WINTER HAVEN -- Mr. Clarence "Bud" Hembrook of Marshfield, Wis., died of heart failure Saturday (April 23, 2005) in Winter Haven. He was 82.
Born Aug. 6, 1922, in Waukesha, Wis., he had been a winter resident of Winter Haven since 1983. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in World War II. He was a technician for Waukesha Motor Works in Wisconsin. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 721 in Waukesha. He was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran church.
Mr. Hembrook is survived by his wife, Mary Hembrook; sons, William Hembrook, Marshfield; daughter, Kathy Fidler, East Troy, Wis.; brother, Dale Hembrook, Austin, Texas; three grandchildren.
Services will be held later in Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, 1910 Havendale Blvd., N.W. Winter Haven, FL.

JESSE MOTE, 42
PLANT CITY -- Mr. Jesse Allen Mote of Plant City died of pneumonia Saturday (April 23, 2005) at Jacaranda Manor, St. Petersburg. He was 42.
Born Dec. 6, 1962, in Greensboro, he came to Plant City from Moultrie, Ga. in 1985.
Mr. Mote is survived by his sisters, Catherine Mote and Nancy Elizabeth Mote, both of Plant City, and Polly Mote-Henry, Gloster, N.J.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home, Auburndale. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Manuel Medeiros, 83, Florida Gas Co.
LAKELAND -- Mr. Manuel M. "Pete" Medeiros of Lakeland, an office manager for Florida Gas Co. who was the son of Portuguese immigrants, died Saturday (April 23, 2005) at the Rohr Home of complications from Alzheimer's disease. He was 83.
Born Oct. 13, 1921, in New Bedford, Mass., Mr. Medeiros came here from there in 1941.
His parents moved from the Azores, a Portugese island territory in the Atlantic, and settled in New Bedford, which had a prospering Portuguese and whaling community, said his son, Gerald W. Medeiros.
"He grew up speaking Portuguese, " his son said, but when he left Massachusetts for Florida he retained a faint New England accent.
"He had to adapt to different food and culture, " his son said. "He adapted well."
Mr. Medeiros was a member of a national barbershop quartet organization and performed at The Lakeland Center and Florida Southern College.
"He loved to sing. He was also a member of his church choir, " his son said. The church, now called Presbyterian Chapel in the Grove, began in a house. Mr. Medeiros was a charter member.
He also enjoyed golfing and his grandchildren.
"He was good with children, they loved to be around him, " his son said.
He was an office manager for Florida Gas Co.
Mr. Medeiros was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving in World War II and the Korean War.
He was a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Cleveland Heights Golf and Country Club.
Mr. Medeiros is survived by his wife, Thelma M. Medeiros; son, Gerald W. Medeiros, Lakeland; daughter, Donna Medeiros, Lakeland; sister, Mary Messier, New Bedford, Mass.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Gentry-Morrison Southside Chapel and 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Presbyterian Chapel in the Grove. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

HOMELAND -- Mr. Brady Alan Wimberly of Homeland died of heart failure Friday (April 22, 2005). He was 43.
Born Oct. 31, 1961, in Bartow, he was a lifelong resident of Homeland. He was a truck driver. He was a member of Homeland First Baptist Church.
Mr. Wimberly is survived by his wife, Glenda Wimberly, Homeland; son, Harley Wimberly, Homeland; father, Edward Wimberly Sr., Homeland; mother, Bonnie Weldon, Bartow; brother, Edward Wimberly Jr., Bartow; sister, Tina Chumney, Bartow; grandmothers, Elizabeth Wimberly, Lakeland, Lorraine Willis, Ocala; four grandchildren.

BARTOW -- Mrs. Ernestine T. Turvey of Bartow died of heart failure Thursday (April 21, 2005). She was 79.
Mrs. Turvey was born Feb. 25, 1926, in Gadsden County. She worked in food service. She was a member of the Church of God.
Mrs. Turvey was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Langford. She is survived by her sons, Billy Bryant and Jerry Bryant, both of Plant City; daughters, Joyce Mitchell, Brandon, Christine Hubbard, Tampa, Carolyn Ann McClain, Georgia, Diana Sue Jones, Plant City; brother, Ellis Harvell, Tampa; sister, Elizabeth Craven, Georgia; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Wells Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

LAKELAND -- Mrs. Marjorie Cecelia Walters of Lakeland died of heart failure Friday (April 22, 2005). She was 62.
Born Sept. 11, 1942, in Minneapolis, Minn., she came here from Litchfield, Minn., in 1998. She was a sales clerk for Lowe's in Lakeland.
Mrs. Walters was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Walters. She is survived by her sons, Marc Walters, Litchfield, Gary Larson, Lakeland; daughters, Rhonda Rohrbeck, Watkins, Minn., Carol Renn, Prior Lake, Minn., Donelle Rohlfing, LeSeur, Minn.; brothers, Wally "Butch" Sanford and Bobby Sanford, both of Minnesota; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Plant City Community Church of the Nazarene.

WINTER HAVEN -- Ms. Grace Stanley of Winter Haven died of heart failure Friday (April 22, 2005) at Life Care Center of Winter Haven. She was 93.
Born June 16, 1911, in Wellston, Ohio, she came here in 1964. She was a nurse at Winter Haven Hospital for 20 years. She was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
Ms. Stanley is survived by her son, Norris Stanley, Seven Lakes, N.C.; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
