Marion Kathryn Fowble, 84, of Harbour Heights, Fla., formerly a longtime resident of Hobart, Ind., passed away Sunday, June 10, 2001.
She was born in Gary, Ind., on Aug. 29, 1916. Mrs. Fowble was past president of Gary Junior Women's Federated Club and a charter member of the Lake Federated Club of Hobart, Ind.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, William (Don) Fowble; four sons, William (Rose) Fowble Jr. of Valparaiso, Ind., Robert (Judy) Fowble of Tampa, Fla., Larry (Barb) Fowble of Hobart, Ind., and Jim (Sue) Fowble of Hobart; one sister, Helen (Clifford) Sherrard of Arcadia, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Fowble was predeceased by her daughter, Barbara Ray.
A memorial service will be held at the Christ Community United Methodist Church today at 11 a.m.

Mary King
Mary King, 90, of Punta Gorda, Fla., a John Robert Powers model and former wife of motion picture actor, Tom D'Andrea, died June 9, 2001, in Venice, Fla.
She was born on Nov. 16, 1910, in Chicago, Ill. She remarried in 1939 to Michael Paul King, a prominent Chicago restaurateur. In 1950 they moved to Miami Beach, Fla., with their two children. Their son attended Rollins College at Winter Park, Fla., and the daughter was a student at the University of Florida. Michael King passed away in 1973.
Mary King leaves a daughter, Maureen Garrard of Punta Gorda; a son, Tom D'Andrea of Punta Gorda; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Interment will be in Miami. No local services are planned.

Robert F. Armstrong
Robert F. Armstrong, 72, of North Port, Fla., died June 11, 2001, at his home.
He was born on Sept. 5, 1928, in Oneida, N.Y., to Clarence and Ina Norton Armstrong. He came here 16 years ago from Oneida. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a firefighter in Oneida and retired after serving 25 years.
He is survived by his wife, Jane (Wheeler) Armstrong of North Port; five daughters, Karen Lewis of Verona, N.Y., Diane Armstrong of Anderson, S.C., Judy Maiura of Canastota, N.Y., Susan Armstrong of Oneida and Lori Brown of Oneida; a half-brother, John Boylan of Stillwater, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
There is no service scheduled at this time. Arrangements are by James A. McKee Funeral Homes, North Port.
John Francis Strothers
John "Jack" Francis Strothers, 65, of North Port, Fla., beloved husband and adored father and grandfather, passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2001 in Venice, Fla.
He was born Feb. 26, 1936 in Worcester, Mass. and came to North Port in October of 1992. He served in the Army Massachusetts National Guard for 39 years and returned as a command seargeant major.
His military awards include the Massachusetts Emergency Ribbon, the Massachusetts Service Medal, the Silver Star Award, Gold Eagle Device Award, Massachusetts Meritorious Unit Commendation Emblem, Massachusetts Medal of Merit Ribon, and the Infantry Shoulder Cord.
He attended NCO Academy in Reading, Mass., and studied personnel maintenance and retention management.
He belonged to several community organizations, including: Chamber of Commerce, Boys and Girls Club, Big Brother and Big Sister, M.D.A., and the Loyal Order of the Moose 764. He received many awards for his work and dedication in these organizations.
Jack is survived by his wife, Carolina, who he referred to as "Cd" Strothers; his son, John C. Strothers; a daughter-in-law, Jennifer; a daughter, Marcia B. Ellison of North Port, Fla.; and granddaughters Samantha and Alexandra Strothers of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Margaret Ellison of North Port; a sister, Bernice Berry of Auburn, Mass; a brother, Ralph Strothers of Worcester; a sister, Mary Babbidge of Sarasota, Fla.; and nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call from 4-5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Farley Funeral Home, North Port Chapel.

Marian Agen
Marian Agen, 88, of Port Charlotte Fla., died June 9, 2001, in Gainesville, Fla.
She was born April 9, 1913, in Lebanon, Pa. She was a retired registered nurse and a graduate of the New York Post-Graduate Hospital Nursing School.
She was in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps from March 1943 to June of 1947. She was a nurse at the Veterans Administration from 1948 until she retired in 1974, when she moved to Port Charlotte from Miami, Fla.
She was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Charlotte. She volunteered for the Friends of the Library snack and bookshop and the Health Plus thrift shop.
She is survived by one sister, Ruth Agen of Philadelphia, Pa.
Everette O. Hann
Everette O. Hann, 83, of Punta Gorda, Fla., died June 9, 2001, at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Fla., after a lengthy illness.
He was born May 28, 1918, in Hammond, Ind. A graduate of Purdue University, he worked as a chemical engineer with the U.S. Department of Defense at Joliet Arsenal in Illinois and Piccatinny Arsenal, N.J. He had been a resident of Florida for 23 years coming from Dover, N.J.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Scherer Hann of Punta Gorda; a sister, June Goddard of Munster, Ind.; three sons, William Hann of Dover, James Hann of Half Moon Bay, Calif. and John Hann of Ogensburg, N.J.; three daughters, Peggy Betancourt of Tampa, Fla.; Mary Wilde of Syracuse, N.Y.; and Linda Burnette of San Diego, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two grandchildren, Andrew Wilde and Kira Herbert, the daughter of James Hann.
Calling hours will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Paul Schelm Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the Christ Community United Methodist Church where he was a member.

Mary Hansen
Mary Hansen, 92, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died June 9, 2001, at her residence in Port Charlotte.
She was born Nov. 12, 1908, in Coatbridge, Scotland and came to Port Charlotte 38 years ago from Washington, DC. Mrs. Hansen was a homemaker, a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, an avid bingo player at the Port Charlotte Cultural Center and the American Legion and was a member of the Port Charlotte United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her son, Frank (Elaine Collins) Hansen of Port Charlotte; a daughter, Sonja Louise (Robert T.) Skelton of Salisbury, N.C.; a sister, Gracie Burt of Edinburgh, Scotland; three grandchildren, Bruce Svend Brown of Palm Harbor, Fla., Jeffrey John Brown of Birmingham, Ala., and Amanda Faith Hansen Ross of Silver Spring, Md.,; a great-grandchild, Kathryn Brooke Ross of Silver Spring; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hansen was preceded in death by her husband, Svend Hansen, in 1985.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Paul Schelm Funeral Home, Port Charlotte.

Donald L. Stealey
Donald Louis Stealey, 73, of Rotonda West, Fla., died Saturday, June 9, 2001, at his residence.
Born on Oct. 5, 1927, in Wooster, Ohio, to Louis and Mabel (Campbell) Stealey, he had been a resident of the Englewood area for 13 years. Originally, he moved to Don Pedro Island from Tampa when he retired in 1985.
Mr. Stealey was a claims manager for the Travelers Insurance Company and worked in the Orlando, Jacksonville and Tampa region for thirty years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Stealey of Rotonda West; two sons, David L. Stealey of Dallas, Texas and Daniel L. Stealey of Rotonda West; one brother, Gene Stealey of Mobile, Ala.; two step-brothers, Wallace and William Briggs; one step-sister, Patty Flanders; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Englewood Community Funeral Home, 3070 South McCall Road, with the Reverend William "Bill" Nelson, Associate Pastor of Englewood United Methodist Church, officiating.

Paul Larue Worley, Jr.
Paul Larue Worley, Jr., 77, of Arcadia, Fla., passed away at his home Saturday, June 9, 2001.
He was born Nov. 25, 1923, in Arcadia, DeSoto County, Fla. He was retired from the military service, serving in World War II with the U.S. Marine Corp. and the U.S. Air Force for 22 years.
He was a graduate of the DeSoto County High School class of 1942. He was a life-long resident of DeSoto County and a member of the First Baptist Church in Nocatee, Fla.
He is survived by his wife, Hanako Worley of Arcadia; his mother, Elsie Worley of Arcadia; one daughter, Linda (Newt) Keen of Arcadia; three brothers, Jere Worley of Fort Ogden, Fla., Ned Worley of Sebring, Fla. and Joe Worley of Miami, Fla.; four sisters, Wanda Pieper of Arcadia, Martha Queen of Tampa, Fla., Sandra Finley of Arcadia, Evelyn Lambert of Alexandria, Tenn.; and one granddaughter, Kristen Keen of Arcadia.
A visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home, 50 North Hillsborough Ave. in Arcadia. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home Chapel in Arcadia with the Reverend Mark Baskin officiating.
A burial will follow in Joshua Creek Cemetary, Arcadia, with military honors by the DeSoto County Veterans Honor Guard.

Billy C. Chapman, Sr.
Billy C. Chapman, Sr., 84, of Punta Gorda, Fla., died June 9, 2001.
He was born on March 27, 1917, in Portage, Pa. and moved to this area in 1971 from Lorain, Ohio. Mr. Chapman was a retired policeman with the Lorain Police Force. He was a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity in Immokalee, Fla., a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the American Legion in Punta Gorda. He attended the First Presbyterian Church of Punta Gorda and served in the Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Norma; two sons, Billy C. Chapman, Jr., of Baton Rouge, La., and David J. Chapman of Section, La.; one sister, Louise Garlock of Fort Myers, Fla.; three brothers, Allan Collins of Johnstown, Pa., James Chapman of Cincinnati, Ohio and Jack Chapman of Lorain, Ohio; two grandchildren, Billy C. Chapman III of New Orleans, La. and Michelle Chapman of Atlanta, Ga.; one great-grandchild, Haley Chapman of Atlanta; and devoted Aunt Mary Chapman of Lorain.

Charles J. Cooper, Jr.
Charles J. Cooper, Jr., 73, of Punta Gorda, Fla., died Wednesday, June 6, 2001, at Charlotte Regional Medical Center in Punta Gorda.
He was born Nov. 10, 1927, in Oakhill, Ohio, and moved to Punta Gorda in 1979 from Mentor, Ohio. He was a retired tool & die machinist for Fisher Body, General Motors Corp., Cleveland, Ohio.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army and also in the Merchant Marines.
He is survived by a son, Robert C. Cooper of Columbus, Ohio; two half brothers, Stanley Menchyk of Easley, S.C. and John Menchyk of Andover, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, who died in 1993.
Graveside services and interment will be held today at 11 a.m. at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Port Charlotte. Chaplain Larry Pope will officiate. Military honors will be by the U.S. Army.
