Wanda Ann Forbing, 78, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died Wednesday, April 27, 2005, at Charlotte Regional Medical Center Hospital in Punta Gorda, Fla.
She was born April 12, 1927, in Dearborn, Mich., to George and Liddy Sheppard.
Wanda retired as an insurance administrator and moved with her husband, Otis, from Livonia, Mich., to Port Charlotte in the fall of 1977. She was a member of St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church in Port Charlotte and regularly attended Port Charlotte Elks Lodge 2153 with her husband.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Otis "Bud" Forbing of Port Charlotte; two sons, Kenneth and David Forbing, both of Oregon; one granddaughter; one grandson; seven sisters; three brothers; niece, Carol (Russ) Gibson of Punta Gorda; great-nephews, Roy Gibson of Sanibel, Fla., and Russ Gibson of Sanford, Fla.; and numerous other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother; and a sister.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, May 2, 2005, at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church in Port Charlotte. The Rev. Robert B. Mattingly, pastor, will officiate. The committal will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church, 1441 Spear St., Port Charlotte, FL 33948.

Janet F. Plummer
Janet Floyd Plummer, 70, of Arcadia, Fla., passed away Friday, April 22, 2005, at DeSoto Memorial Hospital.
She was born July 15, 1934, in Arcadia, the daughter of Walter Floyd and Venezuela Tillis Jones.
Mrs. Plummer was graduate of Smith-Brown High School in 1951, and Freedmen's Hospital School of Nursing in Washington, D.C. In 1954 she became a registered nurse with additional studies at Catholic University, D.C. Teacher's College and the National Institute of Health in Bethesade, Md. She married Robert Plummer on Oct. 16, 1954.
In her professional career, she began as a staff nurse at Children's Hospital in Washington, D.C., and continued as a staff nurse and clinical supervisor of the Medical Intensive Cardiac Care units of Howard University and Freedmen's Hospital in Washington, D.C. She was also employed as a professional standard review coordinator for Medical Foundation in Prince George County, Md. On returning to Arcadia, her career continued as a registered nurse supervisor for DeSoto Manor Nursing Home, school health coordinator and healthy start coordinator for DeSoto County Department of Public Health.
Mrs. Plummer was an extremely active faithful member of Mt. Zion AME Church in Arcadia, serving in many capacities as Sunday school teacher and pianist, choir director, class leader council and much more. Her professional and community affiliation included membership in the American Critical Care Nurses Association, American Nurses, Florida Nurses Association, Freedmen's Hospital Nurse Alumni, Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Community Advisory Council at DeSoto Memorial Hospital and DeSoto County School Health Advisory.
She is survived by her children, Kevin Plummer of Arcadia; Amber Dawn and Debra Harrison of Flagstaff, Ariz., Felecia (Steven) Haley, Jordan and Symone, Dwayne (Patricia) Harrison, Dirhonda and Reginald (Linda) Harrison, all of Tampa; Janee, Brittany and Cele (Clyde) Pinder; Terry and Alex, Amonda (Rodney) Thomas, Clyde Jr. of Parrish, Fla., Gary Watson and children of Sarasota, Fla., Yolonda (Jermaine) Thompson and children of Miami, Fla., Carla Watson and children of Miami and Rodrick and daughter Aryana; devoted aunt, Ludie Tillis; devoted friends, Alfanzo Flemming, William Lattimore, David and Helen Caviness; adopted godson, Pastor Robert Postell; Gloria (Robert) Harrison of Tampa, Fla., Cecyl Watson, Carl Wilson (Sharon) and Priscilla (Edward) Hickson; and a host of sorrowing cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2005, at Hickson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2005, at Mt. Zion AME Church, 256 S. Orange Ave., Arcadia.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Hickson Funeral Home, Arcadia.
Lloyd M. Davis
Lloyd M. Davis, 53, of Port Charlotte, Fla., and formerly of Toledo, Ohio, Thursday, April 21, 2005.
He was born July 25, 1951, in Toledo to Lloyd and Jeanette Davis.
Mr. Davis is survived by his daughter, Karrie Ann Snyder of Toledo; granddaughters, Olivia and Emily Betlewicz of Jacksonville, Fla.; brother, Jim (Rose) Slagle of Swanton, Ohio; sister, Pam (Dave) Plunkett of Toledo; and his friend, Walter Bettoncourt of Port Charlotte. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be private.

Elizabeth A. Meier
Elizabeth A. Meier, 79, of Punta Gorda, Fla., died Thursday, April 28, 2005, at the Charlotte Regional Medical Center.
She was born July 14, 1925, in Joliet, Ill.
Mrs. Meier moved to the Punta Gorda area 18 years ago from Morton Grove, Ill. She was a homemaker and loved caring for her family.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Robert Meier of Punta Gorda; sons, Mark Meier of Punta Gorda and Daniel (Karen) Meier of Wonder Lake, Ill.; grandsons, Robert, Brian and Jeffrey Meier, all of Port Charlotte, Fla.; brother, George O'Brien of Denver, Colo.; and a sister, Patricia Roth of Kansas City, Kan.
A visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 30, 2005, at Kays-Ponger Funeral Home, 635 E. Marion Ave., Punta Gorda.

Mildred D. Cross
Mildred D. "Millie" Cross, 89, of Englewood, Fla., passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2005.
She was born Dec. 13, 1915, in Arlington, Mo.
Millie moved to Michigan as a young girl. She retired as the deputy clerk of White Lake Township in 1972, and then she and her husband, Alan, moved to Englewood. Millie was a member of Englewood Does 203, the Englewood Garden Beach Club and Englewood United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Alan; her daughters, Carolyn A. Oates of Englewood and Clarkston, Mich., and Kristine A. Abeare of Houston, Texas; sister, Hazel Lee Glover of North Carolina; grandchildren, Karen L Riley of Clarkston, Scott A. (Linette) Himes of Englewood, Tina (Roger) Greanya of Standish, Mich., Michael Abeare and April Esparza of Houston and Sharon of Pennsylvania; and nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 5 p.m. Saturday, April 30, 2005, at the Doan Chapel of Englewood United Methodist Church, 700 E. Dearborn St., Englewood.

Malcolm W. Kestner
Malcolm W. "Doc" Kestner, 80, of Englewood, Fla., died Wednesday, April 27, 2005, in Englewood.
He was born Dec. 24, 1924, in Macy, Ind.
Mr. Kestner served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the U.S. Army Reserves. He retired as a supervisor from Navistar Truck Manufacturing Company in Fort Wayne, Ind., and moved from there to the Englewood area in 1987. He was a member of the American Legion Post 113 of Rotonda West, Fla., the Elks Lodge of Rotonda West, the Moose Lodge of Englewood, Wayne Masonic Lodge 25 and the Scottish Rite, both of Fort Wayne. He was a local bass player with The Top Hats, Swing Kings and the Sophisticated Swing Band.
He is survived by his wife, Wanetta "Teddi" Kestner of Englewood; a son, Mark A. Kestner of Punta Gorda, Fla.; a daughter, Connie S. McCoy of Fort Wayne; a sister, Rosemary Kauffman of Sarasota, Fla.; a brother, Charles A. of Sarasota; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 30, 2005, at the Doan Chapel of Englewood United Methodist Church.

Phyllis H. Kuryla
Phyllis Hahn Kuryla, 75, of Englewood, Fla., passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2005.
She was the daughter of William and Ruth (Haines) Hahn, born July 8, 1929, in New Haven, Conn.
Phyllis moved to Englewood in 1977 from Milford, Conn. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Elks Club of Englewood.
Phyllis will be greatly missed by her daughters, Cynthia (Alvin) Conrad of Hudson, Fla., and Laura Treat of Port Charlotte, Fla.; sister, Wilma (Raymond) Hasse of Quaker Hill, Conn.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, May 1, 2005, at Calvary Baptist Church in Englewood, with the service in celebration of Phyllis' life beginning at 3 p.m. Burial will be at Gulf Pines Memorial Park in Englewood. Corwin Coker
Corwin "Corky" Coker, 72, of Arcadia, Fla., passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2005.
He was born Sept. 26, 1932, in the Bunker Community in Arcadia and was a lifelong resident of Arcadia.
He retired as an auto parts manager and citrus grower. He was a lifelong member and a chairman of deacons, and a music director of Oak Hill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Faye Westberry Coker; his mother, Edna Coker; three sons, Tim (Susan) Coker, Sears (Elizabeth) Coker and Jason Coker; two daughters, Cheryl (Tim) Daniels and Debbie (Jeff) Lucas; a daughter-in-law, Melanie Coker; two brothers, Dale (Lucky) Coker and Wayne (Lori) Coker of Arcadia; a sister, Ellen (Ronald) Bray of Baltimore, Md.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.

William "Billy" Howard
William "Billy" Howard, 61, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away April 27, 2001, following a brief illness.
He was born April 27, 1940 at the Ridge in Darien, Ga., moving to Punta Gorda in 1955. He was employed and retired from General Development Corp. as a surveyor. He served in the United States Army stationed in Korea.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lila and T.J. Howard.
Billy is survived by his loving wife, Carol Howard of Port Charlotte; sons, Billy (Jeannie) Howard Jr., Ronnie (Debbie) Howard, and Steve Howard, all of Port Charlotte; a granddaughter, Brittney Howard of Port Charlotte; brothers, Thomas Howard Jr. of Virginia Beach, Va., Ronnie Howard of Port
Charlotte, Larry Howard of North Fort Myers, Fla., and Joe Howard of Punta Gorda, Fla.; and a sister, Peggy Nelson of North Fort Myers. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was a distant cousin to former President James Earl Carter Jr. of Georgia.

Walter Vernon Kitchin Jr.
Walter Vernon Kitchin Jr., 88, a resident of Punta Gorda, Fla., died April 23, 2001, at the Charlotte Harbor Health Care Center.
He was born Dec. 24, 1912, in Lynn, Mass., to Walter Vernon Kitchen and Elsie May Kitchin. He worked as a carpenter for the Tupperware Corporation and moved to this area in 1980 from Kissimmee, Fla. Walter was a member of the Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall of Punta Gorda.
He is survived by a daughter, Dorothy Wisner of Cleveland, Tenn.; a son, Walter V. Kitchin III of Escondido, Calif.; two sisters, one brother and five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Kitchin.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. May 2, at the Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall, 27265 N. Jones Loop Road, Punta Gorda. James W. McKeone
James W. McKeone, 89, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died April 27, 2001, in Port Charlotte.
He was born Feb. 19, 1912, in St. Louis, Mo., and worked as a sales manager for Kraft Foods in Albany, N.Y. for 37 years, retiring in 1977. He came to Port Charlotte from Santa Rosa, Calif., in 1986.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Lynne McKeone of Port Charlotte; two daughters, Marilee Ann Farry of Cheektowago, N.Y. and Kathleen Ruecker of Albany, N.J.; a brother, William McKeone of Fayetteville, N.C.; and six grandchildren.
There are no services planned at this time. Farley Funeral Home and Crematory, North Port Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Walter Rumsey
Walter Rumsey, 73, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died Saturday, April 28, 2001, at his residence.
He was born one of three sons to Albert and Ruth Rumsey on Aug. 25, 1927 in Ridgewood, N.J. He started working in the warehouse of his father's business, Rumsey Distributors of Syracuse, N.Y., a floor covering distribution company, as a teen-ager and retired in 1973 as chief executive officer. He moved to Port Charlotte in 1973 from Syracuse. He was a member of the Port Charlotte United Methodist Church, Kingsway Country Club, and the Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Marines.
He is survived by his wife, Marion R. Rumsey of Port Charlotte; three daughters, Karen Musselman of Arvida, Co., Carol Goedecke of Fort Myers, Fla., and Candice Freeman of Winter Park, Fla.; 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Blake, and brothers, Albert and Edward.
Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, April 30, 2001 at Port Charlotte United Methodist Church. The Rev. James R. Kuse will officiate.
