Pauline B. "Polly" Hamstreet, 82, of Lake Suzy, Fla., died Saturday, May 28, 2005, at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte, Fla.
She was born Aug. 4, 1922, in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Pauline was the head secretary for Ottawa Hills High School for 15 years and retired in 1983. She came to Lake Suzy in 1985 as a winter resident before moving there full time in 1989 from East Grand Rapids, Mich. Her hobbies were playing bridge, sewing, crafts and golf. She was an active member of the Kingsway Ladies Association since 1989.
Pauline is survived by Thomas of Petersburg, Mich., and David of Wyoming, Mich.; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Wilbur.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2005, at the Elks Club of Port Charlotte 2153, 225 Kenilworth Ave., Port Charlotte. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.

Dorothy Ellen Adams
Dorothy Ellen Adams, 95, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died May 27, 1999, at South Port Square in Port Charlotte.
She was born Jan. 26, 1904, in Pittsburgh, Pa., and moved to Port Charlotte in 1970 from Melrose, Mass. She was a member of Pilgrim United Church of Christ, Port Charlotte.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Jo Pochop of Westford, Vt.; two sons, Richard E. Adams of Tampa and Donald F. Adams of Sugarland, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. June 19 at the South Port Square Town Hall, Port Charlotte. The Rev. Matthew Neumann of Pilgrim United Church of Christ will officiate.

James M. Bates
James M. Bates, 85, of Richmond, Ky., formerly of Charlotte County, and the husband of Maude McLaughlin Bates, died May 27, 1999, at Pattie A. Clay Hospital.
Mr. Bates was a native of Swan, Iowa. He was a member of First Christian Church, Richmond, Ky. and retired as president of Ohio State Life Insurance of Columbus, Ohio. He received his bachelor's degree from Simpson College in Pleasantville, Iowa, and completed his master's at Iowa State University. He was a member of Richmond Rotary Club, Eastern Actuarial Society, Past Commodore of the Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club in Port Charlotte, Fla., and past president of the Punta Gorda Golf Club, Punta Gorda, Fla.
Survivors include his wife, Maude McLaughlin Bates of Richmond, Ky.; son, James M. Bates Jr. of Oklahoma City, Okla.; brother, Wendell Bates of Lacona, Iowa; three grandchildren, John, Maria and Cristina Bates; and nephew, Daryl Bates of Miami, Okla.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. May 31. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. June 1 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, Richmond, Ky., with Dr. Daryl Bates and Dr. Robert Stauffer officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.
Mary M. Coughlin
Mary M. Coughlin, 90, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died May 27, 1999, at Bon Secours-St. Joseph Hospital in Port Charlotte.
Born June 30, 1908, in Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Coughlin came to Port Charlotte 17 years ago from Leesburg, Fla. She was a principal at the elementary school level. She attended St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Port Charlotte.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews, including John Berry of Central Lake, Mich., and Ann Tripp of Fairfield Glade, Tenn.
Memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. June 1 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Place of burial is Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield, Mich.

M. Jacqueline Dresher
M. Jacqueline (Boutilier) Dresher, 59, of Marion Bridge, Mira, died May 8, 1999, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Ben Boutilier and Annie Payne, who is a resident of Seaview Manor. Jackie's career as a teacher began at Caledonia School and continued there until her retirement in 1972. She was a longtime member of St. Mary's Anglican Church and Friends of Seaview Manor, Glace Bay.
She is survived by brothers, Bill (Shirley) of Marion Bridge, Roy (Donna) and Benjamin (Sara) of Glace Bay; sisters, Marie (Mrs. Bernie MacInnis) of Marion Bridge and Paula (Mrs. Frank MacLean) of Glace Bay; 13 nieces and nephews; eight grandnieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Dresher of Port Charlotte, Fla.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place.

Gerald L. Haas
Gerald L. Haas, 42, of Punta Gorda, Fla., died May 28, 1999.
Born Sept. 4, 1949, in Olean, N.Y., he had lived here since 1955, coming from Pennsylvania. He was a commercial construction worker before he was permanently disabled in a construction accident 20 years ago.
Survivors include his parents, Gene and Shirley Haas of Harbour Heights, Fla.; a daughter, Nichole of Florida; two sons, Kevin of Punta Gorda and Jeramey of Georgia; two sisters, Robin Scoles of Punta Gorda and Sue Tice of Fort Myers; and three grandchildren.
There will be no local visitation. Memorial service will be announced later. Burial will be private. Arrangements are by Kays-Ponger Funeral Home, Port Charlotte Chapel.
Catherine A. Kraft
Catherine A. Kraft, 74, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died May 22, 1999.
Born Oct. 26, 1924, in Wilmington, N.C., she moved to this area 25 years ago from Franklin Hills, Mich. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Kraft was an avid bingo player.
Survivors include a daughter, Marsha Sears of California; two sons, John of Port Charlotte and Robert of Michigan; brother, John Murray of North Carolina; and four grandchildren.

Agnes Adelaide Hughes
Agnes Adelaide Hughes, 88, of North Port, Fla., died May 27, 1999.
She was born Sept. 25, 1910, in Washington, D.C. She came to this area in 1971 from Prince George County, Md. She was a member of San Pedro Catholic Church in North Port.
She is survived by her son, Howard Joseph Hughes Jr. of Harpers Ferry, W. Va.; two daughters, Audrey R. Downing of Huntingtown, Md., and Noreen P. Lee of Burk, Va.; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. May 31, at Farley Funeral Home, North Port Chapel. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. June 1 at San Pedro Catholic Church in North Port. Burial will follow at Venice Memorial Gardens. Curtis Owen Warner
Curtis Owen Warner, 89, of North Port, Fla., died May 28, 1999, at home.
He was born on March 30, 1910, in Rochester, N.Y., to George and Marie Warner. He came here 27 years ago from Rochester. He owned a liquor store in Rochester. Mr. Warner was a World War II Army veteran. He was a great father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by a son, Timothy Curtis Warner of Rochester, N.Y.; daughters, Nancy Miles of Farmington, N.Y., and Linda Kress of Rochester; 9 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be in New York. Arrangements are by James A. McKee Funeral Homes, North Port, Fla.
Helma Aldrich
Helma Aldrich, 89, of Venice, Fla., died May 28, 1999.
Born Sept. 10, 1909 in Troy, N.Y., he moved here 20 years ago from Kingston, N.Y.
Survivors include his son, Kenneth P. Pangburn, of Kingston, N.Y.; daughters, Joy K. Stauble, of Cobleskill, N.Y., and Gay P. Trowbridge of Englewood; 10 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

John Eirdosh
John Eirdosh of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away calmly during his sleep on April 28, 1999, at the age of 87.
John, a longtime resident of Roselle, N.J., and Rotonda West, Fla., had recently moved to Utah with his daughter, JoAnn, and her family. John was the owner and operator of John's Sunoco in Roselle until his retirement in 1973. John and his wife, Marjorie Kelly Eirdosh, moved to Florida, where he lived until 1998. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the American Legion.
He is survived by his children, Donald, JoAnn (Jeff) Young, John (Roseanna Wright), Sandy Davis (Mark) Meredith; his grandchildren, Rebecca and Jordan Young, Ian, Dustin and Benjamin Eirdosh, Jarrett and Austin Davis, Montana Meredith and Laurie Eirdosh; his sisters, Agnes Wert, Ann Doenzelmann, Mary Enchura and Kate Wiedermann. He was preceded in death by his wife.

Lois I. Hilsman
Lois I. Hilsman, 71, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died May 24, 2000, at Port Charlotte Regional Medical Center, Punta Gorda, Fla.
Mrs. Hilsman was a member and a tutor for the Port Charlotte Literacy Council, the Disconnected Quilters, and a Past Worthy Matron of the Beacon Chapter (formerly Light O' Day) OES. Mrs. Hilsman was a member of Hit and Miss bowling league.
She is survived by her children, Steven C. Hilsman, Port Charlotte, Linda (William) VanHorn, Eric W. Hilsman, Leslie (Timothy) Wynne, Laura (Philip) Renner; and grandchildren, Stephen Wynne, Meredith, Jeremy VanHorn, Jessica, Matthew Renner, all of Columbus. She was preceded in death by her husband, William.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. May 30, at Schoedinger Midtown Chapel, 229 E. State St., Columbus, Ohio, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. May 31. The Rev. Leonard Confar and Rabbi Gary Huber will officiate. Interment at Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Edward Donald Lavelle
Edward Donald Lavelle, 77, of Coral Springs, Fla., formerly of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away May 26, 2000, in Coral Springs.
Mr. Lavelle is survived by his son, Timothy Edward Lavelle (Maureen) of Raleigh, N.C.; a daughter, Arlene Lavelle Farber (Barry) of Coral Springs; grandchildren, Ryan, Megan, Robbie, Kristen and Gregory; and brothers, Frank and Tom Lavelle.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. May 29, at Kraeer Funeral Home, 1655 University Drive, Coral Springs, FL. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. May 30, at Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Coral Springs. Interment will follow at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Richard 'Dick' (Skipper) Mason
Richard "Dick" (Skipper) Mason, 69, of Punta Gorda, Fla., died May 25, 2000, in Tampa, Fla.
He was born March 14, 1931, in Providence, R.I., and moved here many years ago from Cranston, R.I. He was an engineer. Mr. Mason belonged to Rolling Rhodies Antique Auto Club of Rhode Island. He also served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include daughters, Nancy (Mason) Trombetti-Scivola of Cranston and Bonnie Jean (Mason) Mancini of Warwick, R.I.; sons, David S. Mason of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Donald J. Mason of Punta Gorda and John Mason of the U.S. Marine Corps in Iwakunt, Japan; a brother, Curtis Mason of Coventry, R.I.; a sister, Helen Knee of Warwick; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his parents, Curtis and Mary Frances (Walker) Mason, and brothers, Henry and Earl Mason of Warwick.

Helen C. Bunnell
Helen C. Bunnell, 92, of Punta Gorda, Fla., died May 14, 2001.
She was born April 6, 1909 in New Haven, Conn. Mrs. Bunnell moved to this area in August 1996 from Guilford, Conn. She was a homemaker and was a volunteer for Yale New Haven Hospital, the American Red Cross in New Haven, and Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte. She was a member of San Antonio's Catholic Church in Deep Creek.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, Francis, and one granddaughter, JoAnn Coppola. Survivors include one daughter, Ann Coppola; son-in-law, Joseph Coppola of Punta Gorda, Fla.; three grandsons, John Coppola of New Zealand, Peter Coppola of Guilford, Conn., and Robert Coppola of New Haven; and two great-grandchildren.

June L. Hively, 76, of Punta Gorda, Fla., and formerly of Springfield, Ohio, died May 14, 2001, at her residence.
June was born April 1, 1925, in Charleston, W.Va., the daughter of Oakie F. Wilson and Laura (Robinson) Wilson. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Liedertafel Club.
Survivors include three sons, Michael and Janis Hively of Springfield, Charles K. and Cheryl Hively Jr. of Warner Robbins, Ga., and Jeffrey and Christine Hively of South Charleston, Ohio; and seven grandchildren, Julie Sebastian, Michael, Joel, Nicholas, Matthew and Joshua Hively, and James Hayes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles K. Hively Sr., in 1988; a daughter, Gloria J. Hayes; and a sister, Betty J. Jones.
Visitation for friends is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. May 17, in the Conroy Funeral Home, Springfield. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. May 18, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Deane Hardy officiating.
