Paul N. Hoffman, 80, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Nov. 10, 2004 at his residence.
He was born March 6, 1924, in Williamsport, Pa.
Mr. Hoffman was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corp in the Pacific. He was a retiree of Swift & Company, and also worked for the Schnadig Co. in Pennsylvania. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 844 in Williamsport, and a member of the United Methodist Church in Port Charlotte. He moved to Port Charlotte in August 1984 from Montoursville, Pa.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Dorothy; sister, Marian Hodge of Pennsylvania; and nieces and nephews.
National Cremation Society of Venice is in charge of arrangements.
Mary P. Morse
Mary P. Morse, 94, of Fort Myers, Fla., and formerly of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004.
Mary was born May 3, 1910, in Weymouth, Mass., to John W. Ahern and Elizabeth Leary-Ahern.
Mary majored in music at Boston University, with an emphasis on piano. She and her husband, Edwin O. Morse, moved to Punta Gorda 25 years ago from Arlington, Mass.
During her years in Punta Gorda, she was a parishioner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and she was an avid golfer. Later, she moved to Fort Myers.
She is survived by her children, Linda Morse of Fort Myers, John Morse of North Hampton, N.H., and Peter Morse of South Jordan, Utah; and three grandchildren, Steve Morse of Brighton, Mass., Andrew Morse of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Courtney Morse of Boston, Mass. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin.
A memorial Mass will be held in Mary's honor at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005, at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church on Sunrise Drive in Fort Myers.

Eleanora Smith
Eleanora Smith, 82, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Thursday, Jan 6, 2005, at the Punta Gorda Elderly Care Center.
She was born June 10, 1922, in Carthage, Mo.
Eleanora was a bookkeeper/accountant for most of her adult life.
She is survived by eight nieces and nephews and their immediate families. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Smith.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005, at Kays-Ponger Funeral Home, 635 E. Marion Ave, Punta Gorda. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Joseph Donthett officiating.
Interment will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005, at the Hillsboro Cemetery in Brandon, Fla.

Maudie L. Wilson
Maudie L. Wilson, 74, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005, at home.
She was born Jan. 13, 1930, in Columbia, Ala.
Maudie was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys football fan and loved her animals.
She is survived by two daughters, Sheila Anderson and Sharon L. Kelsey, both of Punta Gorda; three granddaughters, Brooke Kelsey, Ashley Leblanc and Michaela Snow; and one great-granddaughter, Derricka Jones.
Services will be private.

Mary Jane Hahn, 81, of Arcadia, Fla., died Friday, Jan. 7, 2005.
She was born Dec. 3, 1923, in Arcadia.
MAry was lifelong resident of Arcadia and worked as a maintenance person at the DeSoto County Courthouse. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a sister, Hazel Hope of Arcadia; a nephew, David Hope of Arcadia; nieces, Jane Hope Parker of Arcadia and Sandy Bloom Budd of Treasure Island, Fla.
Visitation is 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005, at Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home in Arcadia with graveside funeral services and burial to follow at 2 p.m. at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Arcadia.

Ansel J. McCranie
Ansel Jack (A.J.) "Mr. Red" McCranie, 82, of Palmetto, Fla., and formerly of Arcadia, Fla., died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at home.
He was born Jan. 16, 1922, in Faceville, Ga.
"Mr. Red" was the owner of Manatee Home Supply. In 1946, he began servicing the community of Arcadia. He moved to Arcadia in 1986 and managed Mather's Furniture Store for 10 years. He often spoke about his wonderful friends in Arcadia, who truly enriched his life.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred; daughters, Deborah Tindall LaChapelle and Beverly Saver; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 10, 2005, at Parrish United Methodist Church.

George F. Bertelson
George F. Bertelson, 80, of Punta Gorda, Fla., died Jan. 6, 2000, at Charlotte Regional Medical Center, Punta Gorda.
He was born Oct. 16, 1919, in Burlington County, N.J., and moved to Punta Gorda from Mount Holly, N.J. He was a retired driver for Rollins Trucking Company. He was a member of Moose Lodge of Punta Gorda.
He is survived by a daughter, Sandra Wharton of Punta Gorda; son, John L. Mayberry of Macungie, Pa.; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Jan. 10, at Roberson Funeral Home, Punta Gorda Chapel. The Rev. William Klossner of the Congregational United Church of Christ will officiate. Rudolf H. Diehl
Rudolf H. Diehl, 72, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Jan. 2, 2000.
He is survived by his wife, Marritta; and many family members and friends in Germany.
There will be no memorial service at this time. After cremation, his remains will be scattered at sea. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Port Charlotte Animal Shelter would be appreciated. Arrangements are by American Family Funeral Home.
Ruth M. Eiden
Ruth M. Eiden, 87, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died Jan. 6, 2000, at her residence.
She was born Feb. 14, 1912, in Memphis, Tenn., and moved to Charlotte County in 1973 from Madison, Wis. She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Port Charlotte. She was the former vice chairman of the Charlotte County Art Guild. Mrs. Eiden was an artist who enjoyed watercolor painting. She retired as a registered nurse. She was a graduate of Marquette Nursing School in Milwaukee, Wis., class of 1933, and graduated from Florida Southern College in Port Charlotte.
Mrs. Eiden is survived by her daughters, Dorothy Dent of Madison, Rosemary Andrea of Menomonee Falls, Wis., and Mary Styczinski of Rochester, Minn.; son, Stephen Eiden of Port Charlotte; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Jan. 10 at Roberson Funeral Home, Punta Gorda Chapel, with a Catholic Wake service at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Jan. 11 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Port Charlotte. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Port Charlotte.
Walter F. Hoettels
Walter F. Hoettels, 93, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died Jan. 5, 2000.
He was born Jan. 15, 1906, in Bloomington, Ill., and moved to this area in 1966 from Milwaukee, Wis. He was a supervisor for American Motors. Mr. Hoettels was a member of the Masons; founder of the Amateur Radio Society of Charlotte County; a member of RACES, Radio Amateurs Charlotte County Emergency System; and attended Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Church.
He is survived by his son, Ronald (Lorraine) Hoettels of Colgate, Wis.; brother, Raymond Hoettels of Milwaukee; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Jan. 10 at Kays-Ponger Funeral Home, Punta Gorda Chapel. Services will be at 11 a.m. at the chapel. Burial will take place at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens in Punta Gorda.
Inez Jesse "Inie" Martin
Inez Jesse "Inie" Martin, 84, of Punta Gorda, Fla., formerly of North Liberty, Iowa, died Jan. 6, 2000, at Charlotte Regional Medical Center in Punta Gorda, following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Martin was born Jan. 12, 1915, in Chugwater, Wyo., the daughter of Howard and Oda (Ramsey) Anderson. She was raised and attended schools in Wisconsin, then moved to Iowa City in 1937. She studied music at the University of Iowa and later taught piano lessons in the area. Inez married Robert Martin on Dec. 18, 1943 in Tennessee. The couple attended the Coralville and North Liberty United Methodist churches. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, oil painting and fishing.
Survivors include her husband of Punta Gorda; son, Robert E. (Mary) Martin of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; granddaughters, Tracy (Russell) Stocker of Dyersville, Iowa, and Lynette (Randy) Biery of Davenport, Iowa; and five great-grandchildren. Inez was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Zell Anderson; and sister, Bernice Anderson Keller.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 11, at the George L. Gay Funeral Home and Crematorium, Iowa City. Officiating will be the Rev. Scott Lothe. Burial will be in Ridgewood Cemetery, North Liberty. Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
Balsy Thomas Mikell
Balsy Thomas Mikell, 87, of Punta Gorda, Fla., died Dec. 26, 1999, at the Life Care Center in Punta Gorda.
She was born May 12, 1912, in Nassau County, Fla. She lived in Jacksonville, Fla., for most of her life, moving to Tallahassee, Fla., in 1982. She moved to this area in 1992. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Woodville, Fla.
She is survived by her son, Wayne Mikell of Punta Gorda; daughter, Cynthia Getford of Altoona, Fla.; grandchildren, Thomas Franklin Fuqua Jr. of Altoona, Cindy Ann Miller of Burlington, N.C., Lee Mikell of Belle Glade, Fla., and Stephen Mikell (in the Navy) of Goose Creek, S.C.; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Rudolph Thomas of Jacksonville and R.N. Thomas of Folkston, Ga.; and sisters, Myrtice Williams of Bryceville, Fla., and Esther Fletcher of Glen St. Mary, Fla. She was predeceased by her husband, W.E. (Bill) Mikell.
Graveside services were Jan. 5 at the Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normanday Blvd., Jacksonville. The family requests that memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Northeast Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32256. Crystal Rebecca Nocerino
Crystal Rebecca Nocerino, 17, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died Jan. 6, 2000.
She was born March 16, 1982, in Port Charlotte and was in the 11th grade at Port Charlotte High School and the Alpha Center. She was of the Catholic faith. Crystal enjoyed drawing and arts and crafts and was excellent with children. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her parents, Susan Nocerino of Port Charlotte and Frank Nocerino of Port Charlotte; maternal grandparents, Peggy and Randy Foster of Port Charlotte; paternal grandmother, Mary Nocerino of South Carolina; favorite uncles, Bruce Cadrain of Port Charlotte and Donald Cadrain of Boynton Beach, Fla.
