2005) at home. He was 74.
Born in Franklin, Pa., on July 1, 1930, he came to River Ranch from Oil City, Pa., in 1992. He was a plant manager for Joy Manufacturing for 37 years. He was instrumental in the lighting of Miller Sibley Little League Field. He was a member of the Elks, Rocky Grove Volunteer Fire Department, and the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club. He was past president of the Franklin Club. He was an associate member of the River Ranch Chapel and a member of Second Presbyterian Church in Oil City, Pa.
Mr. Shuffstall is survived by his wife of 54 years, Wanda J. Shuffstall; daughter, Diane Johnson, Altamonte Springs; sons, John Shuffstall, Pompano Beach, Jeff Shuffstall, Oil City, Philip Shuffstall, Emlenton, Pa.; brother, Robert Shuffstall, Franklin, Pa.; sister, Rosalie Lesh; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 11 this morning at River Ranch Chapel. Burial will be in Franklin Cemetery in Franklin, Pa.

TAMPA -- Mr. William Ralph Bill Davies of Tampa, who has family in Polk County, died of cancer Monday (March 28, 2005) in Tampa. He was 60.
Born in St. Petersburg on June 11, 1944, Mr. Davies was a lifelong resident of Florida. He graduated from Florida State University. He was a retired career educator who served as a teacher, district office administrator and assistant superintendent. He later directed an education consulting firm that provides schools with training.
Mr. Davies is survived by his sons, Christopher Mann, Scott Davies, both of Tampa, Bradford Davies, of Winter Haven; sisters, Jean Coffill, Tampa, Gloria Lewis and Nancy Kendall, both of Lakeland; brother, Michael Davies, Tampa; one grandson.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Lakeland.

WINTER HAVEN -- Mr. Aharon Hans Dieter Rotenberg of Winter Haven died of heart failure Wednesday (March 30, 2005) at Winter Haven Hospital. He was 71.
Born in Strahlsund, Germany, on Dec. 6, 1933, Mr. Rotenberg came to Winter Haven from Philadelphia in 2000. He was a computer analyst for PNC Bank. He was a member of Beth Shalom Temple.
Mr. Rotenberg is survived by his wife, Varda B. Rotenberg; sons, Victor Rotenberg, Noewark, Del., Eli Rotenberg, Oakland, Calif.; two grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 this morning at Rolling Hills Cemetery.
